Popcorn nirvana

September 30, 2006 | Hot Hot Hot!

For those of you who got in on this deal, you already know that Dale and Thomas is an amazing company. On the previous deal, those of us who ordered the free strawberry popcorn (for just $2.95 shipping and handling) completely lucked out; they got so many complaints about that flavor not being up to snuff, everyone who ordered it also received a second shipment of two more bags. (I received kettle corn and chipotle cheddar, which were both so good I ate every last bite and didn’t share with the kids. Oops.)

They are officially now the Company I Love To Hate. I hate that they make delicious, calorie-laden goodness and are so goshdarned nice about it, to boot. Hmph. I have been avoiding them like the plague, lest I succumb and end up weighing 500 lbs.

But guess what! Carmen had to go and tell me that October is Free Popcorn Month! It brings another opportunity to order either 1 or 2 bags of free gourmet popcorn for just $2.95 shipping per bag. You don’t get to select which of their four featured flavors you’ll receive, but who cares. I’m drooling just looking at the pictures.

I may just have to order. For, uh, teacher gifts. Yeah, that’s it.

Friday, all day

Hot Hot Hot!

It’s a rainy Friday in my neck of the woods, and I would like to crawl back into bed. But maybe you’d like to do some shopping.

Overstock.com, Inc.Overstock is still offering 10% off all orders through the end of the month (click on the graphic or right here to activate your coupon) and they’re having a sale on… let’s see… everything. Heh. Kidding! They’re having a sale on furniture.

The Amazon Friday Sale has this Calphalon pan again, if you missed it the last dozen times it was in the Friday sale. (Makes me wonder how many of those Amazon has….)

If you don’t already own a Hoover FloorMate, let me just tell you that I love mine and will never go back to mopping. (And you can use the FALLSAVE coupon if you find something else you need that brings your total up to $125. Oooh, maybe this cutlery set?)

You may have guessed by now that I have a thing for hard-anodized aluminum cookware. So I have to show you these mini au gratins, which make me want to kiss them and hug them and call them George, they’re so cute.

Also, I have no idea why I would want a hipshot compressor, but it’s 74% off and looks really manly, so, um, there ya go.

Not in the mood for shopping, but wanting a freebie? Don’t forget, tomorrow is Museum Day!

Batteries.com is at it again

Hot Hot Hot!

Here’s their current deal: Get a set of 50 batteries with organizer for just $9.99. It’s a $29.99 value—40 AAs and 10 AAAs—on sale for $12.99, and you can use coupon code OCT to get an additional 20% off and $.99 shipping on your order.

I really want to jump on this deal just in principle, but my butter holder is still full of AAs from the last time I did one of their deals.

(What? You don’t keep your batteries in the butter compartment?)

Free lip gloss

September 28, 2006 | Hot Hot Hot!

Hey, if you decide the ELF stuff is too rich for your blood, how about this instead?

Receive a free Social Climber lip gloss from the Oxygen Network.

(Is Social Climber the brand or the color? Do you think it contains teeny tiny stiletto heels with which to stab the backs of people you don’t like? No?)

Fancy-schmancy acne products

Hot Hot Hot!, Quick Tips

I suffer from adult acne. And I do mean suffer. I’m always trying this or that product, and I’ve yet to find the perfect combination that truly keeps me acne-free. For the most part, if I can keep it down to just a few blemishes at a time, I feel like I’m doing okay.

And the truth is that—for most people—nothing trumps a basic benzoyl peroxide treatment. I vary the cleaners and toners I use, but it’s that little white tube that keeps the zits at bay. The bigger issue, to my mind, is keeping the rest of your skin healthy while staving off the pimples.

I’ve heard wonderful things about Proactiv, but it’s against my religion to use a product hawked by Jessica Simpson. Also, it’s very expensive. But I just ran across this comparable regimen, and I may try it out.

Order up to three trial-size AcneFree kits for just $6.95 shipping. You pay just $6.95 whether you order 1 or 3, so that’s a no-brainer. Each kit lasts a week.

Take that, Proactiv.

Makeup for $1

Hot Hot Hot!

I’ve gotten email from about a dozen of you, alerting me to this huge sale on Bloomingdales’ line of make-up. There are often lots of exclamation points involved. I was resisting posting it, but now I feel I must because I can only read the same email so many times before I remember that even if the deal doesn’t thrill me, it apparently is exciting to everyone else. So.

Here’s the skinny: ELF (Eyes Lips Face) Cosmetics is selling everything for a dollar right now. Contrary to the slew of email I received, I actually think that’s their regular schtick, not a promotion thing. Anyway. They are not affiliated with Bloomingdales or anyone else. ELF is just ELF. And I’ve heard mixed reviews of their products, so your mileage may vary.

If you want to try them out, and $1/apiece for makeup isn’t quite cheap enough for you, get your order up to $25 and use coupon code SHIPIT.

Stock up on cereal and granola bars

Hot Hot Hot!, Groceries

You have to be pretty hungry (or have a large family) for this one, but what a deal:

From now through October 31st, spend just $39 on qualifying Cascadian Farms products and receive a $20 gift certificate to use towards a future purchase.

The prices are decent, already, and the stuff is practically free when you figure in the gift certificate. Also? Organic granola bars. My shrivelled little heart just grew three sizes.

Did someone say toys?

September 27, 2006 | Hot Hot Hot!, For the kids

Get free shipping and an additional 25% off at Hasbro with coupon code FALL25. Expires October 9th, 2006.

Lots of “hot” kids’ toys to be had, in addition to a variety of possibilities for those hard-to-buy-for adults on your shopping list.

I may or may not be putting one of these on my wish list this year.

Stop laughing at me.

Free microdermabrasion

Hot Hot Hot!

Personally, I find that letting my son drive Hot Wheels cars all over my face provides all of the refreshing exfoliation I could ever want, but you may feel differently. Or not have a son who drives cars on your face. (In which case, do you want one? Because he is for sale to interested parties.)

Where was I? Oh! Right!

Mary Kay is giving away samples of their TimeWise Microdermabrasion Set to U.S. residents as long as supplies last. I have never understood the obsession with Mary Kay cosmetics, but I have to say that I have the Satin Hands set and there is nothing like it for dry winter hands. And for free, I’ll try out this stuff, too.
