If you’ve got “big TV” on your list…

… this may be the deal to beat, this season, and it’s not even Thanksgiving week, yet!

Best Buy currently has a Samsung 48″ LED 1080p Smart HDTV marked down to just $279.99 shipped. Which is… well, frankly, that’s nuts. It does appear to be the 2015 model—so not the latest/greatest—but for me, I’d gladly save the money when chances are excellent that whatever enhancements the new one has aren’t visible to the naked eye, anyway.

bbsamsungtvThis model averages 4.5 stars at Best Buy with over 2,000 reviews, and for comparison, Amazon reviews have it at a 4-star average, but the price there is nearly double. Do with that information what you will.

Let’s not discuss what you might be watching on TV in the coming months. Maybe just a nice Netflix binge to escape from reality? That’d be my choice, but you do you.

Do you dare to see your total?

I don’t know if you’ve seen this, but it was new to me, so allow me to share:

Apparently there’s a pretty easy way to see your lifetime total spending at Amazon. Just go to the “Your Account” section and click on “Download Order Reports,” then take the resulting .csv file into Excel or something similar and total it up.

My total was, uh, sobering. Ahem.

If the shirt fits…

I’m not saying my teenage boy only wears shirts from Woot, I’m just saying he mostly wears shirts from Woot because shirts from Woot are awesome and tend to embrace his sense of humor. And today they’re having a “November Shirtstorm,” which means instead of one shirt being on sale, they have in excess of two dozen shirts on sale.

Personally, I’m trying to decide if I need the Stranger Things one, but you do you. (Also, if you’re new to Shirt.Woot, order a size up. They run just a tad small.)

$5 ships your whole order. And everyone loves t-shirts.

Whether you’re doing holidays or basics

Just a quick FYI, if you haven’t noticed: Through the holidays (one assumes), Target is offering free shipping on every order, regardless of the amount.

That means you can hop on over there and take advantage of the current LEGO sale, and/or you can just stock up on snacks. Whatever. Plus if you spend $50+ on qualifying Home items, you can save an additional $10 with coupon code DECOR. If you are a neurotic forward-planner like me, this is a good time to start buying dorm stuff, because 1) it’s on sale and 2) no one else is shopping for it right now. (Hey, my youngest is leaving for college in 10 months. It’s not weird that I’m shopping for that. Stop looking at me.) You’ll also save an extra $10 off your $50+ food/beverage purchase automatically, or $25+ off your qualifying $100+ luggage/airbed purchase with code TRAVEL.

I’m a little bit petty, too, so sometimes when they go to free shipping like this, I do things like order a single packet of paperclips. Listen, we have to entertain ourselves as best we can.

Help us, Obi Wan Kenobi

Hi. Um, last week was a bad week. Sorry for disappearing on you. Today is Operation Find My Big Girl Panties, which is a lot less lewd than it sounds, and is basically about me getting back up and figuring out what’s next.

(Included in that, by the way, is some serious soul-searching about whether finding deals on everyday items is still a good and useful thing for me to be doing right now, or if I need to be throwing my energy into something else. I don’t have an answer, yet.)

While we all continue trying to act normal (just me? okay, cool, that’s fine), I’m trying to get geared up for Black Friday and—of course—Big Prize Week, because that’s been planned for forever and it’s almost here. So all of that is still happening, don’t worry.

This is also happening: Usually reserved for the week before Christmas, for some reason Amazon has dropped the price of the LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon to $95.99, already. This is normally $150, or around $130 on sale, so if you have a kid (or a spouse; no judgment) who’s dying to receive this 1,329-piece set, grab it now.

And then if you can figure out how to get some Jedi forces to show up in real life, I’d be down with that, too.

If you need some retail therapy

I am not really in the mood to do anything, right now, but if you’re up for some retail therapy, here you go: the Clear The Rack event is on at Nordstrom Rack, which means there an extra 25% coming off already-reduced clearance prices. Shipping is free on your $100+ order.

Oh today is just Tuesday, right?

Let us not discuss anything special that might be happening today in the world. It’s Tuesday. Just Tuesday! And that’s all I’ll say about that.

Let us shop, as a distraction. It seems like they just did one of these, but what the heck, I’m not complaining—right now Lands’ End is doing another Friends & Family sale, and you’ll see a 30% off code on the site. But for the best friends and family (that’s us, because we’re awesome), take it up to 40% off. Just a little Tuesday gift from me to you (really, them to you, but whatever). Use coupon code FRIENDS40 with PIN 3326 to save. Some exclusions do apply (it doesn’t work on Buy More & Save items, for example), but there’s still plenty of great deals to be had.

Special thanks to the lovely Kary for poking me with the code. I know things have been a little slow ’round here, lately, and I promise that I’m gearing up for Big Prize Week and a slew of holiday shopping. Thanks for your patience!

It’s almost like a metaphor, or something…

No political talk here, right? Right. There’s enough of that pretty much everywhere else.

But! What a fine time for Amazon to mark down the Complete Blu-ray/Digital HD Download Hunger Games Collection to just $24.99, because I cannot imagine why anyone wouldn’t want to bury themselves in a post-apocalyptic struggle for survival, right now. Ahem.

Four movies plus 14 hours of special features for just under $25? I’m pretty sure I paid more than that yesterday just to walk into my local theater with my kid. (But we saw Dr. Strange and it was fabulous, so I’m not complaining.) This would be a perfect gift for any fan of the series, and this is its lowest price ever. It’s one of their Daily Deals, so hop on it.

Fancier than my actual kitchen

Hi! How’s your week? Mine has been… long. We’ll leave it at that. But I’m still here! And so are you. So that’s awesome.

We’re coming down the final slope towards All Holiday Sales, All The Time, and you might think that means you need to wait a couple more weeks for the best deals, but a few surprises will pop up here and there before then. Like this: Amazon has the KidKraft Uptown Natural Kitchen available right now for $98.39 shipped (its lowest price ever), and I know every time I post a play kitchen I’m all “this one is my favorite,” but man, I really love this one. So adorable! It even has a subway tile backsplash (said the woman who wishes she could redo her kitchen…)!

Anyway, will you find anything lower before the holidays? Maybe, but not by much. If you love it and you have tiny pretend chefs in your midst, get on it.

Start Graze-ing

There are all sorts of subscription snack services out there, and I’m always a little leery of signing up, because what if it turns out that I’ve just overpaid for stuff I didn’t even like?

But I just signed up for a free box from Graze, because right now you can pay just $1 for shipping and get a 4-snack sampler box. A quarter a snack? I’m in, and it’ll help me decide if I want to keep going after that. Plus, hello, their assortment of goodies sounds crazy good—everything from a virtuous “super kale and edamame” mix to the decadent “mocha walnut cake” snack mix that includes chocolate-covered coffee beans (my personal kryptonite).

If you love it, keep going. If not, well, go ahead and cancel, and you’re only out a dollar.
