Stay dry, everyone!

First of all, for all of my readers in Sandy’s path: Please stay safe. Prayers going out to everyone being whomped by this storm.

If you’re not in the storm’s path, maybe you’d like a Pampers deal for your babies? (See what I did there? You stay dry, they stay dry…? Okay, I’ll stop now.) Right now Amazon has an available $2 coupon on cases of Pampers Baby Dry in every size, and if you combine that with the 20% Amazon Mom discount, you’re talking cheapness—as low as about $.13/diaper for the size 1s.

I can’t say I miss the days of buying diapers, but man, I would’ve loved to have been able to order them from home like this at a great price. Back in the dark ages we had to go to the store, you know. Riding the family dinosaur. (Get off my lawn, whippersnapper!)

Another one for the kids

Are your holiday shopping fingers warmed up, yet? Take a look at this: Amazon has this Razor PowerWing Caster Scooter for $47.54—their lowest price ever.

Given the current state of broken bones and injuries in our house, I’m going to pass, but I’m sure there are less accident-prone folks out there who may find this an enticing deal.

40% off everything, today only

I almost missed it, but thank goodness I didn’t—today (October 25th, 2012) only, you can take 40% off absolutely everything at LOFT with coupon code SHOP40. It works on New Arrivals, Clearance, and everything in-between, so shop away.

As always, spend $125+ and your shipping is automatically free; otherwise, it’s a flat $8.95.

I’m not looking, I’m not looking….

Is it Kryptonite? No, it’s just a slew of new items in the sale section at Sephora. I see you there, $3 OPI polishes. Mocking me. I can be strong, you know.

As always, shipping is free on your $50+ order, you get to pick 3 free samples with every order, and don’t forget to click “show current promotions” to take advantage of a bonus offer while you’re there. I mean, assuming you go and look.

I’ll just be over here. Not looking.

… but I kind of love it

I’m putting this in the “Retail gone wrong” category, but honestly, I’m not sure I want to be right, because I can’t stop laughing.

Like any good southern cook (okay, I’m a yankee, but I try), I have a 12-inch cast iron skillet that lives atop my stove and gets used for everything from cornbread to eggs. There’s nothing like cast iron for even, high heat (and extra iron!) in your cooking.

The pan I own is this one, and Amazon’s current price of around $19 is about right.

But! Today is the one-year anniversary of Home.Woot, and look what they’re offering, to celebrate—it’s a Woot-branded Lodge cast iron skillet. It has the big Woot exclamation point on it! I find this hilarious. (Not hilarious enough to pay $30 plus $5 shipping, but hilarious nonetheless.) These pans last forever—many of my friends ’round here have their grandmother’s skillets—but would the extra money be worth it for generations to come? “Nana, tell us the story about the Woot-Off one more time!” Seems unlikely.

But it’s still funny.

You know they’re my favorites

A few years ago we switched over mostly to glass food storage, here at home, but of course I can’t send Pyrex in lunch boxes unless 1) I want their bags to weigh 10 pounds and 2) I’m hoping my kids like glass shards for lunch. So for portable food storage, I use Lock & Lock. It seals up leak-proof but is easy to open even for little fingers. Love.

Right now Amazon has two big sets on sale if you’re thinking about making the switch. Get an 18-container set (mostly small containers; great for lunches) for just $29.99 (43% off), or go for the 16-container set (many larger containers) for just $37.99 (49% off).

I would buy one of these sets just because it’s such a good deal, but I fear my husband would divorce me. Heh.

A tricky, delicious quiz

I would certainly only be buying 6 10.5 ounce bags of Reese’s peanut butter cups if:

A) They dropped from $14.90 to $12.90 in my cart, so just $2.15/bag, or just about $.11/cup, delivered, with Prime.
B) Halloween was coming and I needed candy to give out.
C) I’d recently broken my hand on an apple (did I mention that…?)
D) All of the above!

You can skip the quiz and just buy the candy, by the way. I wouldn’t blame you one bit.

A handy Kohls algorithm

Sometimes people ask me, “How do I know if it’s a good day to shop at Kohls?” And while I’m happy to answer, I can also tell you how to figure it out for yourself. Here: Ask yourself two questions, instead. First, ask yourself, “Is today a day that ends in a Y?” If the answer is yes, it’s probably a good day to shop at Kohls. But then ask yourself, “Is today Wednesday?” If the answer to that one is yes, it’s definitely a good day to shop at Kohls.

Whaddaya know—today’s Wednesday. Kohls time!!

Everyone gets automatic free shipping on $75+, and everyone earns $10 Kohls Cash for every $50 spent. If you have a Kohls charge card, you can use coupon code HARVEST30 for an additional 30% off your order, plus use code SHIP2MVC for free shipping on any size order. No Kohls card? You can use code FULLMOON for an extra 15% off, anyway.

So now you know.

Today just got Wootier

I have no idea how I nearly missed that there was a Woot-Off going on today, but thank goodness I finally figured it out. There’s deals rotating around on Woot, Home.Woot, Kids.Woot, Sport.Woot, and—last, but not least—Wine.Woot (which is only wine about half the time, and other edibles or serveware, the rest).

If you’re new to this setup, the deal is that products will rotate through, each lasting until they sell out or about 30 minutes—whichever happens first. I have yet to see a product last 30 minutes, though, but there’s a first time for everything. And don’t forget that the deal is now that you pay $5 for shipping on any Woot site for an entire day of orders, no matter how much you buy. That works out to some real savings on Woot-Off days.
