Because 40% off is never out of style

Hey, Justice has a brand-spanking-new 40% off code out, which is good news for those of us with tween girls. (And really, don’t those of us with tween girls need all the good news we can possibly get? I say yes.)

Through November 3rd, 2009, use code 775 for an additional 40% off your purchase of regular-price and sale items.

Or just pretend you never saw this, and reply to the next round of pleading about how but everyone has it with, “And if your BFF jumped off a bridge, would you do it, too?” Tween girls love that*.

*I am not a parenting expert. I am also prone to tormenting my children. Honestly, I’m pretty sure my daughter isn’t even speaking to me right now.

Pumpkin cake!

Please go buy one of these pumpkin pans (or 4, as they’re part of the 4-for-3 promotion) and then make me some pumpkin cake. Um, gluten-free, of course.

What? That’s too much to ask?

Fine. Spend the $5.75 to make adorable little Halloween pumpkin cakes for your kids, or something. Ingrates.

(Kidding! Have fun!)

Even if you only order one pen

Usually Office Depot offers free next-day shipping on orders of $50+, but this week, get free shipping on any Office Depot order just because some guy discovered a new continent, or something. I don’t know.

If you need a whole lot of paper, check out the buy 3 cases, get 1 free deal on Hammermill Multipurpose paper. Combined with a code, you can end up with paper for under $3/ream.

Save more depending on what you spend! Use code 45309691 to take $10 off your $40+ order, or use code 46332983 to take $20 off your $100+ order.

(I generally use this deal to stock up on toilet paper and/or paper towels. Glamorous, I know.) (Ooooh, check out the Clearance Center, too. Depending on your area, you may find great goodies in there for teacher gifts.)

That’s half off

It’s been a while since we had a good code for Lane Bryant, but today’s your lucky day! Or tomorrow, I guess. Because today and tomorrow (October 13th and 14th), you can use coupon code 000205849 to take $20 off your $40+ purchase. (It should work on everything except Spanx.)

Now, if you’re me, you’d then go figure out how to make your order pretty much exactly $40. I know it’s an illness, but I’m okay with that.

Print a picture, it’ll last longer

Today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal is the Canon Pixma MP560 photo printer for an astonishingly low $85 shipped.

As photo printers go, this one garners a pretty good rating. On the other hand, it’s not particularly small, so depending on your needs you may wish to hold out for a smaller, more portable printer.

I am pretty much just a sucker for good deals on heavy things where you get free shipping, because I like to count the probable shipping cost as part of the savings. Because I’m a geek that way.

Yum yum, cheap cheap

Whoops, I almost forgot this one—today’s the last day to use coupon code FOUR at Restaurant.com to take 80% off your order.

That means you can bag some $25 dining certificates for just $2 out of pocket, and because they take Paypal you can pretend you paid with change you found in the couch cushions. (Isn’t that what Paypal is…? Virtual coins in your Internet couch…?)

Some restrictions do apply, so be sure to read the fine print on any restaurant whose certificates you’re purchasing (some have day of the week restrictions, others have a minimum purchase amount, etc.). But overall, I find these certificates a little lifesaver in the quest to preserve date night, even on a budget.

Winners of the Michael Connelly contest

(I warned you that today was going to be contest-y… next contest coming up in a jiffy, too….)

So! Many of you wanted to check out Michael Connolly’s latest Harry Bosch tale, and five of you will receive the new book, and one lucky grand prize winner will receive the new book along with a handful of others in the series.

Without further ado: Our winners of Nine Dragons are: Tina (commenter 117), Stephanie (commenter 122), Bonnie Cormier (commenter 149), Maria (commenter 41), and Kristen (commenter 72).

And our grand prize winner is commenter 5, Ellen! Congratulations to all—winners, please check your email!

Big thanks to all who played, and special pink and fuzzy thanks to our pals at Hachette for continuing to keep us in great reading material. This new(ish) relationship with Hachette—enabling me to do multiple giveaways of great new books from awesome authors—is kind of a book nerd’s dream, and they are very generous to give away as many books as they do. Thank you!

This week’s contest is moments away, pinky swear. And then, back to the deals.

It all makes sense, somehow

Happy Columbus Day! Columbus set sail for a new land, long ago, hoping to make a big discovery and find fabulous shoes.

Well, okay. Maybe not. But we’ve been celebrating holidays with good shoe sales for years, and really, Columbus did set the ball in motion for an entire people to get out from under those horrid buckled shoes that were so big with the British at the time. Just sayin’.

Find your perfect kicks at the Shoes.com Columbus Day Sale and take 25% off already-reduced sale and clearance items with coupon code 1492.

Or check out today’s deals at 6pm.com—they’re featuring Donald J. Pliner, Nike, XOXO, Simple, and more.

Over at Shoebuy, use code COLUMBUS for an additional 20% off your purchase (and shipping is always free).

And finally, take $20 off your $100+ purchase at Famous Footwear today with coupon code FALL09.

I think Columbus would approve, really.

If all they want for Christmas is new tunes

Teenagers. I don’t have any yet (have a couple more years, thank goodness), but I hear they’re completely incorrigible. Thank goodness I was never one! (Uhhh… wait….)

Most teens I know consider cash the very best gift possible, but second to that, they’ll take an iTunes card. Know anyone like that? If you do, allow me to make your holiday shopping a snap: Right now you can pick up a $50 iTunes card at Best Buy for just $40 shipped. It’s currently back-ordered, but you’ve got some time before you need it, right?

And, uh, if you’re looking for stocking stuffers? My guess is that any store would be happy to exchange your $50 card for 5 $10 ones if you ask nicely.

If you liked it then you shoulda put a label on it

It’s a dreary, rainy Monday morning, and things could be extremely bleak around here.

But! I know how y’all like label makers. (Why? I don’t know. You are a bunch of highly organized folks, I guess.)

Today you can go all top-of-the-line: Buy.com has the Brother PT-1880 Deluxe labeler for just $12 shipped. (For comparison and review purposes, check it out at Amazon, where it’s still $40.)

You can become even more organized, yourself, or you can totally get some brownie points for Junior by stocking up on teacher gifts. Just sayin’.
