Don’t forget date night

You can still afford a night out, even on a tight budget. Just hop on over to Restaurant.com, where right now you can use coupon code HOT to take 80% off your purchase. That means you can snag a $25 dining certificate for just $2 out-of-pocket! Use the $23 you saved to pay a sitter. Or whatever.

Just be sure to read the fine print on any restaurant you’re looking at; some have day-of-week or minimum purchase restrictions. In general, though, I find this is a great way to keep dining out affordable. (And if you looked last time there was a coupon and nothing tickled your fancy, check again—they add new restaurants all the time.)

Doing the happy apple dance

My family loves apples. It’s the one fruit we can all agree on, but there’s a few problems. First, the seasonal issue. Not only are apples currently something like $6/bag at my local store, they’re gross, because they’re either from last year’s crop or imported from who knows where. Second, I seem to have at least one child in braces at all times, and that means the apple has to be cut up, but a cut up apple in a lunch bag browns, and blah blah blah. (My life is hard, yo.)

Anyway. Guess what else we like. Applesauce! No browning! No seasonal issues! Easy to pack in a lunch bag! My kids (who, mind you, are not little) go totally nuts every time I buy them these GoGo SqueeZ cinnamon applesauce pouches. Why? I have no idea. They’re too lazy to use spoons? I love ’em because they’re easy, they’re all-natural, there’s no added sugar. But these puppies are a dollar apiece at my grocery store.

Buy them today from Amazon via Subscribe & Save and the price drops to $25.85 for 48 pouches. But then you can also apply coupon code GOGO4343 to save another 10%, bringing the price down to $22.81. That’s less than $.50/apiece for 48 instances of happy lunch boxes. I’m in.

(And this item will also extend your Mom Prime subscription. Bonus!)

Wipe up everything, extend your Mom Prime

If you have Amazon Mom you already know how addicting it can be to have all your stuff delivered in two days, like magic. Don’t forget that eligible purchases extend your free trial, for up to a whole year!

Like these Huggies fragrance-free wipes; they’re just $6 delivered for four packages when you buy via Subscribe & Save (15% off for S&S, then another 15% off for Amazon Mom members). So you get your wipes, cheap, plus the chance to extend your membership (your purchase must be $25 before discounts to qualify).

And every time I post wipes, some of you come and tell me yet another use for them. Besides, you know, baby bottoms. Don’t tell me about using them on those, please.

Let’s just change Wednesday to Kohlsday

I’m sure we could start a petition, or something. I mean, what else are Wednesdays good for, anyway?

You know the drill: Wednesday is the day Kohls has all sorts of specials running, including so-called “Early Bird” ones that are only valid until 3:00 p.m. Central Time (one assumes this is to prevent discrimination against people who believe any time before dinner is early). In addition to that, it’s time to redeem your Kohls Cash from the last earning period, plus Kohls charge card holder can use coupon codes FUN4MVC for free shipping and HITTHEBOOKS for an extra 30% percent off. No Kohls charge? No problem—you can use coupon code POLYKIDS for an extra 15% off, anyway, and shipping on $75+ is automatically free.

Although, honestly, if you ever shop at Kohls, get a store charge card. The extra discounts are worth it. They’re the only store card I own, and let’s just say I manage to put it to good use. Ahem.

Another free shipping week at Eddie Bauer

Just in time for that when-will-fall-get-here-so-I-can-wear-my-jeans-again itch, Eddie Bauer is offering free shipping and handling on all orders for the next several days. Just use coupon code FALLSHIP at checkout.

On top of that goodness, all jeans are currently buy 1, get the second pair half off. And their super-handy sling bag is just $15 with any purchase, too.

Eddie is kind of my secret boyfriend. Shhhh, don’t tell my husband.

Oreos for their lunchboxes

Listen, I bake my own cookies about 50% of the time, and the remaining 50% of the time when I decide to buy cookies, I buy all-natural, no HFCS, blah blah blah. But I make an exception for Oreos.

(Because Oreos are delicious, and I’m not a monster.)

Right now at Amazon you can snag this 48-count snack pack of Oreos for just $13.53 when you buy via Subscribe & Save, then use coupon code KRAFTAUG for another 5% off. It comes out to under $.30/pack, and 48 instances of happy children.
