Scribble and solve for under $10
Oooooh—Amazon has marked Scribblenauts for the Nintendo DS down to just $9.55! Free Prime shipping, or free Super Saver Shipping on $25+.
This (and Super Scribblenauts, which is still nearly $30) is one of my kids’ favorites. And unlike many of the DS games, which seem to me an exercise in pushing a button or drawing lines, this one actually makes them think and get creative. (Also: It’s rated E10+, but if your kid’s a good reader, I’d say it’s good for maybe 8+.)
In short, it’s a great price on fun educational game. Get it, if you haven’t already.
Cancel out the noise
I just noticed that today’s Amazon Gold Box holds the Jawbone PRIME bluetooth headset for just $30.
Reviews are mixed, but if you’ve been wanting a Jawbone at a lower pricetag than what, say, the ICON models go for, this may be worth a try.
I still don’t understand how the noise canceling aspect works, but I pink puffy heart my Jawbone for it. It really does filter out the background, and there’s no more repeating myself over and over just because the kids are squabbling in the backseat or whatever.
Guaranteed, free overnight shipping—forever
So here’s the thing: Once upon a time, I shopped at Zappos all the time. They did 110% pricematching (remember those good ol’ days?), and any time I found a pair of shoes on sale that I wanted, I went and got them from Zappos, cheaper. But then they stopped doing it, and I just about stopped shopping there (because their prices aren’t particularly competitive).
But. Every now and then, I need a pair of shoes theverynextdayohmygosh, like when a child decides to spontaneously (it is spontaneous, not that I didn’t have the foresight to check ahead of time; hush) outgrow his dress shoes two days before I need him dressed up for an awards ceremony, or whatever. And then—after running around town, finding nothing in his size—I turn to Zappos, because I’m a VIP member and that means I get free overnight shipping no matter what. Zappos has saved my bacon more than once, this way. Expensive? Yes. Still a handy option to have? Absolutely.
VIP membership is usually closed, but they’ve just opened it up again. It costs you nothing; just sign up and then shop through your VIP address (that’s just a “vip” instead of a “www” in front of the zappos.com part), and you’ll get free overnight shipping on anything you buy, forever.
You might never use it. But you may as well sign up for it while you have the chance, just in case.
How about a little Lands’ End
Oh, Lands’ End, I wish I could quit you!
But I can’t. Not when you keep releasing these awesome codes. You have until May 16th to use coupon code EVERYTHING with PIN 1555 to take 25% off your entire order, plus receive free shipping. Works on sale/clearance!
I absolutely love their school uniform stuff—wears like iron, and of course it all has that Lands’ End unconditional guarantee, too.
Bag a Britax
Have you been waiting for a great deal on a Britax car seat? Today may be your lucky day—Diapers.com is having a Britax Flash Sale (you may have to scroll down on the main splash page to see the graphic/link for it). Everything’s 20% – 25% off, which is a substantial discount when you’re talking about a brand that almost never gets marked down.
Looks like coupon code SLICKWIPES will take your total down another 15%, too, making this an even better deal. [Edited to add: Looks like you need to be a new customer to use this code.]
Keep in mind that, no, you do not have to buy a $200+ car seat to keep your kid safe. But these are consistently rated the safest by places like Consumer Reports, and everyone I know who has one loves it. Though I guess once you’ve spent that kind of money, you’re going to make yourself love it, regardless. Heh.
Whoa—Crocs get freaky, tomorrow
I can’t decide if this is cool or creepy, but I’m leaning towards cool. Crocs will be releasing their new limited-edition “Chameleons” shoes later this week, but you can sign up today to get in on the pre-ordering tomorrow if you think your kids will simply have to have a pair. They change color in the sun!
As much as I like this, a little Googling revealed the suggested retail price may be as much as $40. I don’t know about you, but I simply don’t love my kids quite that much. Ahem. Maybe there’s an indulgent grandparent around who wants to bite that bullet for you, though.
If you’re going to just shop Crocs for the regular stuff, you have until May 16th to use coupon code SAVINGS15 for $15 off your $75+ order and free shipping.
Wednesday means Kohls
Stack up the savings today at Kohls, because Wednesdays are the best day for it!
Today’s a particularly good one because it’s time to earn Kohls Cash—$10 for every $50 you spend. Plus, if you’ve got a Kohls charge card, you’ve got a week to use coupon code LOVE2SAVE30 for an additional 30% off any order. Shipping is automatically free on $75+, or use code SHIP4FREE for free shipping on any size order (with Kohls card).
No Kohls card? No problem; coupon code NEW4996 takes 10% off any order.
There’s plenty of deals to be had, but holy cow check out the Sonoma Patio sale (it’s the fourth item on their splash screen)—they’ve got their anti-gravity recliners marked down to just $55, and with 30% off and free shipping that’s just crazy. I may cave and buy us a couple more (we currently only have two). With tax, it comes out to around $81 shipped for me for a pair. But I will miss telling the children that the good chairs are only for the grownups….
It’s a shoe roundup
Oh, sure, I’m always good for a nod to 6pm, but even I sometimes forget that there are plenty of other shoe deals to be had out there. Allow me to tear myself away from the Betsey Johnson sale at 6pm today and elaborate:
Shoebuy is having a graduation sale; use coupon code EMLGRAD11 for $20 off your $80+ order.
It’s Friends & Family time at Endless, but apparently their friends/family are in a different income bracket than I am, because this means you can use coupon code MAYEVENT for 20% off your $100+ order (some exclusions apply). (So basically, you can be pals as long as you’re feeling spendy.)
And over at Shoes.com, use coupon code MYSHOES15 for 15% off regular-price shoes or code 25SALE for 25% off sale/clearance items (some brand exclusions apply).
I guess the moral of the story is that there’s always a good way to get a deal on shoes. Thank goodness.
It’s a miracle (of rice and noodles)
Have you heard of Shirataki miracle noodles? They’re… well, I’m not sure what they are. Fiber. Wait! Through the miracle of Google, I’ve determined that they’re made of Japanese yam flour. You’re welcome.
Anyway, the miracle is that they’re… zero calories. And they’re gluten-free. And I keep hearing about them but have never tried them. Only now I’m going to take the plunge, because Amazon has them on special, where coupon code MIRACLEN for 15% off and buying via Subscribe & Save gives you another 15% off and free shipping. Pretty cheap for a miracle, really.
By the way, several of you have written in to point out that Amazon is no longer offering free Prime shipping on Subscribe & Save purchases. I was waiting to make a few purchases to see if maybe they just weren’t calling it Prime anymore, but it was still shipping quickly, but… it appears that stuff really is shipping more slowly. So basically you can save 15% or you can get it in two days, but not both. Le sigh.
Save extra today, because you’re pretty
Technically, it’s probably not true that the current sale at Bon-Ton is because you’re pretty, but we can pretend it is. And then don’t you feel all extra-fancy? Yay!
Anyway, back to the sale: Today (Tuesday, May 10th) only, you can use coupon code WPTRDQMAY11 for an extra 20% off just about everything. Plus, you can use coupon code 2011SELECTGUEST for free shipping on any order.
Surf the sale items for the best deals, of course. But whatever you do, don’t wait until tomorrow—I missed this one yesterday, and today is the last day.
