Kick off Black Friday at Threadless

Gooooooooood morning! Ready for some fun today?

It wouldn’t be Black Friday without the $9.99 sale at Threadless. I love them shamelessly, and their shirts and nearly all my kids wear, anymore. Though I am still waiting for them to produce the winners of their recent Minecraft design contest (What’s up with that, Threadless?) Do remember that their clothing tends to run a little bit small, too—size up when ordering.

If you don’t want t-shirts, the hoodies, socks, iPhone cases, and everything else are all on sale, too. (Hint: Got someone who’s really hard to buy for? Check out their notebooks!) Spend $60+ and your order ships for free.

We’re just getting started, of course, but I figured maybe my fellow nerdlings out there would want to get a jump on finding their very own Hypotamoose.

A few deals before bed

I’ll be up bright and early tomorrow morning, but that means I need to stop shopping and hit the hay, here, in a minute. Before I go, a few deals you might want to nab overnight if you’re sleepless and ready to rumble. (For the deals. Please don’t go fighting in the streets or anything.)

If you didn’t take advantage of all the early Black Friday deals at Kohls yesterday, they’re still on, and you still get free shipping on $50+ and $15 Kohls Cash for every $50 spent, but now everyone can use coupon code CCYT115 for an additional 20% off your order.

Every order ships for free at Children’s Place for Black Friday, plus coupon code BF2012HP takes an additional 30% off your total.

This one isn’t live yet, but if you want in, shop early—they always start selling out when they run a special like this: Babylegs will be running a 3-for-1 special where 3 pairs will run you just $12. That is awesome. And I am a little bitter that these didn’t exist when my kids were little.

More deals to come tomorrow….

The never-fail stocking stuffer: Hot Wheels

I confess; for a few years, there, during the very lean times, I bought knock-off die-cast vehicles for my kids. And they were terrible—the decals peeled off and the wheels popped off and they were basically the fast track to disappointment. I learned my lesson.

Now it’s Hot Wheels or nothing, and this is especially important because my husband likes a car or two on Christmas morning, too. (My son may have just about outgrown the toy cars, but luckily the husband is still going strong.) Did you see that Amazon has this 9-pack of Hot Wheels cars for just $5? (Free Prime shipping, or eligible for free Super Saver Shipping.)

These are perfect for donations, too. Get an extra and drop it off in your local Toys For Tots bin.

I’m full of pie, and ready to hunt

I hope y’all had (or are still having) a fantastic Thanksgiving. We’ve had a wonderful day here. I can tell, because when my son was asked what the best part of the day was, he said, “The rolls. And the pie.” (Next year I guess we can skip the turkey and all the sides and just have rolls and pie.)

So I’ll do a little light duty tonight, looking around at the sales, and then tomorrow we can do some hardcore deal hunting. The first thing I did when I got back to the computer, of course, was to check all of the Amazon Lightning Deals I missed while I was hanging out with my family. There were a few I kind of wished I’d seen earlier, but that’s okay. There’s plenty more deals coming.

On the other hand, I just saw that this LEGO R2-D2 set dropped to $140 (from around $200)—Amazon’s best ever price—and I am trying to decide if I could spend that much on a LEGO set without having a stroke. On the one hand, it’s a great deal. On the other hand, as cool as it is, it’s still a box of plastic bricks. Decisions, decisions….

[Edited to add: Oh, look—the LEGO City Advent Calendar is only $28, plus you can get free one-day shipping when you pay with a Discover card. That suddenly seems positively cheap next to R2-D2. I may have just figured out what to do.]

Looking for a Wii U?

If you’ve been trying to find your kids (or yourself; I don’t judge) the Wii U this holiday season, you’re probably already pretty frustrated. They’ve been impossible to find, and above MSRP when you do.

It’s not exactly a deal, because it’s full price, but it is in stock—GameStop has the Wii U available as part of their early Black Friday promotions.

Personally I won’t be spending that kind of money on anything for my kids, because I’m a giant meanie. But if you have your heart set on one, there you go.

Happy Black Friday! Er, Thanksgiving!

My pretties, I hope you’re gearing up for a day of relaxation and thankfulness and a gluttonous amount of food. Oh, wait—that’s me. Well, hey. It’s one of my favorite ways to spend a day, so I hope you get to do something similar (or whatever works for you).

I know it’s Thanksgiving, but the trend of retailers seeming to believe it’s already Friday continues apace. Why, Target has already launched Black Friday Deals online, so you could scope those out before you even start making dinner.

From toys to electronics, they seem to have pulled out all the stops. And you don’t even have to find a parking spot to get ’em.

A recommendation for an Air deal, from my Air

I’m typing on my MacBook Air right now, and I’m not going to lie, when they first came out I was all, “Ugh, Apple just always has to make stuff that looks cool but costs so much more.” I resisted for a long time. But now I own a laptop that fits in an envelope and tucks into my purse and I hug it and love it and call it My Precious.

Ahem. That may be more information than you wanted, granted. But the point is that I love my Air as a full-function laptop that is just as portable as a tablet. If you’ve been thinking about getting one for yourself, go to MacConnection‘s TecHoliday Gift Center, because they have brand new 2011 MacBook Airs (not the latest generation, but the previous one, I think) for $699.

These will sell out quickly, but it’s an awesome price if you don’t mind not getting the latest/greatest and appreciate saving $300.

Nook yourself before Black Friday

If you have a Nook on your shopping list, get on over to Staples right now. They’ve got their “pre-Black Friday Deals” up (whatever that means) and among them are some great deals on various Nook models.

I have an old-fashioned (read: non-tablet) Kindle and I love it, but I have to say that my son absolutely adores his Nook Tablet and uses it all the time. It’s a great way to get an affordable device that both allows you to read and gives you games and some Internet connectivity for email and such.

Staples is offering free shipping on every order right now, too, so whether you go for a $100 Nook Color or $120 Nook 8GB Tablet, you’re getting a sweet deal.

Yep, Black Friday is live at Kohls already

Never one to let a Wednesday go buy without a sale event, Kohls has gone ahead and launched their Early Bird Black Friday Specials. That means you can shop all you like today, inbetween meal prep. (What? I’m the only one cooking today? Seems unlikely.) (Also? Maybe I didn’t really make a pumpkin cheesecake. Maybe I’ll just eat it today and tell my guests I have no idea how it slipped my mind this year. Om nom.)

Anyhoo, here’s the details: In addition to the specials, everyone gets free shipping on $50+ and $15 Kohls Cash (rather than the usual $10) for every $50 spent. Plus everyone can use coupon code THANKFUL for an additional 15% off.

This is the perfect time to pick up that big-ticket item you’d rather not fight through the stores to get, particularly if you’re a regular Kohls shopper, because that extra Kohls Cash will be sweet. (Think… Dyson vacuums, KitchenAid mixers, etc. The prices are awesome, and the bonus cash will surely make it a no-brainer.)

I’m beginning to wonder if there’s going to be anything fun for us on Friday. Seems like everyone’s starting the party today!

Fab your tech

If you haven’t visited Fab.com today, and you have a hard-to-buy-for tech-head on your shopping list, get on over there. One of their boutiques today is a variety of options from GRID-IT!, my husband’s favorite way to tote technology.

Not only are the cases sleek and good-looking, the Cocoon GRID-IT! system inside gives you a safe way to stash all of your various cords and chargers, too. Configure it however you want, because it’s just a series of flat elastic bands (simple but genius, particularly if you suffer from Tech Clutter Syndrome).

Don’t forget that Fab is offering speedy holiday shipping right now, plus when you spend $75+, it all ships for free.
