Creepy, yet cute
I feel the need to start this out by noting that I personally find the entire Elf on the Shelf phenomenon a little disturbing. “Hey, kids! It’s not bad enough that there’s a fat guy at the North Pole who knows if you’ve been bad or good, but there’s also a little ceramic elf who comes alive every night and spies on you for him!” It’s just… not my thing. That said, I know plenty of families who treasure the tradition of reading the book and moving the elf around and generally sending their children into therapy.
If you want to give the gift of paranoia this special Christmas tradition, you may be interested to know that The Elf on the Shelf is currently just $17.51 at Barnes & Noble, and eligible for free shipping on $25. (For comparison: It’s currently $30 at Amazon.)
Coupon code A8U8C4R should take 15% off the highest-priced item in your cart, too, in case you want to save a little more. And whether or not we agree that the elf is creepy, I think we can all agree on saving a little more.
Smile!
Want a quick, easy, cheap way to brighten your smile?
Right now Amazon has the Crest 3D White Whitestrips 5-minute Touch Ups marked down to just $15.23. Now, they claim that’s over 60% off, but it looks like $15 is around the price it’s selling for, elsewhere. That’s not the deal. The deal is that if you scroll down a little on the product listing, you’ll see a link to your coupon book, where you’ll find a $5 off coupon.
Then they’re just about $10, which really is a great price.
Happy whitening!
[Edited to add: While I was typing this, they changed the default seller. You must buy it from Amazon—look in the “more buying choices” column—to get this deal. Add it to your cart, then visit your coupon page (scroll down to see them) and refresh until you find the coupon. This way is kind of annoying, but it still works.]
Toddler entertainment
Here’s another great one for the little kids; this would make a perfect first birthday gift (or even a shower gift if you want to look like a forward-thinking big spender).
The Playskool Step Start Walk ‘n Ride is currently available at Amazon for $13.54 (free Prime shipping or Super Saver Shipping eligible), which is about half what it usually goes for. It works as both a little ride-on and as a push-toy, and is virtually guaranteed to keep your toddler busy for at least five minutes.
Playskool should totally hire me to do their marketing. I’m a natural.
Travel in style, baby
When my firstborn came along, we bought a “travel system” that was composed of a perfectly serviceable baby “bucket” carseat and a stroller that weighed somewhere in the neighborhood of thirty pounds. I could barely wrestle that beast out of the back of the car, but at least it was really hard to push around, too. (Do I sound bitter? I may be a little bitter. This was a dozen years ago, so maybe I should let it go.)
Anyway, today’s travel systems are a heck of a lot more user- and back-friendly, not to mention just plain cheaper. Take this Graco MetroLite Travel System in Regal at Toys ‘R’ Us. Not only is it currently on sale for $140, but the price drops to $126 when you add it to your cart, and coupon code 938542 drops the price down to $120. (It ships for free, too.) Best of all, the stroller is under $20 pounds, has a 5-point harness, and gets much better ratings than the dinosaur I lugged around back in the day.
But hey, if you want a stroller that’ll give you a really good workout, this probably isn’t the deal for you.
Inspiration from the master
I am unabashedly in love with these wall decals, and may have to order all of them even though (gasp!) it’s a third-party seller and I’ll need to pay shipping. They’re cheap enough—and awesome enough—that I just don’t care.
That’s right… everyone should have giant Dr. Seuss quotes on their walls. Choose from the places you’ll go ($4) or be who you are ($4.50) or think left ($4.50). Shipping is listed from Pandora’s Treasures at $4.99 and they don’t combine shipping, so that’s a little steep… but at under $10 per decal, I still may need to order these for the kids’ rooms.
Oh, who am I kidding? I’m totally going to order these for my office.
Bedding galore
I sort of hate to keep coming back to the Target Daily Deals (can’t she find us anything else? I can hear someone saying), but they just keep being fabulous, so here we are. Like today—they’ve got two different InStyle dorm kits, containing both sheets and towels—plus savings on a couple of different bedding sets and a down comforter. It’s a beddingpalooza! It’s beddingtastic! It’s supercalibeddingisticexpialidocious!
And I’ve had a lot of coffee. In other words, business as usual. Don’t forget coupon code TOEY738U for another 10% off.
Shoes, glorious shoes
I think I’ll leave you today with a few shoe options; I figure it’s the closest thing I can offer to just taking y’all down to the beach with us. (Um, in terms of fun. Buying new shoes does not, I presume, involve whining children tracking sand all over the place.) (Come to think of it, you may have more fun buying shoes….)
Got Converse? Piperlime does, and for the next two days, use code CONVERSE20 to take 20% off, and of course enjoy free shipping and free returns.
There’s a slew of current specials at Endless right now, including 20% off when you buy two or more pairs of eligible kids’ shoes, 45% off sandals, 30% off Asics, and more. (All specials are listed on the front page.)
And last (but not least), today’s deals at 6pm.com include Naot, Dansko, and Mootsies Tootsies, just to name a few.
If you need any sand for those new shoes, you just let me know. I’ll hook you up.
Movie munchies
Headed to the movies this weekend? On Sunday, July 25th, AMC theaters are offering drinks and popcorn for just a buck apiece—just go print the coupon from their Facebook page to take advantage of the deal. (Thanks, Tafline!)
And then you can just have a coronary over the ticket prices, instead of over the snack prices.
Yes, please
Would I like a sale at Coldwater Creek? Don’t mind if I do! Big thanks to Robin for pointing out that they’ve got 26 pages of sale items, right now, some as much as 70% off. Combine that with code JULYFS for free shipping on any order, and suddenly you’ve got plenty of justification for a little something pretty for yourself.
Or—here, let me assuage your shopping guilt—check out the sale items in the Home & Gifts section. It’s always a good time to stock the gift closet, right? Right.
Back-to-school cool at Macy’s
Need clothes for the upcoming school year? Macy’s has you (and your kids) covered: right now they’re offering two deals in the kids section which offer you high-end style at affordable prices.
First, spend $50+ on kids’ clothes and use coupon code KIDS to ship your order for free. Second, go ahead and spend twice that—if you spend $100 in the kids’ section, $20 will be deducted from your order total at checkout, automatically!
This is where I would normally launch into my standard diatribe about how kids today have it too easy, when I was their age I got my back-to-school clothes at Montgomery Ward and I like it, etc. But because I’m on vacation I’ll let you just imagine it, instead. You’re welcome.
