40 years of Doonesbury
If you love Doonesbury, I suspect this is a price mistake, so grab it fast: Amazon has 40: A Doonesbury Retrospective on sale right now for $7.17 (with a $3.99 shipping charge). It claims the normal price is $100, which is a bit of a stretch, but a quick check reveals that it normally goes for around $65. (Heck, right there in the sidebar it’s showing that they’ll give you $10.60 on a gift card for selling them a used one….)
This is a heck of a bargain, if you can’t get enough dry political humor….
Stock up on Kashi products
Let me just take a minute here to say that I am making displeased eyebrows in Amazon’s general direction over some of their recent changes. First it was that you had to wait for your Subscribe & Save orders, even if you had Prime. Then it was all sorts of Prime-eligible items going to “add-on” status, which loosely translates to “Yeah, we decided not to honor the free shipping on this unless you buy more stuff.” Next came the S&S discount dropping to only 5%, unless you buy at least five S&S items. Then it was this grouping-together of Subscribe & Save items, so anything I order today won’t be here for 5 weeks because all of the stuff I ordered last month is shipping this week (finally). Amazon is rapidly becoming a lot less convenient/cheap than it used to be, is my point.
All of that aside, I do still use it for bulk purchases and savings on grocery items I know we’ll eat. (And yes, most of this is stuff you could buy at a similar price at Costco. I do not have a local Costco.) Today’s find: Great prices on Kashi cereals and snacks—items are at least 20% off, and then you save another 5% with Subscribe & Save (if you can wait to get your stuff…), or an additional 20% if you hit the 5-items mark. While I do a lot of baking, I like their cereal bars for grab-n-go snacks that the kids love.
Plus, I just ordered two different flavors, so now I’m 2/5 of the way to that 20% off on my Subscribe & Save shipment for May. Darn you, Amazon.
A great luggage deal, no foolin’
Today at Bon-Ton they’re offering free shipping on every order with coupon code—what else?—FREESHIP. But they’re also letting you use coupon code MARCH25OFF2 for an additional 20% off nearly everything (yellow dot clearance is excluded, but other clearance is not). There’s obviously some great deals to be had, is my point.
If you’re in the market for luggage, take a look at the home clearance—on the first page you’ll see the 5-piece Leisure Charleston set in your choice of 3 colors, marked down to $50. That means it’s just $40 shipped with the coupon, and while I wouldn’t necessarily call this a 5-piece set (because big deal, laundry bag and a toiletry zip-top), you get a garment bag and two really nice suitcases. The larger one is a spinner, even. Hard to beat that for the price.
Or if you don’t need luggage, get something else. That’s a great deal if you need suitcases, though.
Easter Day deals!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been cooking for several hours, and now it’s time to stop and peek at the deals online. Don’t look at me like that; it’s a good diversion from being hungry. Here’s some deals that are good today only:
Best Buy has the Kindle Fire HD marked down to just $230, and if you apply coupon code FIREEGG it’ll drop another $10, making it just $220. (For reference: The cheapest you can get that model at Amazon is $269.)
Children’s Place is offering 25% off everything with coupon code T2M253H, today, along with free shipping on any size order. Because of course they are.
Today Kohls is offering 15% off any order with coupon code LILY or 20% off your $100+ order with code TULIP. Shipping is automatically free on $75+, or use code FORU50SHIP today for free shipping on $50+. You can redeem your Kohls Cash from the last earning period right now, too, so it could be a good day to shop.
Check out the savings at the Gap family today: Old Navy is giving you 30% off today with coupon code THANKYOU, Gap is giving you 40% off with coupon code GAPEGG, and Banana Republic is also doing 40% off, with code SAVE40BR. Remember the sites share a basket, and if your cumulative total across sites is $50+ (or if you add anything at all from Piperlime), your order ships for free.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day filled with the best possible bargains in life. (That would be: family and friends. And also maybe a deviled egg that kind of broke so you had to eat it.)
Recline away
If you’ve been looking for a deal on zero-gravity recliners, I offer this one with the caveat that there are no reviews (yet) and I have no personal experience with this brand. That said, Amazon has a trio of options from Camco, right now—choose from tan fern, black swirl, or green swirl fabrics, and they’re all just $38 apiece.
