More ways to win
You know me, so you know I’ve got a contest lined up for later today. But what’s better than a contest? More contests, of course! Which is why I thought I’d give you a little nudge and say, “Pssssst! Did you happen to notice that I’m writing the Daily Deal feature over at Work It, Mom!?
You might want to take a look over there, this week. We may be giving away prizes. Oh, wait. We’re definitely giving away prizes—all week long.
Feel free to come on over and check it out.
Saturday deals
Gooooood Saturday morning to you! I’m awake (reluctantly) after a lovely night’s sleep. I hope the same for you. (Well, minus the reluctant part.) I feel a little stupid posting shopping deals while Hurricane Ike is crossing Texas, but given that I can’t do anything about Ike but I probably can save you some money, this is all I’ve got, today. (And my thoughts are with those of you in Ike’s path.)
This weekend you can take $15 off $300+ or take $20 off $350+ at Overstock through those links, but they’re also running a great Paypal deal right now—pay via Paypal and save 10%, automatically.
Need a quick gift? Save $15 on your $89+ order at David’s Cookies, plus get free shipping, with code LSHWN1589A through October 31st, 2008. Is it cheaper to make your own cookies? Absolutely. But is it handy to be able to send someone gigantic, delicious cookies this way? Yep.
Jos A. Bank is offering free shipping on every order with no minimum to buy, this weekend, just in case the man in your life is needing some fancy duds. (There’s a sale on, too.)
Spend $150+ in bed or bath at Macy’s this weekend, get free shipping. And hey, it’s Macy’s, so that’s like, I don’t know, a shower curtain and a fingertip towel! (Kidding. They have some good bargains if you wait patiently and then dig through to find ’em.)
You have to be a fan of Family Guy to appreciate this one, obviously, but it made me laugh and laugh: Pre-order the Complete Collection; it comes in a Stewie head! (C’mon, that’s funny.)
The big Fall Sale is on at The Children’s Place! Use code NEXTJ78 for 10% off, too.
That should keep you busy for a while, right? I’ll be back with a contest later today.
My Friday, tis of thee. . .
Oh, okay. I won’t sing.
But I will get my Amazon Friday Sale on, because that’s what Fridays are for.
We’re a long way from boot weather, here in Georgia, but perhaps your own impending cold weather plus the lure of boots in a plethora of colors and the possibility of up to 55% off will lure you in?
If loving these sandals is wrong, I don’t want to be right.
It’s not the top-of-the-line, but if you’ve been trying to find a GPS unit for under $100, you might want to check out this Nextar W3-01.
I had no idea it mattered or that you could specifically buy sleeping bags with zippers on a certain side, but if you’re wanting an olive green left-zip sleeping bag for cold-weather camping, check this one out, because it’s under $20. (But only in olive! With the left-hand zipper!) For slightly more—and no hard thinking about colors or zipper sides—you could get this mummy bag instead, I suppose.
I own this cooler and I love it, though I had to lug mine home from Target instead of getting free shipping, plus I did not receive a bonus jug. I feel strangely cheated.
Remember the cookware sets from last week? They’re baa-aaack! Choose KitchenAid ($129.99), Calphalon ($139.99), or Cuisinart ($149.99). They’re all great deals if you need a complete set.
Okay, I know it’s not as pretty as your great-grandmother’s gravy boat, but the thermal gravy server is a marvel. Hand to God. Piping hot gravy. I’m drooling a little, just thinking about it.
Want to bake bread in three different sizes, automatically? This Panasonic bread maker is top-of-the-line, with fabulous reviews. Perfect for a large family, or a smaller family that sometimes likes to bake more for company!
Here’s a fun little gift for your favorite tree-hugger: a clock that runs on water.
There’s a ton of kids’ watches in the sale today (and also some scary, blinged-out men’s watches…), but I think my favorite is this Bionicles one. That’d make a nice stocking stuffer for the Lego-nut in your life.
Don’t forget to check out the Friday Five, too—five album downloads just $5 each!
Have a great Friday, everyone. Heck, have a second cup of coffee. I won’t tell anyone.
Use the air to share
Have an iPod Touch or an iPhone? You may be interested in Avatron’s Air Sharing application, which will allow you to move files between your device and your computer using wifi.
For the first two weeks, this app is available for free. I’d suggest grabbing it now, and figuring out whether or not you really want it later. (It’s available through iTunes; I just linked the description in case you want to read about it.)
Mmmm… gadgety!
Let’s try again — ready, set, Wii Fit
This didn’t work out so well the last time I did it, but let’s see how many we can snag, this time!
Amazon claims that at 10:30 Pacific (1:30 Eastern) Wii Fits are going to be available. That’s about five minutes from now, so you have time to go turn on your one-click ordering.
You need to sit there and refresh and pray if you hope to get one. Just sayin’.
[Edited to add: Okay, I am starting to think this is just a very elaborate joke of Amazon’s. The item shows up, but cannot be added to my basket, and after I retry a hundred times it disappears again. Anyone get one?]
Chop chop!
Sorry for my absence this morning… I’ve been over at the kids’ school, counting money. I am certain you are completely shocked to learn that I’m the treasurer of the PTA, no?
Heh. Anyway! I just noticed that there’s still time to snap up the early morning Amazon Lightning Deal in Kitchen & Dining, which happens to be a KitchenAid food processor for $159.99. (Keep in mind that to get the Lightning Deal price you need to add it to your cart from that page; if you click through to the item description, you’ll see the regular price.)
I love my food processor. So I won’t be buying this one. But if you need one…? Great deal.
It’s nearly jacket weather
(Well, not for me. I live in Georgia, where we’ll start thinking about closing the pool around Halloween. But perhaps you don’t live here on the surface of the sun like I do.)
Need a lightweight jacket to head into Fall? The LL Bean Thurdsday Morning Markdown is a ladies’ warm-up jacket for $22 (down from $69). Use coupon code 3004365 to ship your order for free, too.
I might need one of these, actually. In December.
Fancy pencils, anyone?
Me, I prefer the pencils that come 20 to a box, because that way, when my kids lose all 20 of them I can just smile and comment that they’d lose their heads if they weren’t attached. But you, you seem fancier. Less plagued by children, even. Maybe you’d like a 4-pack of fancy mechanical pencils for under $10 shipped.
Maybe you use them for diagramming. Maybe you’ll use ’em for stocking stuffers. Maybe you’ll send them to your favorite college student along with a passive-aggressive note suggesting they call home once in a while. I don’t know. I don’t need to know.
Live and let buy pencils, that’s my motto. (Well, not really. But this early in the morning, anything could be my motto.)
Did somebody say coupons?
Hey, did you know that Drugstore.com offers all sorts of instant coupons? Well, they do!
Free shipping on your first non-prescription order of $25+, too.
(Hey, this post has a lot of words ending in “ooo.” Um. In conclusion… moo!)
Another sale at Kohls — try to contain your shock
I was sitting there waiting for my kids to finish up swim team practice, and two college girls were sitting behind me, lamenting their wardrobes. “I wonder if they’re having a sale at Kohls?” mused one of them.
I couldn’t help it. “Oh, honey,” I called over to her. “They are always having a sale at Kohls!” (How did she get to college without knowing that? I want to have a chat with her mama.)
Anyway, yes, check out the latest sales at Kohls, particularly because they’re offering free shipping on orders of $75+, automatically. If you don’t have a Kohls card, use code NEW4107 for an additional 10% off, and if you do have a card, combine PICK15EXTRA for 15% off with MVC6361 for free shipping on any order.
And yes, Virginia, there is a sale going on. Obviously.
