Protecting your precious laptop

[As a quick aside: I have been seriously lacking, lately, on getting to questions that folks have mailed in. I have no excuse other than that I’m a terrible human being and also I’ve been sick and/or traveling more often than not, lately. I intend to mend my slacking ways. Honest!]

Love Want Not, and am hoping you’ll have a definitive answer for my burning question.

What bag/case/sleeve do I buy to protect my brand-new, precious 15″ Macbook Pro???? For reference sake, when it’s not clutched firmly in my maybe-a-little-protective hands, it lives on my desk. I need to carry it away from the house rarely (sadly, because I really would like to have it with me all.the.time). I am leaving on a two week long vacation, by automobile, soonish, and will take it with me provided I find a suitable receptacle.

Would prefer something under $40 and am a sucker for free shipping.

Kim, this is actually a very easy one. Step into my office, won’t you…? read more…

If she’s been good

My own darling daughter has been completely rotten, lately, but I’m sure yours is just an angel. In fact, she’s probably been so good that you’re willing to go buy her something trendy and overpriced at Justice, because that’s just how hip and cool of a mom you are.

Of course, you’d never pay full price there, natch. Nope, you’ll use coupon code 803 for 40% off your order, because that’s just how you roll. There’s a slew of summer stuff in the sale section already, by the way—cheap shorts and Ts, as well as some discounts on bathing suits. You can make her happy and stay on budget, but if you don’t want to tell her about the coupon, don’t worry about it. Your secret’s safe with me.

[Please note: Every single time I post a Justice code, someone complains that it’s not working because they put the code into the “Justice Membership” box instead of the “Coupon” box. You want the second entry field, the one highlighted in purple, for the coupon.]

Checking in on the dealiciousness

I feel like I’m emerging from a thick fog; the week of being on vacation and then the following week of being sick (of course) have made my reentry into the real world a bit, ah, difficult. I think I’m finally back, though. Maybe. Let me finish this cup of coffee….

Hit any awesome deals while I’ve been trying to get my bearings? My Allure Box came this weekend, and although I’m sometimes a little disappointed, I think this was a really good one. (Note to self: Hide Stila lipglosses from grabby tween.)

Yesterday I had a rare day of alone time with no immediate looming deadlines, so I went thrifting. I’d hoped to find something fabulous for me, but that’s not how the day went. Alas. However, for about $20 I picked up a couple pairs of shorts and four pairs of uniform pants for my kids (including a tags-on brand new pair of $100 corduroys from J. Crew!), so it’s hard to complain.

What’s your greatest recent deal, my pretties?

And a little something for you

I know a lot of us are focusing on the men today (as it should be—a very happy Father’s Day to all the great men out there who’ve ever done the paternal role with love), but does that mean you can’t find a great little deal for yourself, too? Of course not.

So just in case you’ve got a spare few minutes and a hole in your wardrobe, check this out: Through June 24th, 2010, shop at Chadwick’s and you can use coupon code CHFORYOU15 for $15 off $15+! Shipping starts at $6.99, but play it right and this could equal huge savings. (I’ve been playing around with it and it seems not to work if you have nothing but clearance items in your cart. But there are quite a few “buy more and save” items where they’re on sale and additional money is taken off when you buy more than one, and it works on those just fine.)

And that, of course, would make for an even happier Father’s Day. So there you go.

Saturday deals

Good morning! If you’re still searching for a Father’s Day gift, I suspect you’re going to have to hit the dreaded mall today. But for the rest of us—shopping at our leisure, let’s say—maybe there are some online delights to check out….

Amazon currently has 50 Blu-rays for under $10, many of which are movies you’ve actually, you know, heard of.

Also at Amazon, check out their current promotion on Pampers and Luvs products: many are already marked down, and buying via Subscribe & Save gets you 15% off and free shipping, plus coupon code PMPLUVJN gives you another 15% off, for a total savings of 30%. This is a great way to stock up on a cheap (not to mention not having to lug home cases of diapers).

Macy’s is claiming that today’s One Day Sale (which is actually a 2 day sale; don’t get me started) has the lowest prices of the season. True or not, I do love a good sale at Macy’s. And if you’re picking up something from someone’s wedding registry there, coupon code WITHLOVE will take $20 off your $100+ purchase through the end of the month.

Does Dad want something sporty from Eastbay? This weekend you can use coupon code LKS1T669 to take $15 off $89+. And then I guess you can give Dad a picture of his gift while you wait for it to arrive.

Have a great day, everyone, and remember—friends don’t let friends pay full price.

There’s no place like Friday

I can’t even tell you how happy I am to be home this Friday. It’s been a looooong few weeks away.

Let’s see what Friday has to offer, shall we?

Over at 6pm.com I see two notables in today’s deals, namely, up to 70% off Columbia, and up to 75% off gladiator sandals (a.k.a., the weirdest style trend that simply refuses to die). There’s lots of other stuff, too, of course.

The Amazon Friday Sale is still limping along; I’m not seeing a whole lot there, but if you need a ceiling fan, they have a whole bunch available today.

Need to buy some clothing items for the smallest drawers of your dresser? (Look at me, being all delicate and subtle and stuff.) Right now the Friends and Family event is on at Bare Necessities, and using code FRIEND will take 25% off your entire purchase (some exclusions apply). This is a good time to stock up on bras, because those suckers are expensive.

The Ultimate Summer Sale is on at Eddie Bauer, and although I’ve always loved them, recently I discovered my devotion has been renewed. And it has nothing to do with the fact that apparently I wear a size smaller there than anywhere else. Ahem. Nevertheless, tanks and t-shirts are just $10 each, plus plenty of other deals, so it’s worth checking out.

I’ve been in bed for a couple of days, but today I think I’m going to get up and attempt a shower. You’re welcome! I share because I care.

You know the drill

Want another big sale? Why not! Right now the semi-annual big sale is going on over at Disney Store, and that means it’s a great time to buy all the little tchotchkes you might want for that future Disney Parks vacation, so that you can save yourself from the in-park prices while you’re there.

Even better, your entire order ships for free with the purchase of any Toy Story item and code TOYSTORY. (Am I the only one who’s excited about the new Toy Story movie coming out…?)

Banish the rainy day blues

Summer vacation staring you down? You’ll be ready. Especially if you go peruse the selection of summer games Amazon has rounded up; many of them are ones we take camping (and my daughter will regularly beg to play rather than just enjoying the outdoors).

It may not stop the perennial complaints of “He’s touching me!” and “She’s looking at me!”, but still. It might help.

Look cool and help the Gulf

I have completely stopped watching the news, because I find it entirely too depressing to hear every day about how the oil spill is still a disaster. (Allow me to comment on that the way my kids would: “Duh.”)

But how much do I love Threadless for coming up with this peliCAN tee to benefit the Gulf Restoration Network? So, so much.

It’s just $10. And a tiny way to help. But it sure beats watching the news.
