It’s okay because they’re learning

Day 6 of the Video Game Deals at Amazon is themed “Play and Learn,” and that means there’s some great deals on DS games that flex your kids’ brains.

Of particular note: If you haven’t yet tried the wonder that is the Professor Layton games, they are truly brain-bending and my kids love them. And today, all three of them are marked down to just $21 (and these hardly ever go on sale). Choose from Professor Layton and the Curious Village, Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, or the newest one, Professor Layton and the Unwound Future.

I have a little crush on Professor Layton. Don’t tell anyone.

Fisher Price forever and ever, amen

I have a soft spot in my heart for Fisher Price; my garage and dollhouse in my youth were my favorite toys ever, and I love that my kids played with similar toys (updated, sure) when they were little.

If you’re a Fisher Price fan, check out today’s Target Daily Deals for a variety of discounted FP toys. Of particular interest: The headline deal is for the Loving Family Small Dollhouse for half price ($20); that’s a great option for when you want a “full” dollhouse but are short on space. The price is nice, too.

I do still kind of miss the wooden people with the round heads, though. (Mmmmm… choking hazards.)

Littlest Pet Shop: Both creepy and cheap

Full disclosure: I find the Littlest Pet Shop toys extremely disturbing. My daughter used to play with them when she was younger, and I used to say things like “Why are their heads so big?” and “Why do they bobble?” and “Why are they looking at me like that??” So, really, I’m not a fan. But still, kids love ’em.

If you’re an indulgent parent—or don’t find them creepy, yourself—here’s a deal for you on the creepy lovely Littlest Pet Shop toys: Go to Amazon, and if you put the Collector’s Starter Pack ($9.99) and the Carry Case ($7.99) into your cart, at checkout they’ll deduct another $4, giving you both items for a grand total of $14.

It doesn’t make them any less creepy, but it does make them more affordable.

Now I’m hungry

Nothing says “I love you and the holidays” like a fancy pancake pan. No, really. Why are you laughing?

If you go check out Williams-Sonoma today, they’re offering a one-day deal on both the Ebelskiver Filled Pancake Pan and the Nordic Ware Waffled Pancake Pan (scroll down a bit on the main screen, if you don’t see them). Both are half price for one day only; pay only $20 instead of $40. Shipping starts at $6.50, but only goes up to $8.50 for two. (And yes, there are knock-offs of both of these which are cheaper. These are expensive, quality pans.)

I don’t think I have to tell you how much my children want that Ebelskiver pan. I think they think those pancake balls could easily be filled with chocolate and magic.

Sometimes I plan ahead by accident

Did you know that Kohls is one of the stores where you can save your cart and come back to it later? It’s true; just sign in when you’re shopping, then when you leave, sign out—it’ll ask you if you’d like to save your cart.

Sometimes I shop around at Kohls and then decide I don’t quite feel like spending the money right then, and I leave my cart and go on my merry way. And then the next time I see something shiny over there, I go back and get a lovely surprise: Everything in my cart has dropped in price! Wooo! That’s what happened to me with these scarf and gloves sets. I mean, super-cute, am I right? But no way was I paying the original price of $30. And I was even feeling iffy about the $15 they were marked down to a couple of days ago. But now they’re just $9.49, and with coupon code NEXTORDER20 they come down to $7.60, plus any order ships for free with coupon code FREECCDEC.

It’s like I totally planned it.

Get your Sims on!

It’s Day 5 of the Video Game Deals Extravaganza at Amazon, and today is Sims day.

If your kids are anything like mine, anything involving Sims is awesome, because they’d rather spend time customizing their Miis over actual gameplay most of the time, anyway, and this way they can do both. Heh. If you have a Wii, be sure to check out MySims Collection, which is brand new and still $50+ everywhere else—Amazon is selling it today for just $20! (It’s two games, MySims Racing and MySims, both of which have great reviews.)

Not that you need any more video games. But I don’t judge.

It’s just a pretty day

I’m feeling like today is turning out to be a little beauty-and-cosmetics heavy, but it must be because y’all are so pretty.

Guess what! Stila is having an online warehouse sale, today only. Prices are up to 80% off, and only while supplies last.

Stuff was flying out of my cart. Good for a burst of adrenaline, though.

Avon calling

More stocking stuffer possibilities here….

Shop at Avon and if you pick an eRep to shop through, you can use coupon code FIRSTREP to ship any order for free. Check out the kids’ body paints—on sale for under a buck, and what a cool stocking stuffer!

After you pick up the Obligatory Christmas Lip Balms, of course. Jesus was displeased by chapped lips, I’m certain of it.

Man not need girly coupons!

Man is manly. Man grunt! Man cook with fire! Man grow hair on chest!

Man shop for many manly things at Man Cave, like meat! Man pay full price, because man is too manly for sales!

Man has smart wife. Smart wife checks out sidebar Atlanta Groupon for $61 to Man Cave for just $29. Man grunt in grudging appreciation. Man buy more manly things to put more hair on man’s chest.

Ho ho ho, have some jolly orange

My holiday shopping is complete, which means we have moved on to the “just one more stocking stuffer!” portion of our program. (I am all about the stocking stuffer. Who doesn’t love little gifts? In wee containers? Kitten-killers, that’s who.)

So imagine my delight to wander over to The Body Shop this morning and see that you can get a free Jolly Orange Body Butter and free shipping with every purchase, now through the weekend. There’s plenty of specials going on, too, as well as a helpful “Gifts under $20” section.

That’s stocking stuffers for everyone else, and either another gift for my gift closet stash or a bit of fragrant yum for myself. Win/win!
