Procrastination pays off sometimes
Did you think about shopping for shoes when I posted that the Buy One, Get a Second Pair Half-Off sale was back at Famous Footwear? And then did you see something shiny and forget to do it, and now you’re panicking about back-to-school shoes?
Yay you!
No, really—because if you shop now, you’ve got until August 21st not only to take advantage of the BOGO promotion, but also to use coupon code LOCKER for an additional 20% off on top of that! And shipping on 3+ pairs is always free.
So really, you were just being smart. Congratulations on being so awesome.
Yum yum, portable organics for baby
When my kids were babies/toddlers I made a lot of my own baby food, just because it’s really not that hard and it saves money. But I always had a little stash of store-bought baby food, anyway, because it was handy to have food in the diaper bag that was shelf-stable. Just in case.
If you do like I used to (or if you buy all ready-made baby food; I don’t judge), but you want to keep baby’s diet organic, check out these discounts on Earth’s Best jarred foods at Amazon:
1st Fruits Starter Kit for $6.79 on Subscribe and Save
2nd Fruits Starter Kit for $7.64 on Subscribe and Save
1st Veggies Starter Kit for $6.79 on Subscribe and Save
2nd Veggies Starter Kit for $7.64 on Subscribe and Save
It’s cheap, it’s delivered to your door for free, and it can be the difference between having something wholesome to feed Baby in a pinch vs. a screaming, hungry banshee (or a baby eating french fries).
And don’t even get me started on how when mine were babies you could only get the organics at the health food store for about $2/jar. From some woman who dressed in hemp and smelled of patchouli.
The under-budget way to Kohls
Yes, Kohls has sales and specials all the time, but today is a particularly good day to shop there, I swear. Let me count the ways:
1) $10 in Kohls Cash for every $50 you spend.
2) It’s the last day for free automatic shipping on $75+.
3) They’re having one day only “Under Budget” specials, just for today.
4) Today’s the last day to use code BACK2SAVE (with your Kohls charge card) to save 15% off your order.
I also like how the bargain items are things like back to school clothes and sheets for your dorm room… and also things like crock pots. Because you can’t go back to school without a shiny new slow cooker!
Back to school, back to free products
To celebrate the return to learning everywhere, Vistaprint has a fresh crop of free products for you, including photo calendars. I usually wait until the holidays to start making calendars for the grandparents, but then again, I usually scurry around to find a deal, by then.
As always, Vistaprint products are fully customizable, and there’s no “catch” here other than paying shipping charges (and probably their hope that you’ll upgrade and/or buy more product than you get on the free offer). I’m always happy with the quality of the items I get there, even when they’re the free ones.
I may get my kids some stickers, this time. Depends on how rotten they are this morning….
High-end camera bag, mid-range price
Been looking for a great camera bag for your SLR camera and lenses? My husband the photographer would scoff at a bag in any color other than black or khaki, but some people actually like color. Heh. And if you’re one of them, you might want to check out the discontinued colors of this Crumpler 6 Million Dollar Bag, currently marked down to $70 at eBags.
Personally, I think it’s adorable in either red or blue (the reduced colors), but to each their own.
Got ink (and toner)?
It’s easy enough to score a great deal on a printer, these days… the problem comes in when you go to buy ink cartridges, only to discover that the ink costs more than the machine did. Yikes.
Never fear! Office Depot may have the deal for you. Just visit their Ink Depot to find the right product, then stack a couple of coupons to make the price palatable.
First, code 374678967 takes 20% off all ink/toner purchases. Second, code 477200537 takes 10% off ink/toner. I’m not sure you’re supposed to be able to stack ’em, but right now it’s working.
Next day shipping is always free on your $50+ order, and if you’re buying ink, that shouldn’t be a hard threshold to reach….
Hey, I’m allowed, today
Usually I check out the daily deals at 6pm.com and let you know about them and then go on my merry way. (You didn’t think I was buying shoes every time my interest was piqued by a sale, did you? Hee.) But today I’m shopping.
They’ve got intimates on sale, like Natori and Betsey Johnson, and then there’s all those pretty shoes… Cole Haan and Circa Joan & David and Stuart Weitzman. And, well, today’s my birthday. So I’m going to do a little shopping. (And for the record, I plan to buy something I don’t need at all. But it will be very pretty.)
Hey, I give you permission to shop, too. At these prices, we don’t even have to feel guilty!
It’s all in the jeans
Need jeans? Right now if you buy a pair at Aeropostale, you get a pair free.
And that should make your favorite teen very happy, right up until the next time you ruin her life. (Sorry.)
Back to school Threadless cool
Be still my heart; just in time for back to school, Threadless went and marked their t-shirts down to just $10 apiece. Hooray! My kids love Threadless Ts.
My only quibble (are you listening, Threadless?) is that seem to have recently limited making the larger kids’ sizes. Now, their women’s shirts run a little small, so that’s not a huge deal for my daughter, but the gap between a Kids’ size 8 and a Mens’ X-Small is huge. My son is going to be sad, very soon, when he outgrows the last of his Threadless 12s (only a handful of designs still come in 10 and 12) and can still wear the Mens’ shirts as nightgowns. Alas.
Please note, too, that although Threadless has started expanding their Womens’ choices (tanks and boat necks and v-necks, oh my!), it’s only the conventional Ts that are marked down to $10 this time.
Double savings on New Balance
Do you dig New Balance sneakers? I pick them up on sale whenever I can, because I love the brand but am not going to pay regular retail prices….
Here’s the deal: Amazon is currently offering a wide selection of New Balance shoes which qualify for two different limited-time promotions. First, you’ll automatically save $20 on eligible back-to-school shoe purchases of $80+. Second, you’ll save 25% on your qualifying $100+ order!
Just check the “special offers” section of the item description to make sure it qualifies for both offers, and if it does, you’re in business. I tossed a $101 pair of sneakers in my cart to test it out, and sure enough, my order total was right around $56. Nice.
Sizes/colors vary, but if you get lucky on this one, I’d say it’s a very good day, indeed.
