Rock the Roku

Been thinking about getting a Roku? I have to confess, before we got ours I wasn’t sure we’d use it much. But now I am a total Roku addict. Not only does it allow for instant Netflix access, there are all sorts of channels you can access to watch all different kinds of content, not to mention that you can grab those Amazon movies on demand and such right from the box.

If you’ve been on the fence, try this offer on for size: Right now Roku is offering $20 off and free shipping on the purchase of any box when you also sign up for a free trial of Netflix. You have to be a new Netflix customer to qualify, but hello, this is a great deal if you’re not already signed up.

It suddenly occurs to me that my house would probably be a lot cleaner if I didn’t have a Roku, but that’s neither here nor there. Right? Right. Pass the remote.

Bargain suckage

If you either cannot afford or for some reason haven’t become assimilated to want a Dyson, today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal may be more your speed: It’s a Hoover Elite Rewind Bagless Upright vacuum for $90 shipped.

It’s probably not the greatest vacuum ever, but for $90, it’s pretty good. I mean, I’m guessing it’s at least $110 or $120 worth of good. Heh.

You’re not the only one Spring cleaning

Hey, I had no idea that things like address labels were seasonal (shows you what I know, or don’t), but apparently it’s Spring Clearance time at Vistaprint, which means it’s a great time to order those custom printed items for dirt cheap. 90% off is hard to beat, people.

Me, I may order some “Kiss me, I cleaned my closet!” cards. You know, to combine the goodness of Spring cleaning and St. Patrick’s Day. No…?

It’s a double deal

Been thinking about buying a Flip, but haven’t found the right deal yet? Today may be your day: Amazon is offering the Flip MinoHD 60-minute camcorder for just $113 shipped, which is a good $20ish cheaper than I’ve seen it anywhere else. But if you’ve been thinking about joining the AudibleListener Gold program, you could actually get it for just $13 ($100 off).

Details are on the product page if you want to do the Audible deal. If you just want the discounted Flip price, though, you can just do that. Either way, it’s a heck of a deal on an HD camcorder that’s smaller than a deck of cards. Awesome.

(I like to keep mine in my purse. You never know when it’ll be handy to whip it out and capture some prime blackmail material for later, like to have on hand when the kid is getting ready for the first prom or something….)

Get your shoes at. . . Target?

Yes, it’s time to stock up on shoes through the Target Daily Deals! Although that’s really only the starting place; yes, they have four pairs of deeply-discounted shoes in the deals, today. But this week all shoes are buy one pair, get the second half off. (Apparently Target turned into Payless while we weren’t looking.)

Buy those two pairs through the Daily Deals and they’ll ship for free. Buying more? Orders of $50+ also ship for free. And don’t forget coupon code URTYJLI8 for an extra 10% off!

I’m not a huge fan of Target shoes, myself, but they’ll certainly do for the kids. Time to stock up for my little Bigfoots….

Saturday deals

Goooood morning! Yesterday we conquered both Trader Joe’s and Ikea, and lo, it was a frugal girl’s dream come true. Minus the part where I actually had to, you know, pay at the end. Details.

Let’s see what’s happening in the world of online deals today….

Amazon is running a clothing special this weekend—get $10 off $50 in kids’ clothes or $20 off $100 in men/women’s clothing, provided you buy direct from Amazon.

Two other somewhat random Amazon deals: First, if you need a coffeemaker, I have a Cuisinart and I really like it. It’s not this DCC-1200 12-cup model that’s currently $50 at Amazon, but with the available $10 rebate that’s a fabulous deal on a good brand. And second, if you’ve been awaiting a price drop on the Wii MotionPlus, they’re currently down to $16.54 and free shipping eligible.

Over at 6pm.com, there’s tons of weekend deals, including slashed prices on Converse sneakers because I just combed the ends of the earth to find a deal on Converse sneakers for a certain child who “had to” have a pair. Of course. No need to thank me!

Running low on those Restaurant.com certificates that allow you to enjoy fine dining at fast food prices? Don’t sweat it! This weekend you can purchase some more for 80% off—just use coupon code BITE to bring the price of a $25 certificate down to just $2. (As always, many restaurants have day-of-the-week or minimum purchase restrictions, so read before you buy. If you can work with their rules, it’s still a great deal.)

Shopping Kohls this weekend? You might want to—everyone (not just card holders) can use coupon code JUST4U to take 20% off your entire order! Shipping is free on $75+, automatically.

