And now for something completely Etsy

Just in case you’ve never noticed Want Not regular Julie, she’s the writer behind Etsy Stalkers, and she is excellent at stalking, both on Etsy and off. In fact, she stalked me until I begged for mercy and promised to share this post of hers with you. (Kidding. I adore Julie, and she’s great at finding Etsy awesomeness.) Take it away, Julie!

Mmmwahh. That’s the sound of me doing some major kissing up (for under $20). The new school year has arrived. Know what that means? It’s time to kiss up to your kids’ teachers. Let’s face it, they’re not getting straight As because of their actual test scores. Heh.

Instead of just ending the year with a gift, how about starting it with one too? You know, bookend the year in gifts. But don’t worry, on etsy.com you don’t have to spend a lot to buy your way to the top.

Speaking of bookends, how’s about gifting a pair of these from Dedeetsy shop? Pretty and functional. You know, kind of like me.

Or if your teacher isn’t into reading a book with actual pages, give her a Kindle cover for from Puppy Dogs n Polka Dots.

And if your kid’s teacher happens to be a man, get him a man purse from QTPI Workshop. I’m kidding, it’s an iPod purse. For a man.

Now go forth and fetch your teacher’s love for under $20. You can thank me later. Or now. Whatever.

[Mir’s note: Thanks, Julie! Keep on stalkin’!]

For the LEGO lovers

I have a deal and a maybe-a-deal-depending for you, today.

The deal is on the LEGO Space Center, currently 30% at $39 whoops, $49 (note to self: don’t post before coffee) at Amazon. True brick devotees know that as the holidays near I am flooded with requests for “cheap LEGO” and the reality is that the bigger/more popular sets rarely go below 30% off or so. (We’ll often see smaller/older sets make it to 50% off, but not usually on bigger sets.) Anyway, if you have a kid who’s a space freak, this is a pretty darn good price for this one.

The maybe-a-deal-depending is on this year’s LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, which you’ll see Amazon has at the current MSRP of $40. So, no, it’s not marked down. However, I can pretty much guarantee you that this limited-edition set will be impossible to find closer to Christmas, and if you look in the “more buying choices” sidebar you’ll see that plenty of outlets have already jacked up the price because this set is considered extremely collectable. (It does include Yoda in a Santa suit, after all….) If this is something your kid (or you; I don’t judge) must have, I’d snap it up now.

And if you’re truly devious, buy a couple and put them on eBay in November. People become insane about this stuff and you’ll likely make some extra stocking stuffer money.

Discover all sorts of things

Been thinking about a subscription to Discover magazine? Right now Tanga has a one-year subscription for $30, but apply coupon code DISCOVER at checkout, and the price for the whole year drops to just $3.99. (Side note: A few times in the past I’ve posted these magazine deals and later in the day readers comment that the price isn’t dropping as low. I wonder if they decrease the discount over the course of the day, or maybe it’s $X off for Y people, then it goes to a different amount. I’m not sure.)

Anyway, I hopped on this one—it’s a great little magazine for anyone interested in science and tech. And at just $.40/issue, I couldn’t pass it up.

Rue La picnic

If you missed out the last time Rue La La had their Picnic at Ascot boutique, hop on over there—it’s back again today!

I bought us a cheese board. (We take our cheese seriously, ’round here….) They also have portable picnic blankets, picnic basket sets, totes, etc. These make great wedding gifts and teacher appreciation items (if you’re a big spender), too.

Mmmmmm… cheese.

Building blocks, hold the topple

Ohhhh, I’ve been in love with Tegu’s magnetic building blocks ever since we featured them on Cool Mom Picks. Beautiful wooden blocks that allow for whatever your kid’s imagination can cook up, and hold together with magnets, plus they plant trees for every set sold? Genius.

What’s a little harder for me to swallow is the $50 price tag (surprise).

But today’s a great day, because Eversave is offering a $50 Tegu voucher for just $25. (I’m seeing them as my offered Atlanta Save, so check there if it’s not showing as your local save.) Get these awesome blocks for half price, and your kids (and you; I don’t judge) can have all the same fun at a much more manageable price.

I am powerless against little duckies

Ahhhhhhh! The cuteness!! Snap up some of these Lamaze 3-piece converta infant sets to keep on hand for easy baby gifts, but try not to coo too much while you buy them. Is there anything cuter than a baby in duckies, with a matching hat and booties? (Possibly a puppy falling asleep standing up. But Amazon doesn’t sell those.)

This is a particularly neat set because the snaps allow you to use the one-piece as either a sleeper with legs or convert it to a gown. I love that, because I always used gowns at home when my babies were tiny (easier diaper changes) but would put them in something with actual legs to take them out.

At just $6.44 for this set, you’ll look like a bit spender at the next baby shower. I’ll never tell how cheap you got it. [Edited to add: Oooh, if you know it’s for a boy, they have the same deal on a dinosaur set, too.]

Reebok EasyTones 60% off

Been looking for a great deal on a pair of Reebok EasyTones? (Heck, I wouldn’t even wait for a deal if I thought they would truly make my derriere look like the woman in their commercials.) Where was I? Oh! Right.

This week’s Deal of the Week at Reebok is on the EasyTone Flash; there are five colors from which to choose, and all drop to just $40 (free shipping) in your basket with coupon code FLASH40.

These shoes feature Moving Air Technology, which is a relief, because who wants sneakers with Dead Air? Not you.

(Sorry. It’s Friday! I’m a little punchy!)

Leather and more

Of course Wilson’s Leather carries all manner of leather goods—bags, coats, accessories, etc.—but did you know they carry other stuff, too? Think wool topcoats, backpacks, luggage, and more. They even have a nice assortment of pleather purses, which will please my anti-leather, vegetarian daughter.

Today only, everything’s an additional 30% off in your cart. Even clearance. And I’ve been thinking I need a cute little trench coat for fall. I mean, sure, fall isn’t coming to Georgia for another three months, but still…. [Edited to add: Thanks, Lisa! You can also use coupon code 6690 for free shipping on your entire order!]

Postively Crocitty

It’s a good time to snag some Crocs, if that’s your thing. (Or stock up for the kids.) Right now there’s great deals to be had in the sale section.

Stack up your savings:
* Sale sandals are an extra 25% off in your cart.
* Coupon code BOGO50 takes 50% off your second sale pair.
* Coupon code FALLSHIP ships your entire order for free, regardless of size.

Again, I remind everyone that friends don’t let friends wear rubber clogs as everyday footwear if they’re over the age of ten or so, but they’re great summer shoes and some of their newer styles are actually reasonably shoe-looking. Now’s your chance to scoop up new ones on the cheap.

Friends and Family time at Aero

Right now you can take an additional 30% off your purchase at Aeropostale with coupon code FRIENDAERO, and it works on sale/clearance items, too. (Thank goodness, because I don’t know who’s paying full price there, but no one sane.)

Alternatively, shop for the kids at P.S. from Aeropostale and you can use coupon code FRIENDPS, instead, for that 30% off.

It’s for a few days only, after which—one assumes—they go back to their regular oh-honey-if-you-want-that-feel-free-to-get-a-job prices. Heh.
