Get ready to color
With coloring books for grownups all the rage, now, I never skip an opportunity to grab a few on sale when I see them. It’s become one of my favorite gifts to give to young adults for nearly any occasion, but especially as part of a college care package.
Coloring books are relatively easy to find on sale. Good coloring implements, less so. So grab a few of these, today: Amazon has this 48-count Siensync colored pencil set available for $6.99 right now—already its lowest price—plus you can apply coupon code 9ZLIN29N for another 20% off, bringing it down to just $5.59. Perfect to go with a book or two for your next gift-giving opportunity.
Reviews are excellent; also poke around in there to make yourself feel smug when you see how many people paid in the $20-$30 range for this set, when you’re about to get ’em for $5.
Time to clean up at Kohls
How much do I love a big sale and coupons at Kohls? So much. It might be my favorite thing.
Today they’ve got discounts galore, plus Kohls card holders can use coupon code LOVE30 for an additional 30% off and code FEB4FREE for free shipping on any size order. Anyone can use coupon code BABYSALE20 for an additional 20% off baby items (it stacks with a general percentage off coupon, too), or code SAVE15 for 15% off everything, and you’ll get free shipping on $75+. Everyone earns $10 Kohls Cash for every $50 spent right now, too, so you’ll be ready to shop the next sale.
One of their Doorbusters today is the Shark Navigator Swivel for $129 before coupons, which is already a nutty good deal. (For reference: Amazon has it for $220, with a 4.5 star average rating.) That vacuum for under $90 is a steal.
Go forth and save!
Planning ahead, even for baking
Every now and then, Amazon lists something as being available in a month or two, but it still lets you order it. I don’t know why they do this. I find it very odd. But hey, who am I to question a good deal?
This is preface to sharing that I just ordered this 12-pack of cherry-flavored Craisins for $9.69 even though it’s not going to ship until March or April. That’s 4.5 pounds of my favorite Craisins for baking for under $10! Here’s the thing: these are perfect for Christmas baking. And those pouches can go straight into my freezer whenever they get here, and I can pull ’em out in December.
I put them in scones, I put them in cookies, I put them directly in my mouth while I’m baking because hey, it’s fruit and fruit is good for you. (Ignore the sugar. It’s fruit!) The only thing I like better than the fact that these are so cheap is that they’re also listed as “gift-wrap available.” Just in case you love someone enough to send them six pounds of dried cranberries, gift-wrapped, so as not to spoil the surprise.
Pop up for savings
Today is the perfect day to pick up anything and everything over at Macy’s, because they’re having a Valentine’s Day Pop-Up Sale. What’s it mean? Well, discounts all over the place, an extra 25% off clearance, free shipping on $49+, and—my personal favorite—it’s also Lancome Beauty Bonus time, where $35 spent gets you a 7-piece gift.
Keep in mind, too, that any order ships for free if it includes a beauty item. I’m not suggesting you try to game that to your advantage, I’m just saying that they have lip pencils for $4.50 and that’s less than shipping. Ahem.
Bottle warming in a flash
I don’t know if this existed when my kids were babies and I just didn’t know about it or if it’s new, but if I’d needed a bottle warmer, I would’ve been delighted to discover this First Years Quick Serve Warmer available at Amazon for just $7.89. That’s about half off the regular price, and you can use it for baby food, too.
Honestly, if I’d had this when my kids were infants, I probably would’ve wrecked it at some point by trying to put my coffee in it. But I assume today’s young mothers are quite a bit smarter than I am.
In a time of madness and uncertainty…
… sometimes you need a little mindless entertainment.
Right now we’re alternating working our way through Gotham and The Office on Netflix, which probably sounds like an odd combo. It just depends on whether we want dark or comedy.
Next up? Well, I could use a little Knope in my life, and right now Amazon has the Complete Box Set of Parks and Recreation on DVD available for just $26.99 shipped. That’s 64% off, its lowest price ever, and a small price to pay for a reprieve from real life. (It’s nearly 50 hours of programming!)
I mean, it’s this or constantly wondering when a real-life Batman is going to swoop in and save us, soooo….
Time for the February Beauty Box!
Grab it while it lasts—Target’s February Beauty Box is available now for $10.
That’s $38 worth of products, shipped for free. Definitely a great value regardless, but this one contains both a peel-off masque and a clay masque, and I don’t know about you, but I love putting ridiculous things on my face almost as much as I like saving money.
‘Tis the season to stock up on kids’ clothes
It may still be gray and dreary outside, but that’s fine—spring and summer will come before you know it, and there’s plenty of last year’s warm-weather clothes in the current clearance over at Children’s Place. (There’s also tons of cold-weather clearance, which you can either buy for now because your kids pulled that tricky winter break growth spurt move, or just stock up for next year.)
Most clearance is at 75% off, and everything else is at 50% off, and today there’s free shipping, too.
I know I whine about this every time I post a Children’s Place deal, but it is a lot less fun to have children in adult sizes. I miss the days of assembling entire wardrobes for them at one of these sales for, like, $50. Enjoy it while you can!
Who needs a Chromebook?
Bear in mind that a Chromebook is not the same thing as a fully-functioned laptop. It is primarily for working online—surfing the web, using email, etc. But given that you can work on just about anything online these days (as a frequent editor, I have to say I love being able to collaborate over Google Drive rather than mailing documents back and forth), maybe a Chromebook is really all you (or your kids) need.
If so, check this out: Right now Best Buy has this 11.6″ HP Chromebook marked down to just $149 ($50 off). It has 4GB of memory of a 16GB flash drive, and it averages 4.3/5 stars with 70+ reviews. Is it fancy? No. Will it get the job done for working online without driving you insane with its slowness? Yes. (For reference: here it is at Amazon for $39 more.)
Brighten your day with some Wootitude
Feeling blue? Tired? Suffering from ennui? Take one Woot-Off and call me in the morning.
They’re Wooting Off all day today at Woot, Home.Woot, Electronics.Woot, Computers.Woot, Tools.Woot, Fashion.Woot, Sport.Woot, and Kids.Woot. (Sorry, no Shirt or Wine deal rotation today, though I do find today’s Shirt.Woot particularly relevant.)
Deals appear for 30 minutes or until they sell out (which can happen in seconds on particularly good deals), and then it’s on to the next offering. Pay $5 for shipping just once and it covers as many orders as you place for the entire day.
I do not have time to sit here monitoring this Woot-Off all day, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to try….
