Hey, Mac-heads!

Looking for deals on Mac computers? Check out MacConnection, today—they’re offering discounts over Apple’s education price on tons of computers.

Discounts start at around $50 off the MSRP on the base MacBook Air, and go all the way up to nearly $300 off retail on the high-end MacBook Pro. I’m not suggesting you pick up a new computer on a whim, but if you’re already in the market, I don’t think we’ll be seeing anything that beats these prices on new Macs.

Happy Thanksgiving! Here’s some deals!

Good morning! I am actually making stuffing while I type this. This is called multitasking.

A few deals to start off your day of thankfulness:

Amazon has the 8 GB current-generation iPod Touch for just $199, today. And keep your eye on those Black Friday Lightning Deals for goodies, all day today. They started at 6:00 a.m. Eastern which is really early, for them, so there must be a ton of items they’re hoping to cram into today.

You can wait for Black Friday to shop at Children’s Place, but why would you? Today you can take 20% off of everything with coupon code THANKS, plus you can stack code FSHOLIDAY for free shipping, too.

Target’s online-only Thanksgiving Sale is up, with plenty of cool deals to check out.

And the Thanksgiving deals and early bird specials are flying fast and furious over at Kohls, too—plus you get $10 Kohls Cash for every $50 you spend, plus use coupon code EXTRA20 for another 20% off. Shipping is free on $75+.

I have to go stir some onions. Today’s prize and more deals are coming up in a bit!

Don’t forget you can shop on Thanksgiving!

Just a quick reminder—many stores are putting their Black Friday deals online starting tomorrow. Check in after you put the turkey in the oven to see if there’s anything you need to snag. I won’t be posting all day, but I’ll definitely scope out the sales in the morning and check in with some suggestions.

Also: Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Get NOOKed

So, you think you’d like to buy a NOOK, but you’re not quite ready to fork over all that cash to Barnes & Noble. I understand. How about some certified refurbished options?

Overstock currently has the NOOK Wi-Fi for $100 and the NOOK 3G + WiFi for $120 today.

If buying the first one—with a merchandise total of less than $100—use coupon code 152096 for another 10% off, to get it for $90. If buying the second—with a total of over $100—use coupon code 149418, instead, to take $15 off of $100+. You’ll get it for $105. Either one can be shipped for just a dollar.

Of course, if you must have a brand new one, feel free to go spend more. But if you’d rather save the money, this is a great way to do it.

Welcome home, dollies

It’s a rite of passage for a little kid to get a dollhouse. (Then it’s another rite of passage to fill it with plastic dinosaurs and have the dolls scream and run away, Tokyo-style, but that’s a different conversation.)

May I suggest this adorable KidKraft Chelsea Dollhouse, available at Meijer for just $59.99? It’s big enough for tons of imaginative play, and even comes with 19 pieces of furniture to get the party started. Use coupon code NOVFREE for free shipping, too.

For comparison: It’s currently $81 at Amazon. I don’t know about you, but I like Meijer’s price better.

Signing Time, super cheap

Alert (and extremely pretty) Want Not regular Jan reports that the hugely popular “Signing Time” DVDs usually run about $15-$20 per disc, but that she found the following at Best Buy: Signing Time: Series 2, Vols. 1-3 and Signing Time: Series 2, Vols. 4-7, each available for just $14.99 apiece and free shipping. (For comparison: I did find the first set on Amazon for $54.)

That’s three discs for the price of one in each set, not to mention making sure your toddler has a way to tell you what you seem not to understand when she just shrieks in your general direction.

But if you want a Kinect…

Honestly, I am a little bit suspicious of the Kinect. I see the ads everywhere (I think I’ve had some ads for it here on Want Not, even) and I only sort of understand how it works. You know how long it took me to embrace the Wii; you’ll just have to excuse me while I put on my tinfoil hat and maintain that I don’t want a gaming system that looks at me.

My paranoia, however, should not dampen your desire, if a Kinect is what you’re after. Right now at the Microsoft Store the Kinect is available for $300, plus you can use coupon code TNSGIFT10 for another 10% off, making it just $270 shipped.

The bundle includes the 4GB XBox 360 console, the Kinect Sensor and Kinect Adventures game, and one month of XBox Live membership. I have no idea what any of that means. But it’s a good deal if you’re not a new technology pansy like me.

A quick Harry Potter gaming tip

My children have lost their fool minds over the new LEGO Harry Potter video games—they already have the DS version and are agitating for the Wii one. Now, I’m a big fan of the LEGO games for the humor factor (what’s more fun than knocking someone’s LEGO arm off? very little!), but the prices aren’t making me feel warm and fuzzy.

So: Currently LEGO Harry Potter for the Wii is $41 and LEGO Harry Potter for the DS is $25, if you want to buy them from Amazon. However, the same games are available directly from LEGO’s Sales and Deal section for $25 and $15, respectively.

Shipping from LEGO starts at just $4.95, so even paying that, you come out well ahead of Amazon’s price. Just in case you have a LEGO Harry Potter gaming fanatic on your hands, too. (And if you don’t: I’d be happy to lend you one of mine….)

Four games in one

Yet another candidate for the Awesome Stocking Stuffers pile—right now at Buy.com you can grab Clue, Mouse Trap, Perfection, Aggravation for the DS for just $10 shipped. (For comparison: It’s $16.50 at Amazon with mostly positive reviews.)

Just the thought of having all those games on hand without having the eighty gazillion little pieces that go with the conventional board-versions makes me feel like it might just be a Christmas miracle.

Leap into savings (and SpongeBob)

Huzzah—LeapFrog has their Black Friday deals online already, and right at the top of the deals page there’s a great bundle deal. Get the Special Edition SpongeBob Gift Pack (the Leapster looks like SpongeBob! Haaaaaa!) for just $37.49 (half off). Applying coupon code CSLEAP15 should take off another 15% and give you free shipping.

The Leapster craziness arrived on the scene after my kids were too old for them, but I know a lot of folks (and their kids) really love ’em.