Later on today I’ll have contest winners and another chance to win, because you’re pretty and I like you. Yes, you.

Friday, time flies

Did you know that it’s time to change the clocks this weekend? I mean, already? That can’t possibly be right. Except that it is. I foresee a lot of coffee in my future, to make up for that lost hour.

Regardless, time marches on. And Friday marches on, and despite its recent ever-shrinking-ness, I cling to starting my Friday with the Amazon Friday Sale, because I am still pining for the old days.

… but, wow, it’s just like Amazon is taunting me. Here, I found you one thing worth looking at: Today’s Gold Box Deal is a huge discount on Trio bars, one of my favorite snacks (gluten free! dairy free! high in protein!). The cases of 24 are working out to about $12 shipped if you buy via Subscribe & Save, so it’s a good time to restock if you’re out. This, however, is not technically part of the Friday Sale, which—having previously jumped the shark—I think has finally, emphatically, bitten the dust.

Moving on to other Friday goodies…. How about some shoes? That always cheers us up! Okay, there’s plenty of designer deals this weekend at 6pm.com, plus March Madness has arrived at Shoes.com—use coupon code 25SALE for an additional 25% off shoes and handbags already on sale, or code SPRING15 for 15% off regular-price items.

The excruciatingly adorable vintage airplanes crib bedding is back in the Target Daily Deals again today, as well as a few other goodies. Don’t forget coupon code URTYJLI8 for an extra 10% off, too.

Over at Graveyard Mall, they’ve got iPod and iPhone cases in the spotlight today, and if you order two or more, they’ll ship ’em for free. (Hint: A second case is cheaper than shipping. You’re welcome.)

And finally, if you’ve been waiting for a great Nuvi deal, this might be it: Buy.com has a refurbished Garmin Nuvi 1350 available today for $125 shipped (for reference: it’s around $175 at at Amazon with good reviews). I especially like how it says it offers “lane assistance.” I’m pretty sure they just mean you can get traffic/construction updates, but lane assistance makes it sound like it comes with a tiny leprechaun caddy, or something. Freaky.

And now, we are off on a mission to Trader Joe’s. I cannot tell you how this warms the cockles of my frugal yet good-food-lovin’ heart.

Well, since you mentioned Disney

The earlier fruit snack deal brought up Disney, so let’s pretend that was my plan all along, a smooth segue into this:

Through the weekend, you can shop the Disney Outlet—where new markdowns have just been taken—and take 20% off your entire order with coupon code OUTLET20. If you’re racking up more than $89 worth of stuff, also use code SHIPTODAY to ship it all for just $5.

If you’re doing a Disney trip, this is the way to keep costs reasonable; you stock up on Disneyphenalia (totally a word) before you go, at a discount, and then dole out the goodies at the park, without the park prices. Sweet.

They’re still growing

Okay, you can just insert your own putting-bricks-on-the-kids’-heads joke here, and we can all commiserate about our quickly-growing children for a minute. Okay? Everyone good? Excellent! Moving on to the deal…

… they’ve just taken new markdowns on Spring merchandise (read: are you ready for Easter?) at Children’s Place, and coupon code FAMILYA9 will give you an additional 15% off through March 16th, 2010.

Just in case you have a kid or two who got up this morning two inches taller than they were last night. Not that that’s every happened ’round here, or anything.

All-natural, all-yummy

Regular readers know that I’m trying very hard to buy good food for my family without having to pay top dollar all the time. I mean, I like Whole Paycheck Foods as much as the next person, but I can’t really afford to shop there the way that I’d like to.

Which is why I often get the all-natural snacks my kids love when they’re on special at Amazon. It’s cheaper, and I don’t have to leave the house. Score on both counts! The last time these Brother’s All Natural snacks were on sale I grabbed a case, and my children ate up those little dehydrated banana and strawberry slices like they were chocolate-coated balls of pure high-fructose corn syrup (read: they liked ’em). And I really liked having a healthy, portable fruit option to put in their lunches even in the dead of winter when all of the fruit at the store looks pitiful.

Here’s the deal: Browse the eligible snacks (which are already on sale), use coupon code BROTHERS to save 10%, then buy via Subscribe & Save to save another 15% on top of that and get free shipping. The fruit snacks come out to around $.70 bag this way (and each bag has the equivalent of two servings of fruit). No additives, no extra sugar, nothing but actual good food. What a concept.