These chairs tend to run around $100 regularly, maybe $50ish on sale. So if these are any good, the price is certainly right. Might be worth taking a chance.
Stock up on (good) smelly stuff
If you love Bath & Body Works, right now they’re running Buy 3, Get 3 on their entire Signature collection. Plus hand soaps are 4 for $15 or 6 for $20, right now.
That’s pretty good, but we can do better: Use coupon code TWENTY25 to save another 20%, plus you’ll get $1 shipping on your $25+ order. Perfect! You can get a few things you want/need, stock up the gift closet some, and you don’t even have to hit the store. I mean, I love this stuff as much as the next person, but the store gives me an instant headache (hello, wall o’ overwhelming fragrance).
Get ready to garden
I know some of you are still buried in snow—and I’m sorry about that—but the good news is that spring is coming. And if you’re a gardener, chances are you’ve been gearing up to make a purchase over at Burpee. If so, let me make it a little sweeter for you: Right now you can stack coupon codes GARDEN15 (for 15% off) and AFFSHIPPER (for free shipping).
It’s not a huge savings, but if it’s for an order you were going to place anyway….
(And I’m only a little bitter that they don’t ship tomato plants to GA. Just as well; they don’t ship them until April 30th, and I’ll be planting next week.)
Cuckoo for Coco Puffs? No, cocoa for Christmas!
How’s your gift closet looking? This is the time of year when I often scoop up deals on cocoa to save for next Christmas. (It is my belief that cocoa is a perfect winter gift for just about anyone, other than people who are either allergic to chocolate or who hate babies and kittens.) If you’re still living the life of “Oh hey Mom, I need teacher gifts for everyone on this list,” this one’s for you.
Amazon currently has the Cocoa Amore The Twelve Cocoas of Christmas, Variety Pack available for $4 (less, if you buy via Subscribe & Save). This contains 12 servings of fancy flavored cocoa in a pretty box, and would stack up easily in your closet for next year’s teachergiftapalooza. By way of comparison, take a look at this other Cocoa Amore Christmas Collection; it only has 5 servings and costs $3 (with no Subscribe & Save option).
Quick tip about buying food from Amazon that’s pertinent here: If you hesitate to buy this because you’re worried about the expiration date, don’t worry, because if you receive an item that expires in less than a year, Amazon will refund your money if you ask. (Yes, you have to contact customer service, but I’ve never had a situation where I received a food item with a short expiration where they didn’t just refund my purchase price and tell me to keep it.)
Portable data storage just got even cheaper
Every now and then, my husband gets into a “You young whippersnappers sit down and listen to stories about how much money I spent on memory for that first computer I built myself” sort of mood. (The children just love this, as I’m sure you might imagine.) Look, there’s no denying that computer memory and storage is just getting bigger and cheaper, but maybe someone could tell my darling spouse that the rest of us are kind of over it.
Anyway! Right now you can snag this Western Digital My Passport 2TB Portable External Hard Drive for just $110 shipped. [Note: That link takes you to Rakuten Shopping, which is the new name of the old Buy.com, and then that particular product and price is from Beach Camera, but through them. Clear as mud, yes? Okay.] For comparison/reviews, you can check out the same item on Amazon, where it still costs almost $150 (boo), but has over 2,000 reviews with a cumulative score of 4.4 stars (yay).
Seriously, two terabytes of storage for $110. Don’t tell my husband, he’ll talk your ear off.
Print your memories, save your money
Have you made any photo gifts at Shutterfly lately? They’re perfect for every occasion, plus they’re a great way to break out of the “of course I take pictures of my kids, I just never print them…” cycle. (Not that anyone who is typing this post knows anything about that. Nosirree. I have some gorgeous photos of my kids on the wall, and they’re totally recent! Like, seven years recent. Hush.)
Whether you’re just getting prints or making something else, you can always stack up coupons to get the best deal. Right now they’re offering free shipping on your $30+ order with coupon code SHIP30, plus you can take $10 off any $10+ order with coupon code BUMP10. Plus a bunch of products are on sale, already.
So go ahead—get that “just because” order in, or knock a birthday or other holiday gift off your list. Might as well save the bucks while you do it!
