Eat out, save money
Is it time for another Restaurant.com code? Why yes, it is!
You know the drill: Great local restaurants offer dining certificates at reduced prices, and when you add a coupon to the mix, it’s time to eat fancy at fast food prices. So right now you can use coupon code FUN for 80% off, rendering $25 dining certificates just $2! You probably have that sitting at the bottom of your Paypal account from that thing you sold on eBay three years ago, dude. Why wouldn’t you want to save $23 and justify a night on the town?
Sometimes I tell you to use the savings for a babysitter, but today I’m in a wild and crazy mood: Use the extra for dessert.
Your last day to save 20%
I know I posted this one a few times before, but one final friendly reminder—today is the last day to take 20% off any order at Oneida with coupon code JULY4. If you’ve been eyeing some silverware or dishes and have been on the fence, today’s the day to hop off.
Alternatively, go into your kitchen and repeat after me: I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and doggone it, these kitchenwares are just fine.
Either way.
One last chance to save big in 2010
Maybe you hemmed and hawed and ultimately decided—for whatever reason—not to get an Entertainment Book this year, even though you knew it was full of money-saving coupons on nearly everything you might want to spend money on in your area. Hey, I understand; my local book (Atlanta) is huge and normally retails for $35, so I can see where, savings aside, you might pause.
But I have great news: Yes, the year’s half over, but there’s still plenty of time to enjoy the savings, and this week only all 2010 Entertainment Books are just $7.99 apiece. This is a great way to try one out, if you’ve never used one before. Or to get some more coupons if you’ve used so many of the ones in your current book! Either way.
Trust me when I tell you they have coupons for everything. Food. Dry cleaning. Hotels. Movies. Car rentals. All kinds of services. Tons of retail stores. You name it, it’s in there. For $8 you can hardly go wrong.
Back-to-school cuteness
I know that for most of you, back-to-school time still seems impossibly far away, but my kids are back to the grind in about a month, so it’s on my mind.
Which is why I walked right into their little trap, the one that Hanna Andersson sets for me when they have their limited-time Pre-Season School Deals Sale. Oh, the cuteness! My eyes! Must… not… buy… everything….
I love me some Hanna, it’s true. And yes, even their sale prices are well above what you’ll spend at Children’s Place or Old Navy, but this stuff will hold up to anything your kids can dish out, and then you can pass it down to the next kid (and the next kid and the next kid) and then recoup most of your money on eBay.
I strongly suspect that Hannas are made of Swedish titanium.
How ’bout a little Kohls?
It seems like ages since I shopped at Kohls, which—in reality—probably means I haven’t clicked over there in a week or so. Heh. Right now they’re offering $.99 shipping on every item, which means it’s a great time to pick up something heavy (lots of cookware sets are marked down), or just one or two things, but probably a bad time to buy socks.
Code NEW4298 should give everyone an additional 10% off, though I haven’t gotten a recent Kohls card code. Will add it in if they send it along.
Happy Kohling!
Don’t forget to Get More!
Have a Discover credit card? Don’t forget to sign up for this quarter’s chance to Get More—from July to September, you can increase your cashback bonus on purchases at gas stations, hotels, movie theaters, and theme parks to 5%. Sure, it’s only good on the first $300 (I don’t know about you, but we’ll spend that the first time we go on vacation), but free money is free money.
Whenever I post these, I tend to get tsk-tsked by a cash-only type wanting to warn me of the evils of credit cards, but I maintain that having/using one credit card that gives rewards—and paying it off every month, of course—is a fantastic way to stay on top of your finances and not have to carry around large amounts of cash. To each their own, of course, but I do pink puffy heart Discover.
A cheaper way to flip
You’ve heard me sing the praises of the Flip camcorder before, so I’m not going to bore you again. It’s small! It’s simple to use! It’s relatively inexpensive! You know the drill.
But what if you have a kid who wants their own camera? I don’t know about you, but I am not handing the same creature who sometimes forgets to put on pants my beloved camcorder, nor am I spending another $100+ to get him his own when I may well find it in the pool one day.
Right now Buy.com has a refurbished 120-minute Flip Ultra available for just $60 shipped. No, it’s not the HD kind, but if money is tight (and/or the recipient is a minor), I daresay that for $60 it’ll do the job. You get a genuine Flip without the fancy price tag, and your kid gets to feel a little more grown-up.
Good luck with the pants thing, though. I can’t help you there.
Get your fun on, all year
Been thinking about subscribing to Family Fun? Even now with my kids being a little older, I still subscribe religiously; they have great recipes and easy craft projects, and my kids will often leaf through and pick something to do all on their own.
Still, you know me—I’m not going to pay a lot for a magazine, no matter how much I like it. Obviously.
So I’m doing this year’s renewal through today’s Daily Deals at Barnes & Noble, because right now, a year of Family Fun will cost you just a cool $5. Skip one latte and you’ve got a year of ideas to keep your family busy, well-fed, and entertained. Not bad.
Buying something else at Barnes & Noble? Through July 6th, you can use coupon code W9C9U3F for 20% off one item, too. (It doesn’t work on digital content or magazines.) Limit one use per person, so make it count.
Your lips will love it
Every now and then, they try to go all thematic on the Target Daily Deals and do four items that go together. They didn’t quite do that, today, but they came close—their featured item is a decent deal on a wok set (designed to produce food to make your mouth happy), and the last item in the supporting deals is a Burt’s Bees lip balm set (designed to keep your lips happy). So I kind of see where they were going, there.
Or maybe that was completely accidental. But they’re still nice free-shipping deals to wake up to on a Monday, y’know?
Saturday deals
Happy holiday weekend! Here’s to fireworks, good food, excellent company, and a celebration of not having funny accents. Or something.
My exciting plans for the day include grocery shopping and… um… yeah, that’s about it. But here’s some ideas if you’re in a bargain-hunting mood.
Weekend sales abound: It’s the Star-Spangled Sale at Old Navy, the 4th of July Monster Sale at Children’s Place (don’t forget code JULY4TH for 20% off your $50+ order), holiday savings for the weekend at Toys ‘R’ Us, extra Big Steals at Meijer (remember, those all ship for free), the holiday-themed one-day-but-really-all-weekend-sale at Macy’s, and the big 4th of July Event at Bare Necessities, just to name a few.
And if you have a teenage girl, you may or may not want to know that one of the weekend discounts at 6pm.com is slashed prices on a wide variety of Uggs. (I’m sorry. Or you’re welcome. Whichever you need.)
If you plan to celebrate the holiday by paper-crafting, don’t miss today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal—it’s a Cuttlebug embossing and die-cutting machine at a deep discount.
And now, I believe it’s my patriotic duty to see if I can figure out a gluten-free pie crust. For the country, you understand. Have a great weekend!
