You can never get enough Narnia

My kids have read our box set of The Chronicles of Narnia to tatters, and that’s because I’m raising up the next generation of nerdlings, as it should be. But for other nerdlings and even those who are somewhat more reluctant readers, do I have deal for you—Barnes and Noble is currently offering the Chronicles of Narnia book and CD set for just $19.98, and it’s part of their 3-for-2 promotion.

That means you could buy three sets—each a $100 value—for under $40 delivered. It’s the entire series, books and audio CDs. This is a tremendous deal on a timeless series!

(Take that, Narnia movies. The books are still better.)

Listen to Marley

No, not that Marley… Audible is offering a free download of Marley and Me (abridged version), courtesy of Garmin. You could listen to it on your Nuvi, but you could also listen to it on any MP3 player you happen to own.

Apparently this was a New York Times Bestseller. Might be worth a listen, particularly if (like me) you are too cheap to go see the movie.

Sneaky, just like Indy

If you’ve been waiting for a price drop on Lego Indiana Jones for the Wii, you’re in luck—it’s down to just $19.99 at Amazon.

But Mir, you say, I clicked through that link and it’s $50-something. Yes, well, look over in the “More Buying Choices” column over on the right. It’s $19.99 direct from Amazon, and I have no idea why the page is defaulting to the more expensive Beach Audio option. Perhaps because Amazon likes to keep us hopping. Who knows.

Handy guide for your Trekkie stud

I have to say, I think that this guide to romance is kind of horrifying.

But in a really hilarious way.

And for $5 shipped, really, it’s just the sort of thing to have it in your gift closet for that time when nothing other than Captain Kirk’s Guide to Women will do. Oh, come on. You know there are times like that.

(It would be wrong to have my kids give this to my ex for Father’s Day, right?)

Saturday deals

Goooood morning! I’ve got some great deals here for you to start off your weekend, assuming you spend your weekend doing something other than hovering over your garden, searching for aphids. (Ummmm… not that I’m doing that. Stop looking at me.)

Today’s Deal of the Day at Graveyard Mall is a 4-pack of hand-crank flashlights for $7.99 (plus shipping). My kids love these, and I love having flashlights that don’t have dead batteries, for a change.

Go grab up the deals at Sierra Trading Post this weekend. I’m not sure if these can be combined, but there are two great promos going on—first, if you buy any “rock bottom clearance” item, you get free shipping on your entire order; second, if you spend $100+, you can use coupon code ALAPRIL9 for 15% off your order. (Someone let me know if those work together, if you try it.)

It’s the one-day Spring Sale at Shoebuy.com—today (April 4th, 2009) only, use coupon code SPRING20 for 20% off your order (shipping and returns are always free). Do note that some brands may be excluded from this promotion.

Were you disappointed when you didn’t win the My First Organics contest? Don’t fret! The folks at My First Organics turn out to be as nice as their product is awesome—go pick out your own kit and save 15% on your purchase with coupon code WANTNOT. It’s educational, it’s fun, it’s organic, and it’s delicious. (And did I mention the awesome part? Our exclusive coupon code is good through the end of 2009!)

Shopping at Overstock this weekend? Let’s see… kids’ clothing and bedding is all 10% off, and then (you know, if your kids are naughty) you can also save 10% on cutlery and cutting boards. (It’s an interesting combination, but I try not to judge.)

There’s a big Saturday Sale going on at Kohls, and shipping is free on $75. Don’t forget your coupons! NEW4600 gives 10% off to everyone, and Kohls card holders can use GRAND15 for 15% off and MVC1975 for free shipping. (A little birdie told me that Kohls card codes can also be used with gift certificates. Which means that if you don’t hold a Kohls card, you could buy a gift certificate, first, and pay for your order with that, using the codes. Just sayin’.)

It’s been almost forever since we had a code for The Children’s Place, but they’re starting to put their spring stuff on sale, and coupon code NEXTJ78 will save you 10%. (Not much, I know, but it’s something.)

As I type this, the current Lightning Deal at Amazon is a really nice Cuisinart cookware set for 72% off. Kind of makes me wish I needed one.

