Suit up

I’ve got another 2-day sale for you, though this one is just for the guys. Today and tomorrow, Jos. A. Bank is having a huge sale, and it’s the first of its kind. Now, I know what you’re thinking—they have sales all the time! And it’s true, they do, but usually it’s a buy one, get one sort of thing.

This time, all suits are 70% off. Period. Buy one or buy five; it doesn’t matter. Everything else is half off, and clearance items have been reduced an additional 50%. This is truly the time to shop for menswear and get the best deals.

Personally, I pink puffy heart JA Bank. There’s nothing quite like a man in a nice suit.

Have kit, will click

I know nothing about photography. This is because I’m married to a photographer, and I’m a big believer in playing to your strengths, in a relationship. If I leave the photography to him, everyone’s happy. (If I take my own pictures, he offers helpful criticism like, “You cut off the kids’ heads. Did you… do that on purpose?”)

Anyway, I share this because I saw today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal—a Kodak EasyShare Z915 10MP Digital Camera Kit—and immediately went to him to find out if this was a decent deal or not. I mean, it certainly looks like one; everything you need to start taking pictures, at under a hundred bucks, and decent reviews. But I figured I should consult the master.

He said (and I’m quoting here): “I don’t know anything about this particular camera, but Kodaks tend to be decent. For $100, it looks like a nice carry-around. And the 10x zoom is nice at that price point.” Translation: “For people who don’t have fancy cameras like mine, yes, that’s probably a good option.”

Make of this what you will. But for a fairly versatile point-and-shoot, cords, case, and rechargeable batteries, I’m thinking it’s a pretty good deal.

1 basket, 2 days, 3 stores

(I just looked at that title after I typed it, and it totally looks like it should be the beginning of a counting book for budding shoppers. The Want Not Board Book For Toddlers, perhaps. Ha. Start ’em young, people!)

Where was I? Oh, right! Okay, so, today and tomorrow (July 26th and 27th), you can totally clean up at the Gap family of stores. You already know you have a shared shopping basket whenever you hit Gap, Old Navy, or Banana Republic, right? Now you can stock up and save across all three—for these two days only, coupon code SAVE30 will take 30% off your combined $100+ purchase, no matter which of the three stores you’re shopping. (Do review the fine print for exclusions. It doesn’t cover kid/baby jeans or backpacks at Gap, or Everyday Steals and uniforms at Old Navy.)

This is the perfect excuse to, say, pick up school clothes for the kids and get a little something for yourself, or to grab some pants for the mister while scooping up a little cardigan you’ve been eyeing. Whatever. It can’t stay 99 degrees outside forever, you know, or at least that’s what I keep telling myself….

Time for back to school shoes!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year—nearly time to send the kids back to school in brand new sneakers. Aaahhhhhhh. (Okay, I know you northerners are thinking I’m jumping the gun. But we have only two weeks of summer left, so I swear this isn’t just wishful thinking on my part.)

It’s a great time to shop at Famous Footwear; they’ve brought their buy one pair, get the second half-off promotion back, and furthermore, this week you can use coupon code SCHOOL1 to take 20% off your purchase, besides.

Buy three or more pairs and your whole order will ship for free. Which—combined with the buy one, get one half off promo—is practically a divine sign that you should go ahead and get four pairs. Get a little something for you while you shop for the kids… or buy this size and the next size up. You know they’ll need it before you know it, anyway.

Sunday only

it just so happens that today there are a whole bunch of today-only sales going on that you might want to know about. And I’m here to help, of course.

Little Tikes is having a one-day sale today, with all sorts of slashed prices on big plastic things.

Today’s the last day of the recent home sale savings at Macy’s, complete with extra bonus savings that are valid today only.

Did you really miss the Friday-only and Saturday-only coupons for Children’s Place?? That’s okay, but today is the absolute last one-day coupon they’re offering, so don’t wait! Today you can use code SUNDAY15 for 15% off your $40+ order.

Today’s the last day to save on adult-only clothing purchases at Old Navy; use coupon code ONADULT30 for 30% off clothes just for you.

Also, if you’ve been waiting for Converse to go on special at 6pm.com again, today’s your day! Both kids’ and adults’ styles are marked down.

Not bad for a Sunday, right?

Saturday deals

Happy Saturday! I may have made my way through the giant laundry pile, finally. Next up: actually buying groceries. I am a machine, I tell you. But don’t bother ogling my post-vacation skills, go nab one of these online deals, instead.

