Be a VIP at Macy’s
If you have a little shopping to do at Macy’s, this week is the time to do it—through September 16th, you can apply coupon code VIP to take 20% off nearly everything (it works even on clearance, and even on brands usually excluded, though things likes watches and furniture will only be 10% off).
Shipping is automatically free on your $99+ purchase, but go ahead and pretend it’s just because you’re so darn special. Because why not?
Oooohhh, shiny!
I’m not a huge jewelry person—really, I’m not (my favorite earrings in the world are these ones because they make me laugh, and I couldn’t even bring myself to buy them for myself, but asked for them for Christmas one year)—but I do find myself charmed by unusual gemstones.
I may have actually uttered, “Oooooh!” when I saw today’s Deal of the Day at Szul; it’s a mystic topaz pendant surrounded by diamonds on an 18″ necklace. That stone is lovely. Now, I have no idea what such a thing normally costs, but according to their website, their normal sale price is $249 and today it’s just $57 with free shipping.
They could be exaggerating, of course. Seems like a decent deal, though, and I seriously think that stone is trying to hypnotize me.
Shirts for him, shoes for you
I sometimes forget that 6pm.com has more than shoes, but on a day like today, it’s like the planets are perfectly aligned: One of their featured boutiques is men’s button-up shirts for “$50 or less.” Now, that totally made me roll my eyes—I was sure it was going to be a bunch of designer shirts for $49—but it took me under 10 seconds to find my husband several really nice shirts (with coordinating ties, even) for just $16.
And as long as I’m there, maybe a pair of shoes will just happen to fall into my cart. Oops!
That’s less than a buck a scoop
I have the old “two scoops of raisins” jingle stuck in my head this morning, and it’s because Amazon has such a good deal on Kellogg’s Raisin Bran right now. Oh, sure, when you click to the product page it looks like 3 20-ounce boxes will cost you $13.05—no bargain there—but when you purchase via Subscribe & Save (that gets you free shipping, plus another 5% off) and go to checkout, another promotional discount is applied, and then you’re getting three giant boxes of cereal delivered to your door for just $5.22.
I love cereal deals in the morning. If they came with a coffee IV I’d never have to move from this very spot.
Pick your unglamorous paper product
There are things which are fun to shop for (shoes!) and things for which you must shop that are boring. Hopefully the two balance each other out.
Here’s a little boring-but-necessary for you: Right now at Amazon you can stock up on Puffs tissues or Sparkle paper towels on the cheap. Get a 6-pack of family-size boxes of Puffs for just $8.41 shipped when you buy via Subscribe & Save and clip the $.25 coupon on the product page. Or grab a 20-count case of Sparkle pick-a-size giant rolls for just $20.70 when you clip the $1 coupon on the product page. (No Subscribe & Save available for that one, but free shipping with Prime or Super Saver Shipping.)
Thrilling? Not really. Leaves you more spare money to spend on shoes? Perhaps.
Two ways to save with Eddie
You know I love a good sale over at Eddie Bauer, and today’s options don’t disappoint! There’s plenty of markdowns from which to choose, and two different ways to save.
First, their “Fall Outfitter Event” means that if you buy a pair of pants or jeans, you can apply coupon code CEDAR to get 25% off your entire order (excludes clearance). Nice. (That will work if the pants are on sale, even, though not if they’re on clearance.)
Second, if you’re not buying pants, you can use coupon code INDIGO for free shipping, anyway. That’s handy if you’re just buying clearance stuff, like the smartypants that you are.
Sure, I love warehouse shopping
Warehouses? Sure, love ’em. What I don’t love is membership fees, parking lots larger than the town I live in, and crazy shoppers who want to fight you for the last vat of pickle relish. Heh.
So I’ll stick to the Warehouse Deals at Amazon—I don’t even have to get dressed! Check out the current crop of deeply discounted snack deals to see if there’s anything you need for lunchboxes. (Or whatever. Just because my life now revolves around packing lunches, doesn’t mean yours has to.)
Note: Warehouse deals tend to have shorter expiration dates than regular Amazon merchandise, but you should never receive anything expired or so close to expiration that you can’t reasonably consume it before then. If you receive something where the date is either past or too close, contact Amazon—they’ll refund your money.
Happy birthday, Old Navy!
Did you know that Old Navy has been online for 13 years today? It’s true! To celebrate, they’re giving you a gift—take 25% off your order today (Friday, September 7th, 2012) only with coupon code HAPPYBDAY.
It should work on everything except their “Everyday Steals,” which means it works on clearance items just fine. And don’t forget that orders of $50+ ship for free, automatically.
This is my kind of party.
[Edited to add: I received the HAPPYBDAY code in my email, but a reader has reported it didn’t work for her but BDAYGIFT did. Not sure what’s going on, but try that second one if the original code doesn’t work for you. Thanks, Tracy!]
Get ready to be Arrested
If you loved Arrested Development, and if you’re following the rumblings of a new project (it’s a movie! it’s 10 more episodes! no one knows!), surely you’ll want to brush up on all the awesomeness of the past before they unveil whatever it is they’re working on next. So here you go: All three seasons of Arrested Development on DVD at Amazon for just $27 delivered.
I confess that I never saw this show when it was on, originally. I finally joined the cult a few years ago, in one long Netflix-fueled summer of catching up. I laughed, I cried, it was better than more cringe-inducing than Cats. Good stuff.
Grab your $5 to Amazon
I can’t imagine what sorts of insider tips you’re going to get about toilet paper and paper towels when you do this (remember to sign up with an infrequently-used email address!), but if you go sign up with Scott Products Shared Values via that link, you can get a code for a $5 Amazon MP3 credit. Easy peasy.
Once you sign up and get your code, go enter it here and shop away. Free tunes!
