Lava lamps! (Yes. Lava lamps.)
Check out today’s Graveyard Mall Deal of the Day—it’s an assortment of lava lamps so vast, you could totally get one to match every room in the house. Then you could nickname the place Casa Lava and the neighbors would look at you funny, but it would be totally worth it.
No? Oh, fine. How about just one? I’ve yet to meet a kid who doesn’t think these things are the coolest invention ever. (Got tweens? I’m thinking gift closet….)
Shred me, break me
It seems like everyone I know is “miraculously” getting in shape in just 20 minutes a day, using the widely-touted 30 Day Shred DVD from Jillian Michaels.
Personally, I suspect that if I buy a copy, despite the extra jiggle in my thighs, it will languish (possibly on top of my Wii balance board, ahem) and collect dust while I bemoan my inability to get into shape and continue sitting at my desk. But desperate times call for desperate measures, and the DVD is only $9 right now….
I may just throw it in my cart while I’m looking at the DVDs on sale for Father’s Day. I’ll think about it. (Come to think of it, I’m guessing my husband might prefer a newly-shredded body on his wife over another movie….)
I’d like to meet the guys
“Hey, how can we best ensure that kids hurt each other, and possibly even break their wiimotes?”
“I dunno.”
“I’m thinking. Wait! I’ve got it!! How about we make light sabers that attach?”
“That’s brilliant. Let me write up the product copy. Hmmmm. Oh! ‘Perfect for slashing games!'”
“We are brilliant!”
“Yes. Yes, we are.”
They need more games
Or so my children tell me—they always insist they need more games for their DSs.
If you believe them (or your kids!), you might want to check out the current buy 1, get 1 half off sale on Nintendo DS games going on now at Toys ‘R’ Us. (Thanks, Heather!)
Or you might want to deliver a lecture about starving children in Africa who don’t have Nintendo DSs. Personally, I’m opting for the latter. But whatever works for you is good.
Live on the Edge
The current Lightning Deal in the Amazon Gold Box is National Geographic’s “Journey to the Edge of the Universe” for just $10.49 (63% off). This looks amazing and will sell out quickly. Go, go!
They appreciate you
Know what Dad loves? PBS. And they appreciate you, over there at the PBS Store, so much so that for an entire week—until June 15th, 2009—they’re letting you take 25% off of anything at all with coupon code PBSTHANKS. Pick up something for Dad, or grab something educational for the whole family. Shipping on your $60+ order is automatically free.
It’s public television, for goodness’ sake. I’m pretty sure supporting PBS is in the Constitution or something.
Let’s pretend it’s the end of the month!
Usually Restaurant.com waits until the end of the month to pull out their big discount codes, but I guess it’s our lucky day. Right now you can take 80% (!!) off your purchase with coupon code PRESENT, which means you can pick up a $25 certificate for just $2 out of pocket! And they take Paypal, too.
Don’t you deserve a nice meal out? You totally do.
A good day for pants (and other stuff)
Today (June 9th, 2009) only, Dockers is offering free shipping on every order. Just because! So load up and get it all for free.
I know we’re all supposed to think about Dockers as being pants for the guys, but I have several pairs of their shorts and pants and really like them. And I always like free shipping!
An afternoon dose of dailies
(I got so excited about Joshilyn’s book, I almost forgot to post this afternoon. Whoops!)
You didn’t forget about your daily deals, did you? Of course you didn’t! But here’s a little reminder:
I’m surfing through the unbeatable shoe deals at 6pm.com right now. Erm, I mean, I’m working very hard….
Target’s brought back the Dirt Devil Plum Cone Broom/Stick Vac deal for their daily deal today. Two handy vacuums for under $50!
Kohls has a pretty nifty poker chip set on sale for their Daily, but they’re also offering $.99 shipping on every item and today only, you can use coupon code BESTDAD15 for an additional 15% off (works for everyone, not just Kohls card holders).
Just in case you needed something to do this afternoon. I’m just trying to help.
If you must Microsoft
Y’all know I’m a Mac girl, so I’ll try to refrain from editorializing while I pass this one along: Pretty Michelle was kind enough to let me know that right now, Microsoft is offering Office 2007 for just $59.95 to students. That’s (supposedly) 91% off of retail.
You must have a valid .edu email address to take advantage of this deal.
Or you could just buy a Mac, instead. (Darn. So close! I almost finished the post without doing that. Oh, well.)
