Super cool solar lightning deal

There’s no way to directly link to this, but it’s so cool I want to point it out—if you go to the Amazon Holiday Lightning Deals section and page through the last current available deal (at least as of this posting), you’ll see Eitech Solar Metal Building Set offered for about 40% off ($80). It looks like a cool cross between Erector and those solar kits you find at the Discovery Store.

Don’t forget, with a qualifying $75 toy purchase, you can add the limited edition Amazon Gund bear to your cart and get it for free ($30 value).

That’s going in the Toys For Tots box, so I feel particularly virtuous about this purchase….

Fisher Price savings

Here’s a good one if you’re looking at a biggish toy purchase: Right now Amazon is offering $20 off $100 on select Fisher Price toys with coupon code FPSAVE20 at checkout. In addition, you can use coupon code TRIOSAVE to take $10 off any $25+ purchase of TRIO sets. The two promotions can be stacked.

The TRIO King’s Castle, for example, is already down to $49.99. Find enough stuff you need to stack both promotions, and you’ll be getting a pretty sweet price, all told.

(Please insert my standard “Why didn’t they have toys this cool when mine were smaller” rant here, because those TRIO sets? Very, very cool.)

Ship it for free, all month

I can’t believe I’m saying this… but… have you looked at all the varieties of Crocs out there right now? Some of them are downright cute. And right now at Crocs.com they’re offering free shipping on every order for the entire month of December. It works even on Outlet items, where there are some really normal-looking shoes for under $10.

Wonders never cease.

Will you get in on it?

Watching the clock count down to 9:00 a.m. (Eastern) to see the new 6pm.com “36 Days of Joy” daily deal may be my newest obsession. I wonder what it’ll be today?

Two minutes and counting….

[Edited to add: I can’t get in, either. I wonder what it is!]

Two more ways to get your vroom-vroom on

How about a pair of remote-control wheelie motorcycles? Amazon has them in red and blue on different frequencies, so you can buy the pair and use ’em together if you like without interference. Both are marked down to just $17 each.

My husband is probably hoping I’ll buy these for him.

Even more Bakugan

If you’re a nicer mom than I am, you may be delighted to discover that right now Bakugan Battle Brawlers for the Nintendo DS is down to $20 at Amazon. It’s all of the Bakugan craziness packed into a single video game, which has the advantage of not leaving weird little magnetic marble creatures stuck all over your house (I find them on the fridge all the time), but has the disadvantage of doing nothing to quell the 24/7 “But if this were Bakugan…” stream of chatter.

It’s a pick-your-poison kind of thing, is what I think I’m saying.

Reminder: Hess truck contest

Don’t forget—you have until just before midnight tonight to enter to win the 2009 Hess truck, which actually isn’t a truck at all, this year, but a pair of race cars (awesome). You can’t win if you don’t enter, so get your comment in if you’d like a shot at it.

As always, remember that contest entries must go on the contest post. This post’s comments are reserved for discussion of the fact that I can’t stop playing with this year’s Elf Yourself. Annette made one of my kids for me and then I went in and made another one. Of my kids. And my dog.

Don’t judge me.

Hulk happy!

Hulk get angry. Hulk smash! But Hulk like bargains. Hulk like it when Hulk Smash is on sale at Amazon for just $8.79. Hulk smash opponent! Hulk save money!

Maybe Hulk spend the saved money on a grammar manual.

Yes, you’ll look dumb

Did I mention that Overstock.com is doing a 25 Days of Christmas promo with one special deal every day? Because they are.

And today they have their… well, they call them “coaster cars,” but I’ve heard them called plasma cars or wiggle cars. Personally, here we call them “wiggle things” and even though my kids are getting older, they still get plenty of play. Heck, I have been known to engage in racing on them, and yeah, I probably look ridiculous, but they’re extremely fun.

Whatever you call them, and no matter how silly you look, $40 shipped is a great price and you’ll get years of use out of them.

Just one day, honest!

I’m sorry, I can’t stop giggling. Today Toys ‘R’ Us is having a “one day only sale,” you know, just in case you were dead on Cyber Monday and Black Friday. (I don’t know why it strikes me as so hilarious. But it does.)

Be that as it may, I can’t help being a little intrigued to note that with the exception of the Star Wars-themed sets, right now most of their Lego is buy one set, get the second half off. If you’ve got a Lego-lover around, that’s not a bad deal… particularly if you pay via Google Checkout, which currently has a $10 off thing going on with TRU.

But it’s just today, you know. Welcome to America.
