Scholastic treasures for hours and hours

Do you have a portable DVD player? Best investment I ever made. We routinely hop in the car for a 1,000+ mile drive (each way) to visit family for the holidays, and let me tell you, I am happy to have it. It prevents me from eating my young. Because as much as I love singing songs and playing license plate Bingo and such, sometimes, I just want a few hours of quiet. (I recommend buying a player with headphones….)

Games at stocking-stuffing prices

I don’t know if the Leapster is considered a “hot toy” anymore, but I know it was really big last year and the year before, which means that you may have a small child who already owns one. If you’re looking for a few cheap games, check out Leapster Arcade: Cosmic Math and Leapster Arcade: Word Chasers—both are currently just $6.99 at Amazon, right now.

And while you’re at Amazon, you may also want to check out Cranium Wow, currently marked down to $12.99. This is a 12+ game, so while the little ones play on their Leapsters, the grown-ups can play a game, too! If only it came with snacks, this would be perfect.

More Amazon goodness

Okay, so I know we’ve talked about the Flip Camcorders here before. The latest Flip is called the Mino, and it now has HD capability and can make a perfect over-easy egg. Well, only one of those things is true, actually, but anyway, Amazon has a MinoHD bundle deal today: Buy the Mino (for $206.99, which is only 10% off, but this is a brand-spanking-new item and I’ve not seen it on sale elsewhere), and choose two accessories for free.

There’s a bunch of different cases from which to choose, but if you do this deal, be sure to grab the little Flip tripod. We use ours a lot more than I thought we would.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I have a date with a turkey, but I just wanted to point out a couple of things in case you’re doing some shopping before you rush off over the river and through the woods, or whatever.

First, the George Foreman Next Grilleration (this is the one with five kinds of removable grilling plates) is down to $49.99, and would make a lovely gift for someone who likes to cook. Or someone who thinks they can’t cook. Or really, anyone who likes food.

Second, High School Musical: Sing It for the Wii is just $19.99 right now (half price), so if you have a HSM fan and a new Wii, you might want to check that one out.
