Insert your own PMS joke here

Ladies, let’s not beat around the bush. Sometimes we need a little assistance getting through a certain time of the month. There’s no shame in that; heck, everyone knows that we get the cramps because men wouldn’t be able to deal with them. (To my male readers: Kidding! Totally kidding! You’re very manly. And handsome. Please don’t go!)

Certain products designed to be the most help during these difficult times tend to be very expensive, because we’re captive consumers and retailers know that when you need a painkiller right then, chances are you’re not going to stop and compare labels. But! The good news is that we can plan ahead!

So, if you’re a fan of Midol, make today your luck day. Amazon currently has Midol Maximum Strength Complete (3 boxes, 120 tablets) for $6.31 and Midol Cramps and Body Aches (4 boxes, 96 tablets) for $4.85. Stock up now, feel better later.

I feel compelled to insert a “it could save the life of someone annoying who you truly love” joke here, but I’ll refrain. Sort of. Oops!

Back again, in case you’re hungry

I find it difficult to believe that any regular readers here who might use Restaurant.com didn’t get a year’s worth of certificates over the weekend when they had that 80% off code floating around, but who knows. Maybe you were sleeping. Or maybe you’re new ’round here. (In which case: Hi!)

But just in case you missed out, right now at Restaurant.com (through August 17th, 2008) you can use coupon code GOODBUY to take 50% off your order. That’s $25 worth of dining for just $5, which means you can go to the movies, too!

(Master justifier, at your service.)

Shoe deals about to end

Well, I don’t mean that all shoe deals are about to end, and you should buy your shoes right this very second or miss out. Wow, that would be awful—life without shoe deals! I can’t even think about it!

(It’s possible I’ve had a little too much caffeine today. Just sayin’.)

However, in the next couple of days a couple of promotions over at 6pm.com are ending. So if you want it, you need to act today or tomorrow.

Of particular interest: The deal on Tevas I posted a couple of weeks ago is still going on, and now both Crocs and Vans are also just $19.95/pair with free shipping.

That’s not bargain-basement-cheapness, or anything, but great prices on brands you might otherwise be stuck paying top dollar for, anyway.

Gluten-free snacks, for less

If you or a loved one is living gluten-free, you know two things:

1) Most gluten-free products don’t taste very good,
and
2) The ones that taste good are expensive.

Hmph. (We had a stint as a gluten-free household. Scarred me for life, man.)

Anyway. One of the brands I discovered while avoiding gluten was Mi-Del, which makes some pretty palatable cookies. And right now, you can choose from amongst eligible Mi-Del products at Amazon and save $15 on your $39+ order with coupon code MIDEL555.

True, even though the items are already on sale, it’s a leetle bit of a misnomer, this promotion, because currently the lowest “combo” total you can get is about $57 before coupon. But it’s still a significant savings over what you’d pay at the store.

And I’m not kidding about them being good—we still buy the ginger snaps, even though we don’t have to, anymore.

Personalize it for free

Not only is there a huge assortment of back-to-school goodies on sale at Disney Shopping, but today only (Tuesday, August 12th, 2008), you can personalize any of those items for free. Order $50+ and you can ship the entire order for $5 with coupon code SHIPFOR5, too.

The next time I have a business meeting, I think I should show up with my files in a Little Mermaid backpack. Just to see what the client does.

Okay, maybe not. It’s fun to fantasize about, though!

Chase away the nothing-to-do blues

Whether you’re stocking the gift closet or just saving your sanity before school starts up again, you’ll find relief in the assortment of Crayola craft kitsicon currently marked down at Toys ‘R’ Us. They’re all $9.99, now, and some of ’em were as much as $35 before the markdown. Worth checking out, for sure.

Two great tastes. . . ?

I had no idea there was such a think as Popcorn Cake, much less that you could try it for free. I mean, man, cake and popcorn, together? That’s brilliant!

What’s that? What did you say? … Oh. I see. Not actual cake. Man. False advertising! But, um, still free. In case you want some. Even though it’s not really cake. Hmph.

Winners of the Growing Up Safari contest

Wow, y’all don’t disappoint. With less than 8 hours total contest time, we managed to get 260 entries into the contest for the Growing Up Safari DVDs.

Without further ado (because there’s another contest I have to launch tonight and I can only produce so much contest rhetoric in a single day), here are the five winners (and I swear I use a random number generator, although today’s results are looking very matchy-matchy):

Congratulations to all of the winners, and please check your email!

Thanks to all who played, and a very special thanks to Animal Planet and Bender/Helper Impact for donating the prizes.

Didn’t win this time? More prizes are coming up; in fact, the next contest will have the most winners we’ve ever had here on Want Not. I think. I’m not very good at math. Well, stay tuned and we’ll see.

Make big art in small spaces

Oh, I just love this. Have you ever seen the Crayola inflatable easel? It’s a giant easel, suitable for indoor or outdoor use, that can be deflated down to a nice small lump when not in use.

(If only I could do that with the kids, themselves, huh?)

Anyway, it’s currently $14.99 and free shipping eligible at Amazon, and the comparison prices on the side there indicate it normally sells for around $35 – $50.