Enjoy your Saturday, people, and remember—friends don’t let friend pay full retail!

The sun’ll come out, on Friday

It’s been raining here all week. But today it’s supposed to be sunny. Have I mentioned lately that I love Fridays?

And look—here comes the Amazon Friday Sale!

This Nine West sandal comes in limited size/color combos, but may I just say that the red snakeskin ones rock my world? (They don’t have them in my size. But if they did… well, I would find someplace to wear them.)

I love the idea of a portable jump-starter. But then I realize that I’d probably forget to charge it, and my interest sort of wanes. (Nice price on that for someone a little more together than me, though.)

Mother’s Day is coming up! How better to delight mom (or grandmom) than with breakfast in bed served upon a personalized tray? Put photos of the kids in there and you’re good to go.

I’m loving this bench, and thanks to the magic of Friday Sale technology, today the 3-seater version is actually cheaper than the 2-seater.

I can’t be absolutely certain, but I’m pretty sure this is an Easy-Bake Oven for grown-ups. Which: weird. But also sort of cool.

Did you miss your chance to stock up on Magic Erasers, last time? Buy ’em via Subscribe & Save and you’ll get 24 for $16.74 shipped!

Got wipes? Baby wipes, that is. Choose from a deal on Huggies wipes with shea butter (which show up as “Huggies-Butter-Wipes” on the title bar, much to my endless amusement; wipe that baby down with butter!) or go the all-natural route with the Eco Wipes on sale. (The Eco Wipes can be ordered via Subscribe & Save for extra savings, too—700 wipes for $18.69 delivered. That’s less than 3 cents per wipe.)

I am positively entranced by these Fit & Fresh Lunch Chillers. I’m thinking they’d be a cheap(er) option for when I do bento lunches for the kids.

Don’t forget to check out the Amazon Friday Five, five MP3 albums available for download for just $5 each. And you sort of have to love Amazon for putting KT Tunstall and Prince on either side of the original cast recording of The Lion King. Heh.

Also, be sure to check the Gold Box Deals if you’ve got a little train-addict on your hands—today you can pick up a 5-disc Thomas and Friends DVD set for just $27.99 shipped! It looks to me like those are individually packaged, too, so what’s to stop you from picking it up for the gift closet, and giving them out individually…? I won’t tell.

Have a great Friday, everyone!

“You can’t say no to books!”

That’s what my kids say, when it comes to buying more books. Oh, sure, I talk about shoes all the time, but books are really our weakness. It’s hard to argue for shoes being educational, after all. Sigh.

Through April 13th, the Spring Clearance is on at The Scholastic Store, with savings of up to 75% off. And to make it even sweeter, you can use coupon code AFFSPR for free shipping.

This is how I tend to stock up on birthday party presents. Sometimes the birthday kids aren’t entirely thrilled, but their parents sure are.

Get ready to swim

I’m back, and I arrived home to an email from Lands’ End—apparently today (April 2nd, 2009) only, men’s and women’s swimsuits are 25% off.

And, you know, it’s raining out (again!), so it’s probably a good day to think about swimming.

Make it even better; use coupon code SHOWERS and PIN 2070 to ship your order for free.

(Contest winners coming right up, I swear. I haven’t even taken my coat off, yet.)

A deal on my way out the door

My apologies, but I have to run out this morning for a while, and so our contest winner (and more deals) are going to be delayed just a bit. I’ll be back! In a little while!

In the meantime, I see that today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal is ten seasons of ER for $163.49. I suppose that’s a great price, but who has time to watch ten entire seasons of ER?? Hey, if you do, more power to you. Also, could you come over and clean my house and babysit? Thanks! You’re swell.

I love it when a sale gets better

Still need shoes? (I always answer that question with a resounding “yes!” of course.) The buy one pair, get the second half off sale at Famous Footwear is still going on, plus now you can use coupon code 0409799 to take an additional 20% off your order.

Free shipping, too! Those of you who didn’t luck out at yesterday’s sale may be able to find something with this one.
