Who says 13 is unlucky?
(Certainly not me. 13 has always been my lucky number!)
If you visit Lands’ End today, it looks like you can save 30% on pants, shorts, and capris. But actually, I’m going to make it even better—today (May 13th, 2010) only, shop pants, shorts, and capris and then use code MAY13T and PIN 3456 to save 40%, and get free shipping, to boot.
It won’t take the discount on items that aren’t regularly-priced pants, capris, or shorts (pretty sure it won’t work on Overstocks, for example), but if you buy something eligible and then throw something else in your cart, you’ll get free shipping on the whole shebang. If, indeed, Lands’ End sells shebangs.
Cut it yourself
I’m sure I’ve gone through my standard song and dance here about how cutting hair is really not very hard, and there are lots of good and frugal reasons to learn how, particularly if you have kids and/or a spouse/partner. Heck, I learned how to do it way before you could just look up how-to videos on YouTube, so seriously, you can learn. I promise.
I currently own the several-prior-generations version of this Wahl deluxe clipper set, and it has lasted me through many, many years of home haircuts. I can think of nothing I’d like to do less than plunk down $15+ to have someone cut my son’s hair, particularly when I’d basically paid for the clippers within two haircuts. Right now you can snag that set for under $33, which is a steal.
Not convinced? Think of it this way: With all the money I’ve saved cutting my kids’ and my husband’s hair, I don’t have to feel bad about going to the salon to have my hair done. And that’s the real reason I do it. Heh.
Why yes, I actually do think in Geek
I’m just going to say it: I pink puffy heart ThinkGeek. I love everything about them, from their wacky t-shirts to gadgets no one needs (but I still really, really want). Also, they have a sense of humor. Gotta love that, right?
Today and tomorrow (through May 14th, 2010), take $10 off your $30+ purchase there with coupon code MONKEYWISH. Because… well, even monkeys like discounts on cool stuff. I presume. (Know who else likes their stuff? Dads! Don’t make me remind you about Father’s Day again.)
Bananas not included. Probably.
This one really is about baking
Yesterday when I posted the Corel Design Studio software under the title of “make it, mix it, burn it,” longtime Want Not reader Liz commented on the Facebook page (you are following Want Not on Facebook, right?) that she’d thought it was a deal on cake mixes. She made me giggle. So Liz, this is for you—in today’s Target Daily Deals the featured deal is a 10-piece silicone baking set, suitable for burning making cakes or whatever. It’s down to $38 with free shipping, and using coupon code TGTREACT will give you another 15% off, too, making it just $32 and change.
Other deals include some yoga pants, a 7″ digital photo frame (Father’s Day, anyone?), a dresser, and some Bakugan thing I had to hide really quickly before my son walked into my office. So.
Make it, mix it, burn it
If you’re not a Mac person, you may be looking for some software to do photo, video, and music editing. (That all comes with your Mac, by the way. Just sayin’.)
So you might want to check out the current Amazon Lightning Deal, which is Corel Digital Studio 2010 for just $30 shipped. Looks like the next lowest price anywhere is twice that, so the price is certainly right.
Sale into Summer
Another sale at Kohls? I don’t mind if I do.
So here’s the breakdown: Starting today, the first big summer sale is on, and that means bonus buys and other markdowns, plus free shipping on $75+, plus $10 Kohls Cash for every $50 you spend, plus there’s coupons! (Phew. I feel like I should be offering you a free set of Ginsu knives, with all of that.)
If you have a Kohls charge card, you may have gotten a code in the mail for up to 30% off, but I’m only allowed to share the 15% off code, which is SAVEINMAY. No Kohls card? Code THANKS1498 should give you either 10% or 15% extra off, anyway.
Go forth and Kohls, people.
A little something extra
Had your eye on something over at Piperlime? Today (or tomorrow) is the day to buy—for May 12th and 13th, every item that’s already on sale is eligible for another 10% reduction via coupon code EXTRA10!
Oh, they have a lot of stuff on sale. And free shipping and free returns, too. Which means this could be dangerous….
Summer Style, one day only
Today (May 12th, 2010) they’re having a one-day Summer Style Event over at Banana Republic; select men’s chinos are just $35 and all women’s dresses are just $98 or less. No code needed! Prices will change in your cart to reflect the discount.
Not exactly bargain-basement prices, sure, but a welcome discount if you’ve had your eye on one particular dream outfit, or something. The thing I like about Banana Republic—aside from the fact that their stuff is pretty, of course—is that their sizing was clearly determined by crack-addled space monkeys. I’m two sizes smaller there than I am anywhere else. (As I always say, at least expensive clothes make you feel skinny!)
Gluten-free? Rejoice!
I’ve now been gluten-free for about a year (hard to believe it’s been that long!), and I feel so much better. I love how giving up gluten is one of those things where you don’t know how crummy you felt until you stopped feeling so crummy. Heh.
If you are still happily eating gluten, congratulations, and please go have a big slab of cake on my behalf. (No, really. Today’s my anniversary! Eat cake!) But if you, or someone you love, is currently eating gluten-free, you might want to bop on over to Amazon; in celebration of May being Celiac Awareness Month, they’ve got a slew of gluten-free grocery specials to celebrate. Some of my very favorite products are on sale!
For example: This 6-pack of Pamela’s Baking Mix (which is, in my opinion, the only gluten-free all-purpose baking mix worth buying) is already marked down 31%, then you can save 10% more with coupon code PMLAI822, and save 15% on top of that and get free shipping when you buy via Subscribe & Save. The total cost ends up being $3.81/bag; at my local supermarket it costs around $7/bag.
It’s a good day to be gluten-free, is my point.
Your outlet for all things sports
My children… do not play sports. I do not play sports. We are not sporty. Alas! I mean, don’t get me wrong—we did the mandatory tours of youth soccer and such. And we get exercise and fresh air sometimes. But I don’t know all that much about sports equipment and endless days spent at the ball fields and such.
All of this is to say: When it comes to sporting equipment, I can pretty much only spot the price markdowns. Heh. And I’ve been directing you to Eastbay for years for various gear, but I only just now figured out that they have an entirely separate site for outlet items. Did you know this? Do they tell you when you sign up for Little League? I have no idea. But here it is: Over at Final Score they have all the stuff Eastbay has marked down.
Pretty sweet, right? Here, let me make it even better: Through May 16th, 2010, use coupon code LKS1T556 to take 20% off your $50+ purchase. You could get everything all your sporty family members need for way less than you’d pay elsewhere, so you can be both fit and frugal. Yay you!
