Knife, knife baby
The current Amazon Lightning Deal is a sweet block of Wusthof kitchen knives for nearly 70% off. A great one to jump on if you’re in the market for sharp blades.
For cooking, people. If you need them for something else, I don’t want to know.
My kind of sale
Does your man’s wardrobe get you down? Are you constantly wondering where in the world he got that brownish shirt with the strange collar? And trying to convince him that once you can see a mark from his wallet on the outside of the pants pocket, it’s time for new pants? Then this sale is for you!
(Not that that’s ever happened to any of us here. Our husbands are awesome and stellar dressers. We love you, guys!) (Okay, is he gone? Keep reading.)
Today (Wednesday, February 24th, 2010) only, Jos. A. Bank is having their Buy 1 Get 4 Free Sale. You read that right—buy one blazer or sportcoat, get two pairs of pants and two of their premium sportshirts for free. Plus shipping is automatically free on orders of $175+.
Jos. A. Bank is my favorite men’s clothier; their quality is incredible, and although their regular prices make me blanch, they have great sales and deals like this make it easy to restock your favorite guy’s wardrobe without breaking the bank.
And after his new stuff comes, those other items can just… you know… disappear in the laundry or something. Shhhh.
Hanna, you vixen
I’m a fool for Hanna Andersson, I admit it. There was a time when my kids were smaller that I would religiously stalk Hannas on eBay, securing the cutest Swedish clothing I could afford, making my children adorable for a couple of years, and then reselling those clothes for the same price I paid, because “Swedish cotton” apparently means “imbued with black magic that prevents any signs of wear.” I just flat-out love their clothing.
So when a sale comes around, I still get a little excited. Through the end of February, the Spring Sale is offering markdowns on even their newest merchandise, plus underthings are on sale, plus their “very güd price” items are a new line of value-priced Hannas you might be able to afford even though they’re not on sale. And to top it all off, until the end of the month, orders of $100+ ship for free. That makes it dangerously easy to justify that sweater you’ve been eyeing for yourself, too.
Feeling Woot-y
More shoes I’m probably not buying
If you can’t find what you need at 6pm today (can you imagine? but sometimes it happens), you may also want to check out the Last Chance Designer Sale they’re having at Amazon—many shoes are up to 85% off!
Not that I’m shopping. But there could be someone barefoot out there in desperate need, and I live to serve. So there you go.
Green earbuds and ham
I totally lied to you, already. This post contains no ham. I’m sorry.
Need a cheapie pair of backup earbuds, or a pair or three for the kids? Check out this set of green Jensen earbuds at Amazon—if you look in the “More Buying Choices” column down on the right, you’ll see that buying them directly from Amazon costs just $2.96, and they’re eligible for Prime or Free Super Saver Shipping.
This is a $15-$20 pair, usually, so they should be decent. Really, for $3, it’s hard to argue. Even if they don’t come with ham.
I am not buying shoes today
I feel like that should be the first line of a Shel Silverstein poem. “I am not buying shoes today / Said little Peggy Ann McKay. / I have plenty / More than enough / But these are pretty, and also tough.”
Or something. Look, I never said I was a poet.
Anyway, you know I cannot resist the siren song of 6pm.com, especially when I can pretend say I’m shopping for the kids. Heelys are under $15 today, and if a pair of deeply-discounted Anne Klein shoes just happen to fall into my cart while I’m looking at those, well, who could blame me?
Stop looking at me like that.
Boom boom iPod
I’ve been shopping around for one of those all-in-one iPod dock thingies, you know, a combination alarm clock/radio/speakers kind of thing, so that 1) my tween might actually wake up on time occasionally and 2) she might sometimes take the earphones off so that she can hear me. I know, they’re probably both pipe dreams.
Regardless, I find myself rather enchanted with this Pixxo MiniBooMX 2.1 Audio System available today at Buy.com for just $30 shipped, because it’s not only all of those things, let’s face it: It’s adorable. It’s a tiny widdle boom box! I just want to hug it and squeeze it and call it George.
It’s possible I’ve had just a touch too much coffee, but still. It’s quite a deal. (Just for reference: This was a previous Meijer Daily Steal at $50. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather pay $30 than $50!)
Your pancakes are up
Have a local IHOP? (Find out here.) Today is National Pancake Day, which means that IHOP is offering free short stacks from 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. Now, it’s a fundraiser for the Children’s Miracle Network—a worthy cause, I think you’ll agree—so don’t just eat your free pancakes and bolt, but still, it’s kind of a fun way to break up the week, eat something yummy, and make a donation to a great organization.
Stock the gift closet with cooking hints
Nothing says “I love you, but your cooking leaves something to be desired” like a cookbook, right? I mean, I love getting cookbooks. And I love giving them. But it just occurred to me that it may be kind of a touchy subtext depending on to whom you’re giving it.
Anyway, that won’t stop me from stocking up my gift closet during the current Taste of Home $5 cookbook sale, because, come on $5 cookbooks. Good $5 cookbooks. (Edited to add: Shipping is free on $20+!) I can’t turn that down. So let’s just assume that when I give these out I’m just being an enthusiastic cook and avid bargainhound, not that I think your cooking stinks.
Okay? Okay!