Christmas in July continues at Toys ‘R’ Us, and today I’m thinking these Power Wheels Sport Quads for boys of for girls for $60 shipped are looking like a pretty sweet gift for the little speed demon(s) in your life.

It’s Friends and Family time at Disney Store—use code DISNEYFAN this weekend to take 20% off your order.

You’ve got the weekend to shop the clothing clearance at Amazon and save an additional 20%, automatically.( I have picked up some really cute items this way; if you have the time to wade through the selections, you might find something awesome.)

Did you miss yesterday’s 1-day coupon at Children’s Place? Don’t worry! They’ve got another 1-day code for you to use, today—just use SATURDAY20 to save 20% on your $50+ order, all day long.

It’s Restaurant.com time, again—through the end of the month, use code PLATE for 80% off your purchase, netting you $25 worth of dining for a cool $2 out-of-pocket. But hey, if you don’t need $23? Feel free to skip this one. Or send your extra money to me.

We’ll have a little contest this afternoon, I think. Back in a bit!

Welcome home, Friday!

Yesterday we drove all day, arriving home in the evening, whereupon—being the responsible adult I am—I promptly recovered from our camping trip by watching several hours of television. I guess maybe today I’ll do the laundry. But later, because there’s a ton of deals ’round the web, today.

Target doesn’t think you should have to wait until November for Black Friday; in fact, they think having Black Friday today is a fine idea, so that’s what they’re doing. Check out a bevy of online-only deals sure to get your shopping sense tingling. (Tons of electronics, and two pages of rainboots… is Target trying to tell us something?)

Not one to be left out, drugstore.com is having Black Friday in July as well, with special savings and a today-only $5 off $25+ coupon—just use BFJULY at checkout.

There’s clearance as well as a stock-up-and-save sale going on over at Children’s Place, and today only you can use coupon code FRIDAY25 to take 25% off your $75+ order. Get your back-to-school shopping done and save a bundle.

Amazon’s Gold Box Deal today is slashed prices on ThinkThin bars, which actually aren’t bad for a quick something you can throw in your purse and take on the run, or whatever. Do note that the special price is $12 for a pack of 10, but if you buy via Subscribe & Save the price drops to $10.20 and you get free shipping, so definitely do that if you’re buying. (You can cancel your subscription any time after your order ships.)

Today’s featured deal at 6pm.com is on Calvin Klein, and it’s not just shoes. Get lingerie, a purse, fragrance… they’ve got a huge array of stuff, though I’ve got my eye on some boots, because apparently 101+ degree temperatures make me dream of Fall.

Let me start a load of laundry or twelve and then I’ll be back. I owe you a contest winner and maybe some other stuff. I think. I may have left my brain at the campground….

Travel with animals

I think all parents know that traveling with kids is really like hitting the road with wild animals in tow. (I should know. We are on our way back from camping right now and I really thought the kids were going to come to blows in the backseat over the bag of baby carrots. Truly, we had a great time, but I am ready for a little less family togetherness.)

Anyway, as long as traveling with kids is like having animals along, why not have some animals to pack their stuff in? The last time these animal suitcase pairs were on special at Buy.com, they were very popular, and why not? Choose from penguin or tiger, both around $30 shipped, and get a rolling suitcase and a coordinating backpack suitable for all of your little animal’s traveling needs.

They’re probably not big enough to put your kids inside, but that’s probably not a good idea, anyway.

Home haircuts made easy

I know I’ve sung the praises of home haircuts here before—personally, I find cutting everyone else’s hair in the family a great excuse for my rare but unfortunately all-too-expensive salon visits—but the most common objection I hear is “but I don’t know how.”

Look, I can’t even cut paper in a straight line, and I can do it. There are videos on YouTube and practice makes perfect and little kids are generally pretty forgiving. But if you’re still worried, check out today’s featured Daily Deal at Target. It’s a Philips Norelco kids’ clipper set for $20 shipped, including everything you need for easy kids’ haircuts. (For comparison: It’s currently $40 direct from Amazon, but get a load of all those positive reviews!) There’s scissors, a cape, a case for everything, and even an instructional DVD! Plus, these are the quietest clippers they make, so they’re gentle on even the littlest heads.

Use coupon code TOEY738U for an additional 10% off, too.
