I’m watching mine right now

A couple of years ago, I finally made the leap to HDTV. I am now completely spoiled and don’t know how we ever lived without 50″ of real estate within which to best view “Storage Wars.” Heh.

I remember being so pleased with myself for snagging a Panasonic VIERA for around $700. Sure, it’s a 720p (rather than 1080p), but the reality is that as long as you’re sitting further away from the set than about 6 feet—which you should—the human eye can’t tell the difference. I love our TV more than I probably should.

I don’t know if this 50″ 720p VIERA at Amazon is the exact same model as the one we have, but it’s close if it’s not the same one. And right now? That one is just $500 delivered. That’s a crazy good deal on a TV that size, if you don’t want the very latest top-of-the-line specs, but want a good brand. (You don’t even have to watch “Storage Wars” if that’s not your thing.)

Two great deal-dealers who go great together

Here’s an unexpected treat—Groupon is dealing a deal for one of my favorite why-don’t-I-remember-to-shop-here-more-often discount stores. Go spend $15 at Groupon and you’ll get $30 to spend at Sierra Trading Post.

Someone asked me a while back for recommendations on places to buy winter outerwear pre-season at reasonable prices, and I can’t remember if I ever responded, but Sierra Trading Post would be the first place I would look. They have all sorts of last-season’s-versions of top-brand outerwear, and with an extra $15 off, you’d be crazy to miss this one.

That may—may—be better than chocolate and peanut butter. Just sayin’.

Hey, isn’t it Wednesday?

It just wouldn’t be Wednesday without Kohls, right? Right!

It’s their Anniversary Sale (I have no idea which anniversary, but why look a gift horse in the mouth?), complete with Doorbusters for today, plus everyone gets free shipping on $75+, plus you’ll earn $10 Kohls Cash for every $50 you spend, plus there’s new coupons!

(It’s totally like Christmas, only with less stress!)

Everyone can use coupon code SMS4371 for an additional 10% off your order, or Kohls charge card holders can rock the big savings with coupon code SAVEWITH30 for an extra 30% off, plus code TIME4FS will give free shipping on any size order.

Yay for Kohlsday!

Get your boots on

Oh, I know that in recent years Timberland has expanded from making just boots—heck, they have some pretty cool-looking ballet flats and heels, even—but I hear “Timberland” and I think boots. I can’t help it.

Anyway, whether you need boots or something else, guess what! It’s Friends & Family time at Timberland, which means coupon code FRIEND11S will take 40% off your entire order (some exclusions apply).

The coupon’s valid through the 19th, but depending on how many friends they really have (and how much they like boot…), stuff (particularly the items already on sale) may go quickly. Maybe just don’t tell anyone that Timberland makes more than work boots these days.

The more you spend, the more you save

If you’ve been thinking about doing a little bit of shopping at Lane Bryant, today would be an excellent day to take the plunge.

Here’s the deal: Today (September 14th, 2011) only, you can use coupon code SHOP20LB to take 20% off any order. But if you want to spend more, you can save more—coupon code SAVEONLB takes 40% off your $100+ order, and a cool 50% off your $200+ order! (The bigger coupon works through the 18th of this month.) Some exclusions apply, but it does appear to work on sale items.

Not plus-sized? Sometimes when there’s a sale like this, I browse the accessories with my gift closet in mind. Because tote bags and scarves and such are one size fits all.

Rue La your little kids

Have those of you who recently signed up for Rue La La noticed the launch of Little Rue? There’s a boatload of new kids’ boutiques open tonight, including Western Chief (the people who make the unbearably cute umbrellas and boots).

Worth checking out, particularly if you have credit to spend….

Ice cream for everyone

If you remember the ice cream maker giveaway that happened earlier this summer, you may recall that it was this bad boy that I gave out—the Cuisinart ICE-30BC 2-quart model. It’s the nicest machine I’ve ever owned, and what’s not to like about making your own ice cream? Exactly.

Amazon currently has it available for $64, which is pretty good. But! Today’s Big Steal at Meijer is that same ice cream maker, refurbished, for $50.

Might be a good way to scoop it up for less (pun totally intended) if you’ve been pining away for one.

It’s the most peanut butter time of the year

It’s that time of year—my daughter’s school (not to mention most food banks) is begging for peanut butter donations.

I like to kill two birds with one stone. That is to say: If I was just buying peanut butter for us to use here at home, I’d buy the giant containers and call it a day. Bigger = cheaper, right? Usually, but not always. When the school and the food bank needs donations, though, I’d rather buy smaller containers in bulk at Amazon.

So a quick check revealed that the price was right, and I just bought 12 jars to divvy up between my pantry and the school: I got 6 jars of Skippy Natural Honey Creamy for $11.07 shipped and 6 jars of Skippy Natural Super Chunk for $10.81. True, they’re not the huge jars, but at under $2 apiece I can live with that price, especially when I’m having them delivered to my door for free.

Once again, Subscribe & Save keeps me happy, thrifty, and somewhat lazy.

You smell delicious

So it’s not like you need anything yummy-smelling from Bath & Body Works, or anything, but they have a bunch of sales going on right now, plus coupon code F114177 saves you 20% and gives you free shipping on your $25+ order.

Maybe you just need to stock up on gifts, or something. Buy 3, get 2 Free is a powerful incentive, particularly when paired with the coupon. And who doesn’t like frou-frou body stuff? Ummm, people with allergies, I guess, but besides them…?

Anyway. Just thought you might like to know.

I bet you can find something you need

Can I just say that I have a real love/hate thing going on with Lands’ End right now? I love all of the recent coupons, but man, I hate that I keep shopping.

Today (September 13th, 2011) only, use coupon code CRISP with PIN 7944 to receive $20 off your $75+ purchase, plus free shipping.

I don’t know, maybe you’ve been better at resisting all of these coupons than I am. But I’m a sucker, every time. Overstocks, here I come….
