Black Friday at ThinkGeek: geek Nirvana
There’s little I like more than, well, pretty much everything at ThinkGeek, but it particularly tickles my geeky little heart that one of their Black Friday specials is Buy 1, Get 1 on their plush microbes.
And yes, it works on as many as you want to buy. (That’s good, because I pretty much want to buy all of them.)
They also have those giant Air Swimmers for just $30, which is the cheapest I’ve seen them anywhere. But those kind of freak me out. Just sayin’.
Extra Black Friday coupon savings at 6pm
Oh hey, did I mention that for Black Friday only, 6pm.com released a 10% off coupon code for everyone? Because they did! Just use 6PMBF112511AEM all day today for an extra 10% off whatever you buy.
Don’t forget that they’re unveiling a new $24 deal every hour, plus regular shipping is free, and orders of $100+ get a free 2-day shipping upgrade.
I’m telling you, the folks at 6pm just get prettier and prettier.
Old Navy, Black Friday style
Absolutely everything is on sale today at Old Navy, as part of their Gobblepalooza. (Though I must admit, I preferred yesterday’s splash screen, which advised shoppers to “Hold on to your giblets!” Hee.) For my money, the best deal is 50% off outerwear, but they also have things like $5 performance fleece and other goodies. Shipping is automatically free on your $50+ order.
If you refuse to follow the herd and shop today, that’s cool, too. Go ahead and pick up this $20 Old Navy Groupon for just $10, and shop next week or beyond. (Do note that this Groupon can only be used in-store, not online.)
The husband helps on Black Friday
Do you know how super-awesome my husband is? He is so amazing, he got up with me in the wee hours today and made me coffee. This is love.
Also, he’s a photographer, so while I was busy looking at video games (I am definitely not the adult in this relationship), he was scouting camera deals for me. Er, I mean, for you.
Here’s three high-end point-and-shoots he recommends, at great prices:
The Nikon Coolpix P7000 is currently just $279 at Amazon (a good $120 cheaper than anywhere else). The husband says, “This is a top-of-the-line point and shoot with full manual controls and the ability to access the Nikon flash system.”
The Canon PowerShot S95 is currently just $289 at Amazon ($30 cheaper than elsewhere before the bonus items), and there’s a promotion to get a free mini-HDMI cable and 4GB SDHC card with it, too. The husband says, “That’s one generation back, new S100 came out a few months ago. Great image quality, highly customizable and really small.”
And finally, the Canon G12 is currently just $380 at Amazon with the same bonus items as the other Canon (that’s about $50 off elsewhere before bonus items), and this is the highest-rated camera of the bunch. The husband says, “This is their top-of-the-line point and shoot. Again, everything from full manual to fully automatic and access to Canon’s flash system.”
Isn’t he swell? (Sorry, ladies, his brothers are already married.)
Great Scribblenauts deal
There’s more deals on high-end electronics at Best Buy today that I can possibly cover, but the one I like the best is actually under $10.
Right now you can snag Scribblenauts for just $8 with free shipping! (For reference: that’s less than half Amazon’s sale price.) This is, I think, one of the finest Nintendo DS games there is in terms of being truly creative and engaging kids to think, while still having a ton of fun.
Yes, I recommend this game every year. No, it’s not one of the newest/shiniest/beepiest. But my kids still play it, and I don’t know any kid who doesn’t think it’s awesome.
I’m a sucker for a big TV
Show of hands: Who remembers the year I ended up buying us a new HDTV because I bought my husband a Blu-ray player and then realized it wasn’t going to work with our old TV? That was… not my best year of planning. Ahem.
I ended up with a decent deal on a Panasonic VIERA and we love it, but pardon me if I’m just slightly bitter that this 50″ 1080p Panasonic VIERA at Amazon is just $600—that’s $100 less than I spent years ago on a set with lesser specs. Hmph. And it’s hard to overestimate the free shipping and lack of tax (for most of us; I know some folks still have to pay tax).
Probably you shouldn’t buy one on a whim like I pretty much ended up doing, but if you’re in the market, you could do a lot worse.
Are you ready to shop?
I’m up! I’ve got my coffee! I’m ready to fling around exclamation points like they’re on sale!
It looks like the Lightning Deals at Amazon are going to be the deals to beat, today, and I’m already kicking myself over the ones I missed while I was sleeping. These sell out really quickly, so I won’t be highlighting specific items; it’s best to just keep a window open with those all day, if you’re interested.
I can’t wait to get this day of power shopping underway. Buckle in, my pretties.
Just in case you’re up…
… 6pm.com is doing 24 hours of $24 deals today, one every hour. That’s on top of their regular deals, of course.
Just a little bit of icing on the Black Friday cake, you know. Because if you spend all day shopping for others, maybe you’ll need a little something just for you, too.
A little late-night lacy things shopping?
Whoops, I almost missed this one, because I was busy stalking things like Nintendo DS games today—right now every order at Victoria’s Secret ships for free when you use coupon code GIVETHANKS, plus you can use code 15OFF100 for an extra $15 off your $100+ order. But it’s only good through midnight tonight.
I suppose that means we can cross our fingers that tomorrow will bring even better deals, but free shipping is pretty nice, especially if you’re shopping the clearance.
Consider it a little warm-up to the big event, tomorrow.
Garmin Nuvi, price so groovy
One more deal before I go hunker down with my family, some pie, and the Punkin Chunkin coverage on TV? Okay, if you insist.
Today only, Amazon has the Garmin Nuvi 1390LMT 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Map & Traffic Updates for just $130 shipped—their lowest price ever.
I don’t have this exact model, but our third (hush; I am really terribly navigationally impaired) GPS purchase was a Nuvi with lifetime maps and I love it more than is probably sane. Lifetime maps is a huge bargain, because the units without it will charge something like $70 for an update. So basically for less than the cost of two updates, you get the last unit you’ll ever need.
I mean, unless you can find your way around without one. In which case, good for you, I guess. And would you like to drive me around?
