In case the money fairy came to visit

Um, not that I was looking, or anything, but there’s a newly stocked stash of goodies in the Apple Store’s Special Deals section, specifically in the refurbs.

As in, they have some 15% off deals on refurbished MacBook Airs. (Hang on… I think I drooled on the keyboard a little….)

This stuff isn’t impulse-buy material, for sure, but if you’ve been saving up for one of these babies (or a refurb’ed iPad or Touch or whatever), now’s a good time to take a look. Or to buy me a present. Heh.

Suck it up

I always look at these Dyson deals a little bit longingly, but my Kirby stubbornly refuses to die or—what I’d really like—stop weighing a billion pounds. Hrmph.

Anyway, if you‘ve been waiting for the perfect Dyson deal, this might be it: Buy.com has a refurbished limited edition “blueprint” version of the DC25 Ball Vacuum for just $300 shipped, today. (For comparison: Amazon doesn’t have the blueprint one, but a new regular-color DC25 is currently $383, there.)

One of the Amazon reviewers declared this machine “stupendously sucktastic,” which is good for a laugh even if you don’t need a vacuum, right? Right.

Maybe it’s high fiber month at Amazon

I don’t know what is with all of the cereal deals at Amazon of late, but I am running out of room in my pantry. It’s crazy. Awesome crazy, though.

If you’re a fan of raisin bran, check it out: Get a 5-pack of Kellogg’s Raisin Bran from Amazon right now for just $6.13 shipped when you buy via Subscribe & Save! That’s, what, about $1.22/box?

Assuming you have a place to store it—and that you really love raisin bran—that’s a fantastic deal.

Getting your winter gear for next year?

Pretty reader Suzanne writes:

I just met up with some ladies last night who are new to the coupon game. One of them is sending her son north for college in the fall and is fretting the cost of buying him winter gear. I explained that now is the time to buy since it’s all being clearanced out. But it seems like most of the deals have passed already! Do you know of any place she can get a decent quality coat, etc. for her son on a budget!

Suzanne makes a great point, which is that it often seems like the stores’ seasonal cycle is so far off reality that even when you think you’re thinking ahead, you may have already missed this season’s clearance. But! I think she can help her friend find something, even still. Let’s talk about some general philosophy, first. read more…

Need another delicious gift?

I know that right after the holidays a bunch of us snagged some unbelievable gourmet food deals (I believe my children are getting some english muffins next month for Valentine’s Day, because I’m all fancy and stuff), but if you’re anything like me, somewhere in there you probably felt very smart and smug for covering several upcoming gifts… right up until all the sales were over and you realized you forgot someone. Oops!

Well, fear not! There’s still time—right now you can get free shipping on anything at Harry & David with coupon code MOMENTS. There’s still plenty of great options in their Sale section, so you can still look like a big spender without blowing your budget.

Heads up, crafty crafters

Right now Amazon has the Cricut 29-0001 Personal Electronic Cutting Machine for just under $81 shipped. That’s nearly 40% off the regular price, and the reviews are outstanding.

Of course, if you—like me—aren’t a scrapbooker, you’ll probably just look at it and wonder when fax machines started looking so futuristic. But I have it on good authority that this is a fancy little machine for people who are serious about cutting decorative shapes and… um… stuff. (Hey, I already said I’m not a scrapper.)

Save the planet (bring your own water)

I think the number one benefit of my having gotten sucked into the giant-purse thing that happened a couple of years ago is that I am now never without a (reusable) bottle of water. It’s glorious, both because I’m always well-hydrated and because it’s been a very long time since I succumbed to buying a bottle of water while out. I mean, that alone probably isn’t going to stop mankind from ruining the planet, but I like to do my small part.

Anyway. If you haven’t yet made the switch to reusable water bottles, check out this Eco Canteen two-pack at Buy.com—two stainless steel bottles complete with neoprene sleeves, carabiners, and carry straps for just $9.99 shipped.

We actually have Siggs for everyone in the family, but they’re really hard to add ice to with their narrow little openings. I may grab these to add to our collection.

Pop ’em in their lunches

Okay, listen: every time I post a deal on Popchips I get a comment or two from someone who hates them and thinks they’re terrible. Different strokes, etc. I get that. If you love real potato chips and only real potato chips so help you God, you may not enjoy these. If you want an all-natural, lower-fat crunchy snack for the kids (or yourself; I actually sneak these all the time), and you’re okay with it not tasting exactly like a potato chip (because it’s not), Popchips may be for you.

That said, here you go: Right now at Amazon, they have 24-packs of Popchips marked nearly half off. Apply coupon code JANUPOPS for another 20% off, plus buy via Subscribe & Save for an additional 15% off and free shipping. The end result is 24 lunchbox-friendly healthy snack servings, for $8.62 delivered. (About $.36/bag.)

I stock up every time they have one of these deals, and then my kids complain bitterly every time we run out. It’s the circle of life Popchips.

Watch this

Among other things, it looks like today’s Target Daily Deals are featuring about five different interchangeable-band watch sets for just $9.99 apiece. If you got in on that DealPulp deal from a few weeks ago, you probably have a $10 gift card burning a hole in your pocket, anyway. (Side note: If you didn’t get your $5 credit as a new customer on that one, contact their customer service to get it added. There was apparently a glitch and they’re granting it to folks retroactively if you ask.)

My daughter kills watches with alarming regularity, so I’m considering one of these for her as it would essentially be free. Any bets on how long it’ll take her to lose all the extra bands…?

If watches aren’t your thing, they also have a fairly impressive array of web-only dress deals, as well as cheap ballet flats. The free shipping on top of the sale prices is pretty sweet.
