Prime Day is coming
Heads up, my pretties! Amazon’s big Christmas-in-July event, Prime Day, begins at 9:00 pm tonight, and that means a whole host of daily and lightning deals, but you’ll have to be vigilant to snap up the best ones.
Don’t currently have Prime? You can sign up for a free trial if you’ve never had one, or (this is newish, I think) if you’ve had it before you can opt to pay for a month for $10.99, which—depending on tomorrow’s deals—might be worth the cost.
I am ready. Honestly ever since they increased the number of daily Lightning Deals it’s been like a daily Where’s Waldo of steals. Kind of like, “Saw this yesterday… why do they keep listing this… who on earth buys that… OH WAIT that’s 50% off a thing I really use!” Etc. Here’s to tonight and tomorrow bringing us lots of lovely deals….
Sur La Table? Sure thing!
If you love all things Sur La Table except when it comes to their retail prices (*coughcoughinsanitycough*), get over to Spring post haste—in addition to literally thousands of other great markdowns, they’ve got hundreds of Sur La Table discounts happening right now.
Shipping and returns are always free, so it’s a zero risk expedition.
This is the perfect time to either treat yourself to something you couldn’t afford, before, or to pick up some wedding and/or housewarming gifts and look like a much bigger spender than you actually are. Or both! Either way.
Time to stock up at Children’s Place
Ready to stock up for next year, or your kiddo had a growth spurt this summer? Assuming your kids are small(ish) (read: not adult-sized), get on over to Children’s Place right now to enjoy 80% off all the Clearance and 50% off everything else. Plus shipping is free on every order, so whether you buy a little or a lot, you’re saving. While we all know they have tons of sales, this particular one is a today-only deal.
I see that they finally extended their sizes so that you can go all the way up to size 16—they didn’t have that when mine were little, so enjoy it now. There’s no cheaper place to pick up the basics the kids need. Basically this store is the only reason I miss my kids still being little.
Welcome back to regular post-holiday life
Did you have a long weekend? Was it awesome? I wandered off and did things like… spend time with my husband. And it turns out I really like that guy. Yay!
But now the fireworks are over, taking with them my excuse to eat potato chips all day long, too. (*sob*)
How will I soothe my soul, now? How do I get back to “normal” without feeling bitter about having to do normal things like work and cook dinner? Oh—Target has me covered, actually. They’ve got the July Beauty Box up, and for just $7 delivered I can get $30 worth of cool products, which eases the sting of the aforementioned lack of potato chips.
There’s headwraps, there’s fun masques, there’s all kinds of stuff. Go get one before they sell out. It might not cure what ails you, but you should probably check, right?
Love Clarks?
The only thing I don’t love about Clarks shoes is the price. I’m not saying they’re not worth it, mind you, I’m just saying I would rather they were cheaper. Ha!
Well, today on the Clarks site there’s a huge assortment of “2 for $99” shoes, and they ship for free, too. What better excuse to pick up not one, but two, incredibly well-made and comfortable kicks? I can’t think of any.
Looks like original prices in this set of sale offerings go up to about $150. Choose wisely and you could end up saving a ton.
Extra savings on essentials, right from your computer
Okay, you’re not thinking about back-to-school yet (heck, some of you just got out of school last week…), but if you did, you could skip the insanity in August. Or if you need to restock the cleaning closet. Or whatever; you may remember that you can shop Dollar General online, but right now you can also save 20% and get free shipping with coupon code SHIPSAVE20.
In my case, that means I can stock up on filler paper and spiral notebooks so that my kids don’t get them at the college bookstore (because they’ll pay five times as much, there), plus I can get toilet paper, Windex, a new cooler… all kinds of stuff, really, without having to fight through crowds or even put on real pants.
I fear I have said too much. Um. Focus on the savings, please.
Swim away with this deal
Last year’s swimsuits not feeling so comfy? Did your kid have the audacity to have a growth spurt right after you bought her a new suit? That’s okay—Lands’ End is here for you. Through 11:59 pm tonight (Monday, June 26th) you can take 40% off regular and sale priced swimwear for the whole family with coupon code SAILING and PIN 1100.
Shipping is a flat $8 or free on your post-coupon total of $50+. I’ve never in my life had a problem spending $50 at Lands’ End, but you do you….
Outdoor lounging, at end-of-season prices
Listen, I don’t know where you live, but where I live, right now it’s alternating between surface-of-the-sun hot and torrential downpours. I’m still sort of waiting for that “lazy summer weather” I was promised, but whatever. It’ll show up, eventually.
In the meantime, if you’ve discovered that your outdoor furniture could use a little refresh, you’re probably debating between spending full price now or waiting until the end-of-summer clearance. I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to wait: Right now Home Depot has a slew of outdoor cushions available at 75% off, plus they’ll ship to you for free.
There’s tons of options, but I’ll just suggest you stick with the Sunbrella fabrics if you want something that’s going to withstand the weather for years to come. (You’ll pay a little more, but it’s well worth it.) Either way, though, you’re not going to see prices like this again until September (if there’s anything left).
Mother your college student without them realizing
It’s now rounding the middle of June, and here in my house, this is known as “Stock up on dorm food” season. My kids (both! both of them, this time!) are gearing up to head to campus at the beginning of August, and my job for the next month or so is to accumulate what they’ll need to eat in the dorm when they can’t be bothered to hit the dining hall (or it’s the wee hours and they need power for studying).
Sure, I try to buy some healthy stuff, and then I also buy candy, and I buy stupid little microwavable cups of macaroni and cheese and ramen and I remind myself that they are young and healthy and this is the phase of life where they can eat junk and be okay.
But here’s my secret weapon, and you can laugh, but I’m telling you this is primo wisdom I’m laying down here: Buy your college kid(s) some Fiber One bars. Do it. They come in a gazillion varieties and they’re basically junk, but college students will all find that their… ahhh… digestive health… suffers a little in the dorm, at some point. And you can pack probiotics and such, but they probably won’t use them. They will, however, eat the Fiber One bars. Ask me how I know!
Right now (this may be a Prime-only deal; I’m not sure) Amazon has this 36-pack of Fiber One Brownies available for $13.94, which is already pretty good, plus there’s a clippable 25% off coupon, plus you can save up to an additional 15% more with Subscribe & Save, meaning you could be getting them for $8.36 delivered (under $.24/bar), and you don’t ever have to have a conversation with your supposedly adult kid(s) about constipation. Seriously, win/win.
If you’re ready to get your Wonder Woman on
Listen, I hate to jump on a bandwagon when it’s not warranted, but I took my (adult) kids to see Wonder Woman and it was possibly even better than the hype. I laughed, I cried, I was surprised at how great it was.
With that in mind, I have to tell you that I have never been a Barbie person—at all—but when I saw this Collector’s Edition Barbie Wonder Woman today I let out an involuntary little squee. It’s perfect. I want one for my desk, immediately. It’s not on sale and so I’m… you know… wavering… but… maybe I can justify it…? (I do have a birthday coming up….)
If you’re looking for Wonder Woman toys for younger kids, the Mattel Shop has their Barbie offerings featured right on the splash page, and if you sign up for their newsletter you’ll get a code for $10 off $50, too. Which is handy if you, like me, then discover that ZOMG they actually have the set of all three collectible figures marked down right now, plus you could save the additional $10. (I might like the Antiope doll even better. Help.)
Look, I’m not saying you need these. I’m not even saying I need them. I’m just saying they’re kind of awesome. Thats all.
