Spotlight deals on DVDs
I’m not entirely sure why Amazon has chosen to have a Spotlight Deals Event on DVDs just before Mother’s Day—perhaps they’re telling us that the greatest gift you can give Mom is some quality time with the television?—but I’m just going to go with it. When there’s savings like this to be had, I try not to ask too many questions.
Plus, I always like to pick up some DVDs for Father’s Day. Because everyone knows that tacitly promising your husband some uninterrupted viewing time really is the greatest gift you can give him. I mean, at least it’s the best gift I’m willing to discuss in polite company.
What?
Burt’s back
For those of you who were sad when you missed the last Target Daily Deal on a cute Burt’s Bees set, take heart—there’s another one available today! Granted, part of me feels like the little polka-dot pouch from last time was cuter, but today’s $10 option of peppermint body goodies is pretty nice, too, and if you’re in a teacher-gifts frame of mind, this is a great way to look twice as generous as you actually are. (It’ll be our little secret.)
Don’t forget to use this link to activate a $5 off $50+ coupon if you’re buying a bunch.
Other deals for today include a coffeemaker, crib bedding, plus-size athletic capris, and the mack daddy of all Nerf guns. So, you know, just the regular cohesive assortment we’ve come to expect from Target.
Hop on the Wii wagon
Haven’t yet succumbed to the siren song of the Nintendo Wii, yet? Sometimes procrastination pays off. Like, if you were to be shopping for a Wii console right now, you could take advantage of a bundle deal at Amazon wherein you pay $199 for the Wii, and get to pick a qualifying bonus game to go with it for free.
I paid $250 for mine and my only bonus was knowing I was a sucker. So there you go.
(Pssst! They’ve also got Wii Fit Pluses in stock for the first time in a while. Just sayin’.)
Have dessert tonight
It’s the return of $.31 Scoop Night at Baskin-Robbins, tonight, which means you have two iron-clad reasons to have dessert: It’s cheap, and it raises money for charity (the Fallen Firefighters Foundation, to be exact).
If you can say no to that, well, you’re a stronger woman than I am.
Stop me before I buy them all
I’m, uh, just shopping for end-of-year teacher gifts. That’s all. Not because I’m planning to eat all of this chocolate myself. I’m sdghgg…
… hang on, sorry. Had to wipe the drool off the keyboard.
Okay, check out these Manager’s Special prices on Ghirardelli chocolates at Amazon (all of these are 6 bags apiece):
Milk Chocolate with Peanut Butter for $8.98
Milk Chocolate with Caramel for $8.98
Dark Chocolate with Mint for $9.65
Alternatively, grab this 22-pack of 60% Cacao Dark Chocolate squares for $7.91. This is the good stuff.
But I’m just looking because I’m generous. Honest.
[Edited to add: Looks like they’re selling out fast. As consolation if you miss out, how about this: It’s an 11-pound bar of Belgian milk chocolate for $13.50. Please invite me to your fondue party, mmkay?]
Another way to put a label on it
I know how you like those label deals, you labelers, you.
Right now Office Depot has the Brother P-Touch PT90 labeler for $32, which is hardly a bargain. But if you put one in your cart and select “In-Store Pick Up” rather than shipping, the price will drop to just $9.99! (Of course, if you don’t have a local Office Depot, this isn’t going to work very well….)
Applying coupon code 12810100 will save you another 15%, making it just $8.50 plus tax. Limit of two per customer.
For reference, this labeler currently goes for $27 at Amazon, so if you have a local Office Depot, this is a great deal. (Has good reviews, too.)
And then you can spend an afternoon singing that if you like it you shoulda put a label on it. Or maybe that’s just me. Come to think of it, that may explain why my husband hid the labeler….
There’s still time to eat cheap
Just a friendly reminder—you can still use coupon code MEAL at Restaurant.com for 80% off your purchase through the end of the month. I know I posted this one a few days ago, but I figured—given that this one is valid for longer than most of their coupons—a little reminder can’t hurt.
I pink puffy heart Restaurant.com, because $25 dining certificates for just $2 means I have $23 more than usual to spend on shoes. (To wear out to the restaurant. Obviously.)
One bug I wouldn’t squish
Here’s a cute little toy for the kids that might help get an order up to $25 for free Super Saver Shipping or be nice to keep in the gift closet: It’s a solar grasshopper! The reviews are mixed, but for under $5, I think I’m probably willing to take a chance.
Besides, it’s educational. And a lot less icky than a real grasshopper, which—in my experience—might jump up into your face without warning. I much prefer this version.
X marks the spot
I’m not an Xbox person, myself, but only because I find Wii Bowling about the extent of my capabilities. (Hey, I’m in touch with my limitations, is all.) But if you an Xbox junkie, keep your eye on the Amazon Gold Box today—not only is the main deal a third off of Bioshock 2 (also available for PS3, if you need that), but the Lightning Deals will be Xbox-themed all day long.
And I know plenty of guys who’d rather get a sweet new Xbox game than a tie for Father’s Day. Just sayin’.
Hope you didn’t have plans
You don’t have anything important going on today, do you? Oh, good. That means you’ll have plenty of time to obsessively track the Woot Off that’s currently going on.
Priorities: We have them.
