More shoes for the ankle-biters

Whoa, that must be a big box….

Today’s Amazon Gold Box is filled with thousands of deeply discounted kids’ shoes. It’ll take a bit of patience to dig for what you need, but the prices are excellent if you have the time.

Maybe I have just a little time. You know, before my Prime trial runs out. Stop looking at me like that.

Happy St. Patty’s, pooch!

Hey, Fido wants some green beer, too.

Oh, wait. Scratch that. No he doesn’t. But he would like some new toys and a really big bag of treats. For just 17 hours today (March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day), go shop PETCO and not only will you save 17%, you’ll get free shipping on your $50+ order. That link should apply your coupon automagically, but if not, you want coupon code afflucky. (Some exclusions do apply, looks like. Read the fine print.)

That’s a great excuse to stock up on everything your pampered pets need, and if you sip some green beer while you do it, well, I certainly won’t tell anyone.

Finally, clothes to go with the shoes

Although we all know that 6pm.com sells more than shoes, let’s face it, it’s all about the shoes. Most of the time I forget that they sell clothes, actually.

But today—in addition to an array of fabulous shoes, natch—they also have Dockers clothing on sale. Which means that you could outfit Mr. I Don’t Need Any Clothes, These Pants With The Shredded Belt Loops Are Fine in one fell swoop; pants, button-down shirt, and some nice shoes.

If only everything in life could be this easy. (Hey, 6pm! Could you pack my kids’ lunches? I’m still kind of struggling with the time change….)

U.S. History by kids, for kids

I’m a sucker for educational entertainment, it’s true. And when we caught a couple of episodes of Liberty’s Kids on PBS and my children were riveted, I knew the producers were on to something—what a great way to get kids interested in history, without being boring or pedantic.

Since then I’ve been waiting for the DVD set to drop in price, and today it finally did. Get the entire 40-episode series of Liberty’s Kids on DVD from Amazon for $32.49 shipped (about half off), and your kids will learn all about our country’s history while watching a cartoon.

And because I know someone will ask: I’d say this is appropriate for kids maybe 6+, though my middle schooler enjoys it as well. Obviously the older they are, the more they’ll get out of it. But part of the beauty is that it’s appealing to a pretty broad age range.

Dorm room (or any room) organization

Have a kid headed off to the dorms, or a teenager who just can’t seem to keep stuff organized? How about this 8-piece closet organization kit that’ll have your closet ship-shape in nothing flat. For just under $22 shipped, you get eight hanging shelves, four mini-drawers that fit in there, hanging shoe storage, and both a pop-up hamper and a laundry bag. Perfect for those scary closets.

Sadly, motivation for your child to properly utilize said items is not included. Darn it.

Five hours of savings

It’s another chance to save big at Kohls, though this one is only good for the next five hours (from noon to 5:00 p.m., Eastern): Go on and shop, and use coupon code MAR15EDT to save 15% off everything, regardless of order size, or use code MAR20EDT for 20% off everything if your order totals $100+. Today shipping is free on orders of $100+, too, and neither of these codes require the use of a Kohls charge card, so it’s a good shopping day for those of you who don’t have one.

I actually have some socks sitting here from my last Kohls order that I need to take back to the store. Raise your hand if you agree that the way they size socks is just confusing and annoying. My son was not delighted when I accidentally bought him toddler socks. Oops.

Who’s a chewy puppy? You are!

(Uh, not you. Maybe your dog. But if you want to chew on one of these, g’head. I don’t judge.)

Dog toys are expensive. And my dog lives to destroy toys. So of course now I regularly cruise Amazon for cheap doggie toys, because I’m a sucker I love my pooch.

Right now Amazon has this KONG large puppy teething stick for $3.50, and it ships for free with Prime. Our experience is that the KONG toys tend to be very durable, but at that price, it hardly matters.

Of course, my dog is only 12 pounds, so that toy is roughly the size of her head. Which might be kind of entertaining.

Two days, two ways to save

Today and tomorrow (March 16-17, 2010), Old Navy and Banana Republic stores are offering additional savings on your purchase. Just because.

To save 25% at Banana Republic on regular-price merchandise, use coupon code BRSAVE25.

And to take 20% off anything at all at Old Navy (much more my speed, both in terms of regular prices and that the coupon is unrestricted!), use coupon code ONGET20. I’m already combing through the clearance for goodies. $5 tops for next Winter? Yes, please!

Strollerama

I have a friend who had a baby last year, and prior to her shower I spent hours—literally hours—trying to find a good deal on a stroller for her. Apparently she didn’t have the foresight to spawn during the off season (take note: baby stuff is expensive in the Spring), and I never did find that stroller deal I’d been wanting.

But if you’re looking for a great stroller deal, today’s your day: The Target Daily Deals are featuring the Graco Ipo Big Top Stroller for just $40 shipped (down to just $36 with coupon code URTYJLI8. The reviews on the Target site are quite good, or refer to Amazon for 80 more review (4 out of 5 stars) and the comparison price ($90).

This is a fancy umbrella stroller without the fancy price, and it holds up to 50 pounds, so it’ll last well until the “me do it myself” years. Happy trails!

Old wonder, new technology

I remember when the Rubik’s Cube first came out, and we thought it was the coolest thing since… well… just about ever. I thought that fad had come and gone, but then this holiday season it was all about the Rubik’s TouchCube, which was all the fun of the original with a giant price tag.

Erm, I mean, all the fun of the original without any concern about someone peeling off all the stickers. Also, it’s pretty slick looking. But, you know, expensive.

However, right now Best Buy has the Rubik’s TouchCube for just $19.99, and the lowest I’ve seen it elsewhere is for about $50 at Amazon. (Though I like how that price is from a vendor, and the actual Amazon price is over $100. Wow.)

Shipping is $5.49, or pick it up at your local store for free. Now you can be all high-tech without the high-tech price tag!
