Bring on the election day savings

First of all—and I hope this goes without saying—if you’re eligible to vote in today’s election and haven’t yet done so, please do.

But after that, you can go shopping. (Heh.) Today only, Children’s Place is offering free shipping on every order, plus coupon code R8J2012 takes an additional 20% off your total. It’s not as great as participating in democracy, but it’s close, particularly if you have a kid who recently woke up two inches taller than he was the night before.

Process everything

‘Tis the season to start scoping out deals on kitchen electrics you’re hoping Santa may bring to your door, no? My Cuisinart food processor came to me many years ago courtesy of my mom, and I use it all the time. (I might even love it and hug it and call it George, but only when no one is looking.)

If you’re experiencing food process lust, may I suggest that you check out today’s featured deal at Rue La La? It’s the 12-cup KitchenAid Food Processor set complete with accessories and a case to put them in—everything you need to make everything from pesto to pie crust (and everything in-between). Rue La La’s price today is just $99.99, which is about as low as it gets. (For reference: Yes, the original price of $200 is correct, as this is the top-of-the-line model. It’s more than that at Amazon right now, actually.)

I wouldn’t suggest this as an impulse buy, of course, but if it’s something you’ve been wanting, it might be time to bite.

It’s the most wonderful $5 sale of the year

It’s that time again—Shop Taste of Home just started their $5 sale, and while you can certainly find any kind of cookbook you might want, they’ve also got kids’ books, Christmas ornaments, kitchenwares, and more.

Spend $25+ and you can use coupon code LS129 for free shipping, too. There’s plenty of great options here for hostess gifts, gift closet stuff for the kids to take to birthday parties, and more. The site is running a little slow, but I promise it’s worth your time to check it out.

Send Sandy relief straight to Staten Island

Kudos to alert and pretty Want Not reader Dallas for pointing out that Staten Island assemblyman Matthew Titone has actually set up an Amazon wish list for his district, meaning you can hop online and instead of just donating money, actually purchase needed items. If you have Prime, so much the better (hooray for faster).

The list isn’t particularly sexy—it’s mostly garbage bags, socks and undies, and batteries—but it’s all supplies you’ll know end up with people in desperate need, and you can provide fast, concrete help with just a couple of clicks.

[Edited to add: Here’s a second registry, this one for Brooklyn relief, if you prefer. Or if you’re just so pretty that you want to do both.]

Heads up, Discover-ers!

It’s the greatest Discover Card bonus offer ever, so far as I’m concerned—sign up for this quarter’s extra perk, 5% Cashback on up to $1500 worth of… online shopping! (And department store purchases. If anyone does that, anymore.)

It’s like they get me, man. An extra $75 back while I do the remainder of my holiday shopping? Yes, please.

Animated nerdery

If you have a child who’s currently discovering the multi-sided-dice geekery of Dungeons & Dragons (not that I would know anything about this… “Hey, I’m an elf, Mom!”), do I have the perfect stocking stuffer for you! Right now Amazon has the complete Dungeons & Dragons animated series on DVD for just $5. Five dollars! For over 11 hours of blessed silence entertainment!

That’s almost as awesome as a Spell of Invincibility. I mean, I assume.

Time for boots (and other deals)

So far as I’m concerned, the only redeeming feature of the cooler weather moving in is the excuse to pull out my cute boots. Hooray! (Why yes, I do consider the seasons pretty much in terms of which footwear it allows me. Doesn’t everyone?)

If you’re in need of a pair of cute boots, today would be a good day to go peek over at Naturalizer—they’re offering 20% off all boots, plus you can apply coupon code UWINT27A for free shipping on your order, plus another 20% off of the sale price.

Of course, they’ve got more than boots; you’ll find everything from sandals to purses, there. And, oddly enough, they even have more than just the regular Naturalizer brand—I spy Dr. Scholl’s, Ryka, Naya… plenty of options. Between the sale and coupon, my resolve is weakening….

Dove discounts for your hair

If you like Dove brand shampoo and conditioners, and you’re eligible for Amazon coupons, check out their current $2 off Dove haircare promotion to find some sweet deals on stuff you’d have to buy anyway.

As always, the coupon can be used once per account (so if you need both shampoo and conditioner, maybe team up with a friend or spouse for that second order), and applies only to items offered directly from Amazon, so make sure you don’t choose a different seller or you won’t get the discount.

I’m seeing some decent deals. It’s not as though this stuff is super-expensive, normally, but still. If you can save $2, why not?

Party like it’s $19.99

To celebrate it being November 1st (what, you don’t usually celebrate November 1st?), 6pm.com is having a “Party like it’s $19.99” event, with—you guessed it—an assortment of items priced at $19.99. Items are up to 93% up!

It’s the perfect time to snag a deal on some fancy party shoes or just a couple of sweaters. But do it today, because tomorrow these deals will be gone.

A very Joss Whedon Gold Box

Well hello there, Amazon Gold Box, how you doin’ today, crammed full of Joss Whedon programming at slashed prices?? I see the lowest price ever on the entire Firefly, Buffy, and Angel series, plus I spy Dollhouse, SerenityDr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog (that is a perfect stocking-stuffer for your favorite nerdling), even Serenity.

Is it getting warm in here, or is that just me?

As with all Gold Box deals, today’s the only day to snap up these slashed prices. Geeking out has never been quite so affordable.
