The triumphant return of the $5 cookbooks
It’s my very favorite cookbook sale—the Taste of Home $5 Cookbook Sale, the perfect way to stock your kitchen or knock out a few hostess and/or teacher gifts all in one fell swoop.
Spend $20+ (that’s just 4 books) and you can use coupon code LST02 to ship your order for free, too.
It truly is becoming the most wonderful time of the year! (And by “most wonderful” I mean “filled with excuses to cook and eat,” of course.)
Hunt down the monsters
I know nothing at all about this game other than the buzz I’ve seen online, but all of the buzz I’ve seen online basically boils down to ZOMG THIS IS SO TOTALLY AWESOME DUDE. Which… well, take it as you will. But! Amazon currently has the Monster Hunter Tri Classic Controller Bundle for the Wii available for just $30.
This is a pretty great deal even if you really just want the controller, but the game has phenomenal reviews. (Just bear in mind that it’s rated T; this is not a kiddie game.)
Me, I may just buy it because the cover art looks a lot like what I look like in the morning before my coffee….
Happy Veteran’s Day—have some rugged clothing
You have the next few days to check out the Veteran’s Day Sale at Eddie Bauer, which means up to 60% off on all your favorite stuff. There’s various ways to get free shipping, too (see details on the site).
Because nothing says, “Thank you for defending our country” like a down vest. Or something.
(Oh, I am just teasing you, Eddie! You know I love you!)
It’s back, and just as cuddly
I don’t know if y’all remember this, but last year Amazon did a bonus buy thing where if you spent a certain amount of money on toys, you got a free limited edition Gund teddy bear. I always figure out how to do that deal when they offer it, because the bear is really nice—soft and adorable and a pretty hefty size. It makes a great Toys For Tots donation if your kids have enough stuffed animals already.
Anyway, the deal is back; spend $75+ on the 150 or so qualifying toy items, and this year’s bear is yours for free. Plenty of the qualifying items are already on sale, too, so if you have a bunch of shopping to do, this would be a great way to get started.
And if you get the bear and decide to keep it for yourself, I certainly won’t judge you.
Some extra oomph for your Monday
We’re sliding into the holiday season, and that means retailers are starting to step up their game a bit. Like today, the Target Daily Deals are all beefed up for Monday (they’re calling it Merry Mega Monday; how festive), with about four times as many deals as they usually have.
Now, many of these items don’t thrill me too much, but the E.L.F. Lips Beauty Book would be a great stocking stuffer (and it’s down to just $3). And all of the deals—as always—ship for free. So maybe it’ll be a Merry Mega Monday, after all.
Doot doo doo doo, feelin’ Groupony
(I’m aware that the rhythm didn’t work quite right on that. I’m still on my first cup of coffee, and cannot be held responsible for my failure to seamlessly mash deals into earworms, okay?)
Several of you missed the last Groupon deal for Blurb and asked me to keep an eye out for you in case it came around again. Ask and ye shall receive! Check out today’s Colorado Springs Groupon to get $60 worth of custom photobooks at Blurb for just $20. Sweeeeeeeet.
I have to tell you, though, that is not my favorite Groupon for today. I mean, it’s a great one—don’t get me wrong—but I think my all-time favorite has just popped up today. Check out the sidebar Cleveland Groupon; $25 gets you $50 worth to HelpChildren.org, which means you’re not only getting a deal, you’re contributing to charitable work in Malawi. Love. And the truth is that I would love this even if their merchandise was kind of meh, but they carry a ton of items that have been featured on various “style watch” lists, so you may be able to knock out a couple of gifts with this one.
Once again, Groupon makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
It’s sweater weather
Today only, Children’s Place has slashed prices on all sweaters—most of them are just $10. Today’s the perfect day to stock up on what the kids will need for the colder months.
Don’t forget coupon code OCTOBER10A for another 20% off, too. Because the only thing better than a $10 sweater is… an $8 sweater!
Swimming, swimming through the ocean blue…
Today’s video game Deal of the Day at Amazon is Endless Ocean: Blue World for the Wii. It’s down to just $20, with a bonus Wii Speak included (you can use that with the Animal Crossing: City Folk game we were all buying last year…). The Wii Speak alone runs close to $20, so this is pretty much a nearly-5-stars game for free when you get a Speak. Just sayin’.
Reviews seem to indicate that this is a very relaxing game. I don’t know about you, but I could use a little relaxing once we get to the holiday craziness.
Saturday deals
Goooood morning! I hope everyone is having a lovely, slug-like Saturday. I know I am. Ahhhhh!
Holy adorable, Batman—check out these glow-in-the dark Crocs for the little ones. Cute, right? Add a pair to your cart and the price drops to just $8.99. Use code secondchance for free shipping, too. (Edited to add: This was working this morning, but it sounds like it’s not working now. Sorry!)
Get your designer groove on today over at 6pm.com; they’ve got deep discounts on Calvin Klein, Max and Cleo, Betsey Johnson… all kinds of cool clothes to go with those pretty, pretty shoes.
I am officially getting old, because I cannot believe the next words I’m about to say: The Target Daily Deals have a really pretty assortment of aprons (I know! I know!) for just $13 apiece. I am ashamed, being intrigued by aprons. But they’re really pretty.
This weekend at Aeropostale you can take an additional 20% off your $100+ order with coupon code KICKOFF20 and get free shipping. This is an excellent time to buy your whiny teen some jeans. Trust me.
Need a stocking stuffer for your guy who has too many ties? Here you go! Sure, it’s a “As Seen On TV” item, but a tie-organization solution for under $5 is kinda cool.
Hey—I know this is totally shocking—but Macy’s is having a huge sale this weekend! (Who could’ve seen that coming?) (I mean, other than everyone?) Use coupon code BIGSALE to save an additional 20%, plus get free shipping on your $100+ order.
I need to go tend to my family for a bit, but I think we need to have a weekend contest, later. It’s been too long! And my closet runneth over with goodies. ‘Tis the season, people… stay tuned.
Build-A-Bribe
Thank goodness my kids are (finally) outgrowing stuffed animals, but I do remember how a trip to Build-A-Bear used to pretty much be kiddie Nirvana. Of course, it sure would be nice if you could take a trip there without needing a second mortgage on your house, am I right?
Check out today’s Tucson Groupon for $20 to Build-A-Bear for just $10.
You could use it for a holiday gift. Or you could use it to buy compliance when you need it most. What? I never said I was above bribing my kids to behave; if the bribe costs half as much, more power to the briber, I say.
(Thanks for the tip, Michelle! You’re pretty!)
