Disney deals on toys and more

Remember that with any coupons at Disney, you need to be logged in in order to apply them. Log in first, then do your shopping.

With that said: Save $10, $20, or $30 on your total purchase using coupon code SANTASAVE (click through the link for details). Coupon expires November 5th, 2006.

Or, use coupon code TOY20 to take any extra 20% off your toy purchase (no minimum!) all day today. That one expires at midnight tonight, so get shopping if you want to use it.

Hot deal tip: It appears as though you can stack these coupon codes. If you buy $50 worth of toys, say, enter the $10 off coupon first and then the 20% off coupon. Woo!

Even though some of that Princess stuff makes my toes curl, a little, I have to admit that it’s awfully darn cute….

JC Penney Wednesday Deals, Halloween decor

Check out the Wednesday Deals at JCP today if you’re into big lawn decorations.

Coupon code DOCKEM is good for free shipping on your $49+ order (expires November 7th, 2006), but sometimes codes don’t work in the outlet. You’ll have to try it and see.

I am seriously considering ordering this beauty, even though I know I never will because where would I put it the other 11 months of the year??

Maximizing your Target clearance, post-holiday

A couple of people have asked how to snag the best post-Halloween deals, so I thought I’d give a quick primer on my favorite clearance spot: Target.

First, the schedule: Target Halloween is 50% off as of today (November 1st). It will drop to 75% off between November 3rd and November 5th—this will vary by store, so you’ll have to do some looking. Halloween items will go to 90% off on November 7th, chain-wide.

Second, the skinny: In addition to the things that are obviously Halloween, like costumes and candy, keep your eyes peeled for Halloween-themed items which will be discounted in the system and probably not moved to the clearance area. This would include things like paper towels and napkins with a Halloween or Fall theme, themed toys (there are usually Halloween Barbies, sometimes other toys as well), lip balms, film, batteries… you just have to keep your eyes open for anything that looks like Halloween packaging.

Third, the mantra: Scan, scan, scan. Particularly if you’re trying to hit the 75% or 90% off days, scan everything. The markdown team will not be able to keep up with the little red labels, but most of the price adjusting is done automatically in their computer system. So scan before you buy.

Happy clearancing!

New month, new coupons!

I thought I’d just throw out a smattering of coupons for y’all this morning, and you can pick and choose what looks good while I run my daughter over to the dentist. (Because a dentist appointment the day after Halloween was such a stellar idea. I will require retail therapy when I return, provided that I don’t have to spend all my money on fillings.)

Play with trains, without tracking a mess

Once upon a time my toddler son became enamored of Thomas the Tank Engine, and like the sucker I was, when Christmas rolled around I got him a train table and about seventeen miles of wooden track and a dozen trains.

I cannot tell you how many times I stepped on errant pieces of track that weren’t needed for his favored configuration: a great big circle. Yes, his trains preferred to go around in circles. While talking to each other.

We shall refrain from wondering what this says about my son.

Instead, we shall focus on the fact that this awesome train table is not only on sale and has free shipping, it has a built-in track configuration and therefore does not present a hazard to your naked toes. I wouldn’t recommend it for an older train enthusiast, maybe, but for a toddler/preschooler it’s perfection.

Shopping for furniture: a twofer

I’m pretty good about tagging my email appropriately when it comes in, but sometimes I miss something. So if you send me a question and a lot of time goes by? You might want to send it again. I just realized I never answered this one, for example:

Dear gorgeous, smart, practical Mir,

My husband and I built and moved into our dream house almost a year ago. We have waited and waited to purchase new furniture. I am paralyzed with fear. How can I be sure I’m not getting ripped off? How can I be sure I’m buying quality furniture? We need a couch, entertainment center, and formal dining table, chairs, and china cabinet. Do I buy from a chain store like Haverty’s or do I try to go a big furniture outlet?

Do you have any suggestions? Thanks so much for trying to tackle this.

–Micki

Dear Micki: Probably you have not only bought your furniture by now, but moved several times as well. I’m sorry I missed your email before. Please forgive me, because you are so pretty.

Also, I then got this email:
