A shirt bonus to make you giggle
(Hey, I have power! Let me type quickly, here….)
Okay so this is making me laugh really hard: Shirt.Woot has a deal going right now where any shirt purchase also gets you A.S.S.S.—A Stupid Small Shirt as a bonus in your order. As usual for Woot, their copy about the promotion is hilarious, and hey, who doesn’t want a free random shirt?
Do note that I find Woot shirts to run a little small; my 14-year-old son wears a men’s small and we recently had to retired a much beloved Woot shirt of his because he outgrew it. I’ll buy him mediums from Woot even though he still wears smalls, elsewhere. The bonus small shirt can go to his big (but smaller) sister, I guess. Figure a men’s small is (after washing) going to be equivalent to a Junior’s small or maybe a kids’ 12-14.
Today’s featured shirt (free shipping) has a bunch of palindromes on it. Nerdtastic!
A quick note (not dead!)
I know posting has been verrrry sloooowwwww here lately, and I apologize. We were dealing with some family stuff, and right now we are in the middle of one of those storms which is predicted to grind life to a halt here in the south.
My entire Facebook feed looks like this:
Southerner: I have milk and bread!!
Northerner: You know, we have storms worse than that in the summer.
Southerner: But ice! Tree branches! BRB, doing laundry!
Northerner: Get some salt trucks, wimps.
Southerner: POWER OUTAGES! CHARGE ALL THE THINGS!
So… yeah. Back in a few days, I hope.
Awwww… heartfelt savings
Want to go traditional this Valentine’s Day? Never fear, today the Amazon Gold Box is filled with up to 70% off heart pendant necklaces, all of which also have free 1-day shipping so that you’ll get ’em in time. This combines the age-old insistence on Valentine’s being about hearts with the more modern insistence of items being discounted, plus shipping quickly and for free.
Win-win all around!
Two great themes that game great together
It feels like we just came off of Christmas, and it seems impossible that anyone could need any more video games at this point, but who knows—maybe there’s a birthday coming up, maybe the Easter Bunny is looking for basket help, or maybe you’re just organized enough that you’re already shopping for next Christmas. I don’t know. What I do know is that, currently, Amazon has Angry Birds Star Wars for the Wii or the Nintendo 3DS for just $9.99 (its lowest price ever). I also know that the game has stellar reviews, and in a world where my kids always seem to want the games that $40-$50, this one is a no-brainer.
I also know that I wouldn’t be able to play this one to save my life. It’s official; I’m old, because most video games are too complicated for me. Oh, well. Who wants to play Mario Kart…?
Save even more for your tweens
Those of you who’ve been around for a while know that I have a complicated relationship with the store Justice; on the one hand, some of their stuff horrifies me as passing for fashion for tweens. On the other hand, some of their stuff is adorable, and the rare purchase from Justice won me some serious Cool Mom points, back in the day. You see the conflict.
Today (Tuesday, February 4th) they’re having a flash sale at both Justice and Brothers—coupon code 710 is automatically applied, giving you 40% off everything, but today you’ll also get an additional 20% off on top of that. The extra savings applies to everything except pajamas and clearance, so if you were shopping anyway, why not save extra? They even carry school uniform stuff (and it’s normal-looking).
Shipping starts at $6, and returns are free.
Feeling flirty in the kitchen…?
On the one hand, I almost sort of hate that Flirty Aprons is a thing. I mean, it’s 2014! Must we?? On the other hand, their stuff is terribly cute, and maybe a pretty apron while you bring home the bacon and fry it up in a pan (or maybe you bring home the tofu, I don’t know) is okay. Clearly I’m torn.
Well, today (Monday, February 3rd) only, whether you’re on the fence or not, use coupon code FLIRTYLOVE40 to take 40% off and get free shipping. That takes most of their women’s aprons down to around $20, men’s to just $18, or their (adorable!) kids’ aprons down to just $12.
Then even have coordinating oven and dishwashing mitts, because nothing says flirty like… um… proper hand protection…? Yeah, let’s go with that.
Double the savings at Delia’s
Have a teen who loves all things Delia’s? Today’s the day to shop—you can use coupon code EXTRA50 for an additional 50% off clearance prices.
Shipping is free on your $75+ order with coupon code DHB, or free on any order if you have ShopRunner (and remember, you can sign up for a free trial any time).
They’ve got tons of Converse sneakers and sparkly party dresses in the clearance… smells like teen spirit! Or it smells like prom. Either way.
DIY closet, c-h-e-a-p
My first apartment after I graduated from college was a tiny space in a converted slum of a house where the curtains blew in the breeze and turning on the heat caused the circuit to trip and leave the entire house without electricity. Good times. (And by “good times” I mean “thank the lord above that I didn’t have to live there for too long.”) My bedroom—barely big enough to hold my bed and desk—had no closet.
I wish Amazon had existed back then, so I could’ve nabbed this double-rod closet for just $35 shipped; it works as a free-standing arrangement, or can be adapted to work inside an actual closet. As it was, I think all I had was an assembly of milk crates and despair to use for clothes storage.
I’m about to go full-out “you kids today have it too easy!” on you, so I’d just slowly back away and grab that closet, if I were you. Just saying.
Safety first on the road
The Atlanta area is finally reopening late this morning. My Facebook feed is full of people driven crazy by being stuck at home with their kids. This must be the one good thing about having teenagers: I kind of enjoyed our forced time at home. Otherwise, I barely see them.
Anyway! If teens seem impossible to you, because you’re still in the diapering-and-nose-wiping stage of parenting, you might be interested to know that Amazon has a bunch of Evenflo car seats marked down right now. Get the Tribute in Gunther for $45.46 or the Tribute 5 for $48; both are convertible, 5-40 pounds seats which work facing both front and back. Alternatively, the Chase LX Booster for $48, which works from 22-110 pounds.
As always, have yourself a little laugh at the supposed original pricing. Really, Amazon? You had the Tribute 5 at $200? I don’t think so. And the booster isn’t even listed as being marked down, even though it’s their lowest price ever. Oooookay.
Discounts on everything you need (or don’t)
I swear that Bon-Ton comes in second only to Kohls for me in terms of finding things I absolutely didn’t know I needed until I saw them on sale.
Today at Bon-Ton you can ship every order for free with coupon code FREESHIP, plus apparel is up to an extra 30% off with coupon code JAN29SAVE30. If you’re buying home goods, use coupon code SALATEJAN14 for an extra 15% off. Just as a reminder, coupon codes work on red-label Clearance items, but not on Yellow Dot clearance.
Yes, this is one of those stores that’s always having a sale, but some of the prices are too good to pass up. Worth a look.
