Trilogy me this

You kids today, you don’t even know what’s awesome. You’ve had Blu-ray this and digital that since you were in your cribs. It’s made you soft. Back in my day, we had to go to the theater to see Back to the Future with its terrible special effects and we liked it.

Then there was Jurassic Park, which frankly was the scariest thing we’d ever seen, but that was because back then you couldn’t spend all day on YouTube watching people have Botflies pulled out of their heads. Regardless. We knew when stuff was good, mostly because the choices were limited, sure, but also because some things are just awesome.

Today at Amazon, you can pretend to be a geezer like me when you order either the Back to the Future 25th Anniversary Blu-ray Trilogy or the Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy Blu-ray for just $23.99 apiece. Either way, you’ll be relieving the glory days of when men were men, dinosaurs were scary stuff, and saying “Hello, McFly!” was the harshest insult you could hurl at someone.

I’m not saying you need either of these, I’m just saying your kids may benefit from kickin’ it old school. That’s all.

Smell better

Nothing says “We love you, Dad!” like the implication that he smells bad. Or so the commercials would lead you to believe. Personally, I bet your dad smells fine, but maybe he likes cologne. Or maybe you like Father’s Day as an excuse to get yourself some new perfume. (See? It’s confusing!) Either way.

Right now at Perfumania, you can save 25% on nearly everything with coupon code DAD25. That can be stacked with coupon code SAVE10 for another $10 off your $50 purchase, too. Every order ships for free, automatically, and includes free samples.

So go smell good. Or make someone else smell good. But save some money, while you do it.

Save big now, save more later

How could I have almost missed that the big twice-a-year sale is happening now at Hanna Andersson?? It’s the most wonderful time of the yeeeeeear! When my daughter was little, she had two Hanna dresses and coordinating leggings, and they were pretty much all she ever wanted to wear. Of course, one set came from eBay and the other came from Goodwill, but she wore ’em for two years and then I resold them for more than I paid. (And then she grew up and stopped wearing adorable things like striped playdresses and oh my heart hurts, I need to go lie down.)

Anyway, the savings are spectacular right now—naturally—but even better, when you get your order, you’ll get a discount card to use on their back-to-school items in July. Maybe you won’t be back for a second order so soon, but that’s why God made grandparents.

Save a third at three Gap stores

Today (Monday, June 4th, 2012) only, take 30% off your entire purchase across Gap, Old Navy, and/or Banana Republic with coupon code 24HOURS. The good news is that this works on sale items, as well; the bad news is that there’s a healthy list of excluded items (see sites for details).

If you can make it work on the stuff you want, though, 30% off is nothing to sneeze at. Do you hear that…? It’s me getting sucked into the Old Navy clearance….

Vacation reading material

You know that I never pay much for magazines, on account of I hardly ever actually read the ones I receive. But in the summer we go camping, and that means I catch up on my magazines. (What? You don’t go out into the woods and read magazines?)

Right now Amazon is offering yet another $5 magazine special, with about a dozen-and-a-half different magazines you can get for just $5 for an entire year. Heck, that’s worth it even if you’re just going to let the kids cut ’em up for art projects.

But I do recommend the whole “take the magazines to the woods, read with a frosty drink in one hand” approach. That’s my version of getting back to nature.

A good day for a growth spurt

Did those pesky kids get up this morning an inch taller than they were last night? It happens. Once again Children’s Place is having one of their random free shipping days, with free shipping on every order, automatically.

Save an extra 15% on every order with coupon code SAVINGS62, too. Every little bit counts!

I’ve recently discovered that Children’s Place sunglasses are 1) cheap and 2) serviceable, and now I buy them two or three pairs at a time for my kids (even the teen, who has a petite face). When they have free shipping like this, I’m pretty sure they’re paying more to ship the packages than I’m spending on the glasses.

Get your Angry Birds on

If your kids (or you; I don’t judge) love Angry Birds enough to want them available for your 3D gaming pleasure, check out these two games at Amazon currently available at their lowest prices ever:

Angry Birds: On Thin Ice is currently just $12.95 minus an available $2 off coupon (make sure to click “Clip this coupon” in the middle of the page), and Angry Birds: Knock On Wood is currently $14.60 minus an available $2 off coupon (again, make sure to clip it).

Personally, I prefer my Angry Birds virtual, but I know lots of kids just love these. You certainly can’t beat the price.

The semi-annual sale he doesn’t mind

I hate to fall back on the old trope of the husband suspiciously eyeing shopping bags or boxes and saying, “What did you buy this time? Do you really need more shoes?” But I’m going to do it anyway, because really, sometimes that happens.

Interestingly enough, though, I know of no man who complains when his wife checks out the Semi-Annual Sale at Victoria’s Secret and makes a few purchases. It’s probably because the prices are so good. That must be it.

Needless to say, everything’s on sale, and if you spend $100+ you can ship your order for free with coupon code SHIPVS12. I’m sure you need a few… t-shirts… or something. Yes.

Mr. Clean, I adore you

The cupboard under my kitchen sink is filled with eco-friendly cleaners. Actually, there’s a couple of eco-friendly cleaners, and a big jug of vinegar (my go-to disinfectant). I’m all about keeping the noxious chemicals out of my everyday routine. However, every now and then you just need some mysterious chemical from an alien species to get the grout clean or whatever. And then, of course, you need Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, because they clean everything. This current deal at Amazon—3 boxes of 4 pads each—comes out to under a buck per sponge when you buy via Subscribe & Save. And then each pad can be used until it disintegrates into nothing, which doesn’t happen until you have Cleaned All The Things.

No, I don’t know what’s in them. And I don’t want to know. I just know they work.

Got sandals?

If you somehow made it all the way to almost-June without sandals (or if you need more; I don’t judge), hop on over to Shoes.com today—they’re letting you take an extra 15% off already-reduced sandals with coupon code SANDALSALE. Free shipping and free returns, as always, too.

Of course I discovered that if you just click through the sale, it starts you off with shoes that are 5% off, which is for amateurs. Don’t forget that Shoes.com allows you to sort by percent off. Doing that allows you to start off with the biggest markdowns, so that you can feel the most justified. Heh.
