Two for one on giggle-worthy shirts

If you have teens, or if you can just appreciate a snarky t-shirt, surely you’re already well-acquainted with LOLShirts. Today you can shop any of the regular-price shirts—which are only $12.99 to begin with; hardly expensive—and use coupon code DOUBLETROUBLE to get 2-for-1 pricing. Buy two shirts, pay for just one. Buy four shirts, pay for two. Etc.

I’m thinking the “I survived the Mayan Apocalypse” shirts maybe need to get in my cart.

Crunchy, healthy, yummy

A while back when our family was having a tough time, a sweet friend of mine delivered a “care package” for us that was full of snacks. First, I was deeply touched that she’d gone to the trouble to do that for us, and second, I pulled out the bag of included chips and went, “What the heck are these??” The “these” in question were Simply 7 Lentil Chips, and while I like lentils as much as the next hippie, I was skeptical, to say the least. But! They were delicious, and they were also 1) gluten-free, 2) high in protein, and 3) a good source of iron. What’s not to love?

So I went to the store to buy some after I inhaled that first bag. And it was there that I discovered they retail for like $4.50/bag (a little high for my regular snack budget).

Amazon to the rescue!! Right now they have an available $8 coupon you can clip on various Simply 7 chips. Go for my favoriate, the 12-pack of Sea Salt Lentil Chips, and when you clip the coupon and buy via Subscribe & Save, it comes out to $23.81 shipped, or just under $2/bag. If you’re feeling more adventuresome, snag the Mixed Chips Variety Pack for $23.35 delivered, after coupon and S&S. (Pomegranate chips?? I may have to try those.)

It’s nearly guilt-free snacking, and at this price, why not?

Your last day for Bon-Ton clearance deals

if you’ve been putting off scoping out the clearance at Bon-Ton, today (Tuesday, January 15th) would be an excellent day to take advantage of some deals that are about to end.

First, there’s the clearance itself, obviously—up to 70% off regular prices. Then you can use coupon code JANCLRNCE13 today only to take another 10-20% off that (depending on item category). Plus, get free shipping on any size order with coupon code SHIPFREE. Stack up all the savings and score, is what I’m saying.

I, uh, may have noticed that there are some very pretty boots on sale. But there’s plenty in every department, trust me.

Clip it, clip it good

If you’ve been thinking about taking on home haircuts, or you’d just like to have some clippers handy to clean up necks/sideburns between haircuts, you could do a lot worse than this Philips Norelco QC5130 Hair Clipper. It’s currently marked down to $17.59 at Amazon and there’s a $10 coupon you can clip (mid-page), so it’s under $8!

The clippers I use are a little heavier duty than these, but the reviews on this set are great. Plus it’s hard to go wrong at this price.

Get a jump on Valentine’s Day

To my mind, there’s exactly one way to be a Valentine’s Day hero, and that way rhymes with… hock-o-let. Ahem.

Right now the semi-annual sale is on over at Godiva, and while about half of those sale items are clearly Christmas-themed, the rest are just lovely gold boxes of chocolate or decadent hot cocoa mixes and such. I’m seeing reductions of up to half off!

Spend $75+ and you can use coupon code SNOW for free shipping. Of course, if you’re spending $75+, you’re probably buying several items, so for the record, I prefer dark chocolate. And you look very pretty today.

Did someone say 70% off?

Nine West sure knows how to reel me in. I’m all “no more shoe shopping! I have enough shoes!” But then, c’mon, up to 70% of with automatic free shipping? I’m only human.

Oooooh, pretty boots. And other stuff. And did I mention 70% off?

I’m not looking. Much.

Light it up

If you’re in need of new lighting, perhaps you’ve had that experience where you find yourself standing in the aisles of your local Big Box Hardware Store, gaping at the products, scream-whispering, “Five hundred dollars for a lamp? Because it’s a lamp, right? It doesn’t also contain a burglar alarm and Blendtec blender I just can’t see???” (Okay, maybe that’s just me….)

Ahem.

Anyway, right now you can take an extra 25% off the already-rock-bottom prices on lighting at Graveyardmall when you use coupon code lighting25more. True, you need to wade through a variety of choices, and some are more bargain-priced than others, but you could find the lightning you need for a lot less.

We redid our dining room and then it took me three years to find a new chandelier for in there. I finally got one from Graveyardmall for next to nothing and now it’s always the first thing people comment on when they enter that room. I’m a fan.

Finding a case for your new iPhone

Last month I shared that we finally upgraded our iPhones, thanks to a deal between the price at Best Buy and the buy-back on our old phones at Gazelle. What I didn’t share was that when we ran over to Best Buy to pick up our phones, I made the mistake of looking at cases there.

I started doing that high-pitched, slightly-hysterical “no, really, who is paying these prices??” laugh as I surveyed the rack. I think my husband was a little bit embarrassed. (Such is the price of being married to me.)

Eventually I found myself a nice case at Fab, which I bought with credit I had, but if you’re looking for a cheap yet sturdy case, I have two suggestions:

First, this case in black is just $4.95 shipped at Amazon if you have Prime. Other colors vary in cost, though they’re all pretty affordable. At 4.5 stars with over 600 reviews, I’d say that case will certainly do.

Second, if you want something a little fancier, right now Tanga has an iPhone 5 case boutique running with over 20 options, all priced for regular humans (unlike the $40 cases at Best Buy).

Your iPhone shouldn’t be naked. But neither should you need to sell a body part to protect it.

Feeling Lucky, jeans?

Today’s Amazon Gold Box is filled with half-off deals on Lucky jeans, and while I prefer to scoop up bargain-basement deals on denim at places like TJ Maxx, every now and then I will splurge on my favorite brand in a non-irregular way on a deal like this. (True story: Once upon a time I scored some Luckys for $10 and was ecstatic. I got them home and the first time I wore them, I realized that one leg was 1/2″ longer than the other. Uhhh… right, irregular. Got it.)

Just letting you know in case you have a similar love affair going on with Lucky.

Read PDFs on your Kindle? Yes!

Maybe I’m the last person on earth to figure this out, but I have an old-style Kindle (read: the kind the dinosaurs used to read books about eating each other) and I thought my only option for reading PDFs on it was to, you know, drag-and-drop said PDF onto my Kindle drive when I had it plugged into my computer. The good news is that it works, but the bad news is that the formatting is all kinds of wonky, and the print is tiny. Sometimes I get e-books sent to me as PDFs and I really wanted to be able to put them on my Kindle and read them without a magnifying glass.

So I did some research, and what do you know—there’s actually free Amazon software that will automagically convert your files to Kindle versions. (Did you know this? How did I not know this??) You can download Send To Kindle for the Mac or for PCs to get started. You’ll need to go into Options to selection conversion, and yeah, the final result is not as nicely formatted as an actual Kindle book, but at least you can read it.
