How about a free container of hand soap? I don’t know about your kids, but mine seem to use about half a bottle of the stuff every time they’re told to wash up.
As an aside, remember how we’ve talked about giving your dollars to companies you admire? I am a proud supporter of Dove products both because they are affordable and because I just love this. Love it. I’m always happy to give Dove my money. They’re doing more than just selling shampoo. The only way I could love them more would be if they actually came over here and cleaned my house.

Wow. Um. It’s not that I don’t appreciate the shameless sucking up and all, but that wasn’t really what I had in mind when I mentioned having a contest.
Ahem.
No, I was talking about your chance to will some of the hottest merchandise around, something that will make small children shriek with glee and parents have extremely mixed feelings about whether or not even Mozart would’ve been considered genius if a toddler had forced his mother to listen to the same piece over and over and over again…. Remember how I said that I hardly ever have to actually buy souvenirs for my kids when I travel? This trip did not fail to live up to swag expectations.
My children are oohing and aahing over the t-shirts, rulers with embedded caculators, fancy pens, and post-it notes. Oh, and the nasty-tasting but whimsical plane-shaped crackers from the airline. All free. They’re happy, and so’s my budget.
I’m setting aside the saved money for the kids’ therapy funds, natch. Someday they’ll need to spend some time working through their mother’s cheapness. So, for posterity: Mama loves you, kids. More than bargains, I swear.

I apologize for the radio silence; the internet at the hotel here is a bit fickle. (A bit fickle = nonexistent 99% of the time.)
Have you survived okay without me? You didn’t pay full price for anything while I was gone, did you? Wait. If you did, don’t tell me. I can’t bear to know.
Anyhoo, I thought maybe we’d kick off the week with a contest. I have some free stuff to give away and I’ll spend my entire cross-country flight home today figuring out how we’ll do it. (And maybe eating peanuts and reading a trashy novel. I can multitask.) Stay tuned for all the details tomorrow.

The time change has me all turned around and confused, but I’m pretty sure it’s Friday all over the U.S. and Canada right now. Isn’t it?
(You in the back, hush. It’s not nice to make fun of the mentally impaired.)
While I suffer for my craft (translation: sit here at BlogHer surrounded by some of the most amazing women writers of our time, eating free food and performing Vulcan mind melds), you should check out the Friday Sale at Amazon. If you want to.
If you’re here at BlogHer? For heaven’s sake, come say hi!

Good morning! This little tidbit is something I learned from Carmen yesterday, and she had bags of coffee to prove it, so it must be true.
Apparently Starbucks takes the bottom cup of beans or so from every industrial-sized bag they use and wrap them up and give them out rather than repackaging and reselling then. Some Starbucks’ leave them sitting on the counter, some you have to ask for them. But what you’ll get is a nice little package of enough beans to brew a pot of coffee. For free.
Starbucks, I hereby officially repent of referring to you as the Evil Empire.
