I’m always up for Family Fun
I never have time to read magazines, not really. But I continue my subscription to Family Fun because, well, it has great ideas and the kids love it. But I refuse to pay very much for it, of course.
So when I noticed that it was available as the Barnes & Noble Deal of the Day for $5, I went to check the price at Amazon, and it turns out it’s currently an additional $5 off there at checkout, making it just $4.95 there, as well. You can just pick which store you like better.
Now, if you’re a BN member it comes down to $4.50, so I guess it’s a little cheaper there, potentially. Either way, it’s a cheap and easy way to keep your subscription going or pick up an easy gift for a friend.
6pm just got a lot more dangerous
As if the lure of pretty, pretty cheap shoes wasn’t enough, or their 36 days of joy (one special promo debuting every day at 9:00 a.m. Eastern) wasn’t enough, guess what 6pm.com‘s gone and done now?
Through the end of the year, orders of $100+ ship for free. No coupon needed, no foolin’. Nice.
(Of course, thus begins the slippery slope—do you know how hard it is to get up to $100 there when the prices are so cheap? It means you’ll need many more pairs of pretty shoes….
Deck the halls with video games
Through December 18th, Amazon is doing 18 Days, 18 Deals in Video Games, and although it’s only supposed to be one deal each day, today they have eight different Wii and DS options from which to choose.
And that’s aside from the fact that the Gold Box Deal today is Active Life: Extreme Challenge for $35 shipped.
I used to be all anti video games, you know. And then we got a Wii. And now I sort of love them. (I especially love the bribery power it holds. Ha!)
I’ll join that family
It’s Friends & Family time again over at Macy’s, and that means you can shop online and use code MACYSFRIEND through December 7th, 2009 to save 25% on your purchase. Shipping is free on $99+.
Would you rather hit the actual store? I don’t go into retail establishments between Thanksgiving and Christmas unless I see someone on fire who needs extinguishing, but suit yourself—just print out this here coupon and go have a good time.
If you do go to the store, pet the cashmere for me. (What? Like you don’t do that at Macy’s….)
Go ahead and get a new bag
It’s that special time of year… it’s that time when eBags.com has one of their big sales! I posted this wrong earlier, by the way—I thought you could combine the two promotions, but they’re separate. So, choose from either 20% off through this link, or orders of $25+ ship for free through that there link.
But wait… there’s even more! Place an order this week and you’ll get a $25 code via email to use on your next $75+ purchase. Just a little added bonus.
It’s the perfect time to pick up a new purse, or to get your ungrateful kid a suitcase and invite them to move out.
Oh. Did I say that last part out loud? Um. My bad.
A gift of geekery
If you or someone you love is itching to get their SciFi on at a great price, check out this Farscape complete series DVD set for $58 shipped. It’s 25 DVDs, and nearly 70 hours of delicious nerdery.
Go ahead and scoff, but someone is going to squeal like a little girl upon opening these on Christmas morning, I just know it.
It’s official: Amazon is killing me
My name is Mir, and I am an Amazon addict.
Really, when they started the Black Friday deals almost a week early, I thought: That’s okay. I can do this for a week. No problem! But then I noticed that they’re still doing multiple Lightning Deals all day long in what they’re now calling their Hot Holiday Deals section, which means I’m never going to get anything done.
Psssst—looking for a Swiss Army knife? There’s one in the holiday lightning deals (knife plus a collector’s book), and due to a small glitch, it’s actually an extra $10 off (just $18.50 at checkout instead of $57). I’m just pointing it out.
Keep your Wii going
Did you pick up a new Wii, or are you lamenting the rate at which your current one seems to eat batteries?
Today Buy.com is offering the Wii AirCharge Inductive Charger for $18.29 shipped. It includes two rechargeable batteries and works on its own power cord (we finally gave up on our USB powered charger, because we kept turning the Wii off and having no charge), and works through the silicone sleeves, even with Wii MotionPlus!
I don’t know if this would fit in a stocking, but it’s worth a shot.
Have you done your holiday cards?
I ordered our Christmas cards last night. I’m kind of on a 2-year cycle; I do cards one year, and then the next year I forget (whoops), and the following year I realize I missed the last year and better get cracking again. It seems to be working out okay.
There are lots of places to get great holiday cards, but I have to say that by far the cheapest option I’ve found (that still gives a decent-quality card) is Vistaprint. I’ve used them several times and always been happy, and the cards I ordered last night are printed on both sides and even with upgraded shipping, I was still looking at only about $.50/card for what I chose (and that included envelopes and return labels, too). That’s pretty hard to beat.
Supposedly they had a Cyber Monday special that’s over now, but I’m not sure… looks like the cut-rate prices are still in effect.
They take Paypal, too. I pink puffy heart Paypal.
It’s sort of like Cyber Tuesday
This is sort of funny, because someone was just complaining in the comments about how long their shipping sometimes takes (sorry!), but it’s worth noting that while most other retailers did their specials Friday and yesterday, Eddie Bauer will not be put into such a small box; today only (December 1st, 2009) they’re offering free shipping on all orders with coupon code PRANCER. (Note: I believe they still charge a $3 handling charge on all orders.)
They’re having a giant sweater sale, too, which is very timely. We had frost this morning, and I’m very confused. This is Georgia. I am not supposed to need a sweater! But once there’s frost, I need sweaters. Obviously.
