Must. Stop. Looking.

I’m sorry, I am—people are going to start sending me hate mail, if I don’t stop posting all these toy deals. But Amazon is going nuts and I keep finding good stuff.

So, um, stock up for future gifts/birthdays/holidays, or just wander away for a little while and pretend I didn’t say anything. Ahem.

Anyway! Here’s a few more 60% off Mega Bloks items, this time for older kids. I love love love the Dragons line, and look what I found:

Dragonstone Battlefield for $8 (reg. $19.99)
Battlestorm Castle for $20 (reg. $49.99)
Plasma Dragons: Valor Castle for $16 (reg. $39.99)

(I especially like it when my son has the dragons attack the pirate ship. Good times.)

Book it, baby

Right around now is when you’re juuuuust about done shopping, but there’s always an Uncle Fred or someone for whom you just haven’t managed to find anything, and really you don’t want to spend too much, and what should you get?

A book is always a good choice, you know. Barnes and Noble offers a handy holiday gift catalog with discounts up to 40%, so perhaps you could find something there.

Sweeten the deal: Use coupon code X7A7N3M for an additional 15% off one qualifying item through December 12th, 2007. Always free shipping on orders of $25+, too.

Uncle Fred can thank me later.

If you build it, they will play

The saddest thing about your children growing older is not that they are no longer small and squishy and think you’re omnipotent, but that their toys get smaller and smaller and have pieces that clog your vacuum cleaner.

(I’m going to put that on a bumper sticker. My wisdom, it is vast.)

So, speaking as a mom who spends half her life vacuuming up Lego pieces—and don’t get me wrong, I love Lego for playing, just not so much for cleaning—I rather miss the halcyon days of yore. I’m speaking, of course, of the days when we had Mega Bloks.

If you have little ones, check out the Wonder Builders Bag, Build N Race Bag, and Construction Bag. Right now they’re all 60% off (the two smaller sets are good gift closet items for preschoolers, too), and I promise they’re too big to vacuum.

Apparently geography isn’t girly enough

I don’t generally have a problem with products being marketed specifically at one gender or another. I mean, most boys I know are not interested in a hair salon play set. Most girls I know do not find Beyblades the awesometastic wonderfulness that boys generally do. So I get it.

But you know what? I draw the line at a learning globe specifically for girls. I was just talking with a friend yesterday (hi, Dorothy!) about how great those learning globes are, and how they’re a hot item right now. Never once did it occur to me that girls aren’t allowed to like globes unless they’re pink and—I swear, I nearly fell over when I read this in the product description—come with a cookbook. Seriously??

If you’re in the market for such a thing, I suggest you get a smart, gender-neutral model that will be used for years. Check out the Leapfrog and Oregon Scientific versions (not currently marked down much, but keep your eye on ’em). Someone is buying those pink monstrosities; lots of someones, in fact, or they wouldn’t keep selling them. We need to start sending the message to manufacturers that there’s no need to pander to our girls when it comes to educational products.

Because I know you have that gift card

If you haven’t yet spent your free $20 Dale & Thomas gift card that you got a while back, now’s the time to go shop; through December 9th, 2007, you can get free shipping on two or more items with coupon code HOLIDAYFS.

It’s nearly time for me to pack up the remainder of the popcorn I ordered last time and pass it out as teacher gifts. Thank goodness. (Did I tell you I ate an entire bag one night during the 3-day web hosting fiasco? Because I totally did. My old hosting provider is responsible for my pants being too tight, I tell you.)

Blue what, now?

You know me… I am not so much up on the latest technology. (Let me just pop an 8-track into the play here so that we can have a little music….) So I know that Blu-ray is a new DVD technology, but that’s where my knowledge ends.

But if you know all about Blu-Ray and have a fancy new player and whatnot, perhaps you’d like to go buy one Blu-ray movie and get one free at Amazon. I see they have A Christmas Story which is possibly the greatest movie ever, but in case you don’t want that, there’s over 30 other choices.

So many cheap items, so little time

I think I’ve posted this before, but you know what? This season, it is killing me. My brain is slowly turning to mush, and by Christmas morning my children will declare “Merry Christmas!” and I will reply will a joyful “Blahdi whadda?” Because the shopping, eventually it takes a toll on a person.

All of which is to say, if this is a repeat, sorry! Also, it’s only good through December 9th, 2007, so even if it is a repeat, hurry up because it’s almost over.

Now. That said: Over at Classic Closeouts they have a whole section of stuff under $10, plus you can use coupon code CJSTUFF for $10 off $40+, and all orders over $40 ship for free, automatically.

Happy hunting!

Ship it for free, two days only

Had your eye on something at Eddie Bauer? They’re not only having a big Buy 1 Sweater, Get the 2nd Half Off sale, but today and tomorrow (December 5th and 6th, 2007) you can ship any size order for free with coupon code DECEMBER.

It almost makes me wish I still lived in the frozen north.

(Almost.)

Photo cards and calendars

I want to go on record as saying that I have been a loyal Shutterfly customer for years and years. They’re nice quality at a reasonable price and their customer service is excellent.

But—being me—I can be lured by a deal. And I have to tell you, I’ve been very pleasantly surprised, here.

This year we did our Christmas cards through VistaPrint, where cards are currently half off with free shipping. They’re printed on cardstock (rather than photo paper) but they came out great. And they cost so much less than what I normally do, I have one of those smack-myself-on-the-forehead moments (“I coulda had a V8!”) wondering why I hadn’t made the switch earlier.

But now the deals over there are just getting silly, because you can get free photo calendars (just pay shipping), too. Dude. That’s, like, my very favorite price!

Check ’em out if you’re doing the holiday photo cards/calendar things.
