I finally ran out of peanut butter
Remember all of those peanut butter deals ‘way back in the winter? And how there was all this talk of how the price of peanuts was going up? (Hey, I just checked… that was back in October. Time flies.) We are on our very last jar of peanut butter, finally, after the stocking up I did back then.
So I went poking around on Amazon, and they’re now carrying 40 oz. jars of the Skippy Naturals. (Side note: I used to be a dedicated Jif girl. Then I tried the uber-natural brands and didn’t like the oiliness, but have found a happy medium in the Skippy Natural Super Chunk—wholesome ingredients, no separation, smooth and yummy taste.) There’s also a $1 coupon to clip (if you get Amazon grocery coupons, you should see it in the middle of the page), which makes the Natural Super Chunk $5.18/jar and the Natural Creamy $5.56/jar.
The only problem is that these are now add-on items, so I guess I can’t just order a jar of peanut butter. Too bad it’s so incredibly difficult to find something else to order at Amazon that I need. Hahaha.
Brew your own
Root beer, that is. I mean, that’s science, right? Delicious, creamy science? (Now I want a root beer float. It’s 6:00 in the morning. I have issues.)
Today’s deal over at Sellout.Woot is a Mr. Root Beer bundle of the original kit plus a refill package for just $12.99 plus $5 shipping (and remember, Woot now gives you an entire day of shipping across all their sites for that one $5 fee). For reference, the kit alone goes for $22 at Amazon, while the refill pack costs another $10. So even after shipping, it’s a pretty awesome deal. Together the kit and the refill will yield four gallons of root beer. That is a lot of floats.
Plus you can turn it into a learning thing for the kids, then drink all their root beer. Win/win, right? Right.
Ultimate beauty, at Ulta
Get gorgeous—not that it’d be easy to be prettier than you already are—at Ulta this week, and save big, too. All week long you can take 20% off your entire order with coupon code 72654, and that’ll work even on top of sale and clearance prices. (Some exclusions apply, like you can’t use it on Clarisonic or Philosophy or a few other brands.)
Spend $50+ and your order ships for free, plus you get to pick three free samples with every order, which is always my favorite part. (I have a weakness for tiny little containers, what can I say?)
My last hurrah at Children’s Place
Well, it was a very long time coming, but it’s finally here: This is my last season shopping at Children’s Place. Hold me.
I can think of no better way to bid our long relationship adieu than to shop for my son’s very last batch of jeans there (size 14, why are you so not little boy-looking? who gave you permission to fit my son?) than to shop today/tomorrow while shipping is free on all orders, and the stock-up sale is going on, and coupon code SAVE25 takes an additional 25% off your entire order.
That means that while I weep over this chapter of our life drawing to a close, at least I’m paying next to nothing. So that’s something.
I have a weakness for rice krispie treats
On the one hand, I try really hard not to buy treats that contain HFCS. I do a lot of my own baking, and will take regular sugar over that stuff any day of the week.
On the other hand, I’m only human. And having some easy-to-grab snacks in the pantry is always useful.
And on the third hand (I bet you didn’t know I had a third hand), a good deal on a treat my kids love can be hard to pass up.
Right now Amazon has a 6-pack case of 16-count rice krispie bars (that’s 96 bars) for $28, which isn’t a bad price, but it’s certainly nothing to write home about. But! If you’re eligible for Amazon coupons, there’s a 25% off coupon to clip on the page, plus you can get an extra 5% off and free shipping when you buy via Subscribe & Save, making the total to your door just $19.67, or a mere $.20/bar.
I know it’s junk food. I’m just saying it’s delicious, cheap junk food.
Jeans for him, savings for you
Today’s Target Daily Deals are part of their “Fashion Friday,” and that means a nice selection of clothing and accessories. Now, usually the Daily Deals skew very heavily towards women’s and children’s items, so I am delighted to see that today’s spotlight deal is $15 jeans for the men. They’re “dENiZEN® from the Levi’s® brand” jeans, and I am going to give a pass to the weirdo capitalization there because I love Levi’s and have heard good things about this brand.
Besides, jeans for my honey, for $15 and free shipping? I’m on it.
Deal time at Dillard’s
It’s my favorite time of the season—when Dillard’s takes an additional 40% off most clearance clothing, and an additional 30% off other clearance.
Prices are already reduced (I generally get at least one “but the price didn’t drop in my cart!” comment when I mention this sale, even though it says right on the site that the reductions are already taken), and obviously some deals are better than others, but in general I find this sale is worth digging through for some bargains. Several of my favorite dresses came from this sale, in years past.
Today I may be eyeing shoes. It’s been that kind of a day.
A big bundle of batteries
No matter how many AA batteries we have in the house, it’s never enough. No matter how many chargers, someone can never find one. I suspect the batteries and chargers are hanging out in that alternate universe where all the socks go after they disappear from the dryer. That’s logical, right?
If you need rechargeable batteries and chargers, check out today’s Tech.Woot—you get three smart chargers and 12 AA batteries for just $20 (plus $5 shipping). (For comparison: A single charger bundle is currently $14 at Amazon.) All three of the chargers can be left plugged in and will cycle on and off based on need, and one of the three charges up the batteries in just an hour.
Sounds like a great deal to me, even if it doesn’t come with a guarantee that your new batteries and chargers won’t disappear with all the rest of them.
The lunch quandary, solved
If I added up all of the hours I’ve spent packing lunches for my husband and children to take to work and school, I would… probably become very depressed. Heh. The more immediate result of all of those years of packing is that we own an impressive assortment of ice packs to go in our insulated sacks, plus several food containers which can, themselves, be frozen.
While I am not a fan of packing lunches, I am even less of a fan of food poisoning.
So I started seeing commercials for those PackIt freezable lunch bags and I thought that was a pretty ingenious solution, making a bag with built-in freezer goo that you can put right into the freezer. But they’re $20 apiece, so needless to say, I haven’t bought one.
But! Today at Graveyardmall one of their daily deals is a 4-pack of “innercool integrated cooling system lunch sacks,” which, hey, looks an awful lot like a knock-off of the PackIt. For $12.99 (and $1.99 shipping) I can get four of those; still less than a single PackIt.
And that way I’ll have spares in the freezer for when someone forgets to take their lunchbag out of their backpack in the afternoon. Not that I’m naming any names.
Everybody needs it (I hope)
You have no idea how much restraint I exhibit every single time I post a deal on toilet paper and don’t include a bunch of crude jokes. I am living with a 12-year-old boy, people. It is amazing restraint.
So I’ll just say this: Everyone needs toilet paper, so why not get a deal?
If you like Quilted Northern, Amazon has two deal options for you right now: Get 36 double rolls for just $17.99—$.50/roll—when you buy via Subscribe & Save (remember, that gives you extra savings and free shipping, and you can cancel it later), or if you dont’ have enough room for that, go for 24 double rolls for $12.80 delivered via S&S—$.53/roll—instead. Obviously the former is a better bargain overall, but I understand that sometimes you just don’t have the space (or the cash up front) for the larger bulk deal.
And see? No crude jokes. It’s almost like I’m growing as a person.
