Their name makes me laugh
I’ve never actually been to a Hobby Lobby, and that may be because I’m not a crafty sort, or it may be because I cannot say “Hobby Lobby” without pretty much saying it over and over and giggling.
(Sometimes it doesn’t take much to amuse me.)
Anyway, if you want to hit Hobby Lobby (Hobby Lobby Hobby Lobby heehee) today, you should go ahead and print out this coupon for 40% off any one regular-price item, this week.
My personal challenge to you: Use it to buy something that rhymes!
Blu-ray-riffic
Did you get a fancy new Blu-ray player for the holidays? We did, and it’s awesome except that we don’t own any Blu-ray movies.
Um. Oops?
Well, never fear—right now Amazon is offering hundreds of Blu-ray movies at a discount, many for as little as $7. Shipping is free with Prime or on $25+ with Super Saver Shipping.
(I think I’m going to need to move my elliptical out into the family room, right in front of the TV, lest I spend the new year mostly on my behind on the couch.)
Saturday deals
Sorry for the delay this morning; first I slept late, then I worked out, then I had to sit very still and recover from working out. This whole “less sloth in 2010” thing involves a lot more pain than I’d anticipated….
Anyway, it’s a beautiful day here, today, and if it is where you are, too, I suggest a long walk. But if the weather outside is frightful and you need a little retail therapy, we can do that, too.
The Amazon Gold Box holds the entire series of Northern Exposure for $75, today. How’s that for a blast from the past?
It’s the last few days of the Macy’s New Year’s Sale, so get on it there for deals on just about everything if you’re interested. (I almost typoed that to “interesting,” which would’ve been funny. Shop Macy’s if you’re interesting!)
The end-of-year blowout sale at Sierra Trading Post means savings of up to 90% off, plus you have a few more days to use coupon code ALDECEMBER9 for 20% off your $100+ order.
The Target Daily Deals include scrapbooking accessories, a camera, a frying pan, a mouse, and more. I think it was Colonel Mustard in the kitchen with a rotary wheel, by the way.
6pm.com has $15 Pro Keds this weekend, as well as a slew of other deals—why hello there, 70% off Clarks shoes. How you doin’?
I’m off to do some Saturday-type things, assuming that I’m able to get out of this chair again. Ahem.
Should auld acquaintance have a Friday Sale?
Well, whether it should or not, here we are: Happy 2010, and it seems fitting to kick off the new year with an Amazon Friday Sale, no?
Nothing says “this is going to be our best year ever” like a two-pack of brown Snuggie imitations, am I right? Stay warm in 2010; that’s my motto!
That awesome 10-piece Earth Pan set is back again ($115), probably because my other motto is “don’t eat Teflon.” I mean, I’m just guessing. (If you prefer to eschew the whole non-stick thing, check out this KitchenAid 10-piece brushed stainless set for the same price; great reviews.)
Aaaaaand… okay, the Friday Sale is boring me this week. Sigh.
If you’re a Scrapper (not to be confusing with “being scrappy”), you might be interested in today’s Gold Box Deal: A Cricut along with all the YourStory binder/laminator. Being craftily impaired I only sort of understand what these things do, but I’ve been led to believe that it’s something good.
The year-end Lightning Deals in Toys are still going on (even though I’m pretty sure the year ended…), so those might be worth watching throughout the day.
And right now there’s over 800 MP3 albums for just $5 each, so today might be a good day to fill up that new iPod Santa brought you. Just a friendly suggestion.
Today is the last “day of joy” over at 6pm.com, so I’ll peek over there at 9:00 Eastern to see if it’s something spectacular, like it was on the first day. (I hope it’s a pony. Preferably one that poops glitter. For $5.)
And amongst the Target Daily Deals is the complete Futurama series for under $100, and it comes in—wait for it—Bender’s head. Yes. I kind of love that. (Don’t forget to click through this link right here to activate a $5 off $50+ coupon for Target before you check out!)
2010 is going to be a very good year, I suspect. Have a great day, everyone!
I know, I know
It seems silly to even imagine that you could possibly need more clearance toys after the madness at Amazon this month, but far be it from me to judge. Who knows. And just in case your gift closet still has a few holes, well, Target has just marked down a slew of toys, and maybe there’s something in there you need.
You’ll end up paying shipping, of course, but just in case there’s something in there you have to have (that’s 75% off!), I thought it was worth mentioning.
A little bit of fancy
I suspect I’m not actually hip enough to wear clothes from Banana Republic, and I know I’m not wealthy enough to shop their regular prices (ahem), but the winter sale is on right now so we’re going to overlook that first item.
Want to save enough more? Coupon code BREXTRA20 will take an extra 20% off the already-reduced sale prices. Score!
(Also: Am I the only one who cannot even browse the BR sight without hearing “The urban sombrero” and related Seinfeld mockery in my head? Okay, just me, then? Carry on.)
A little New Year’s gift for you
Hey, remember how we all got a free Amazon Prime trial a while back, and have been enjoying frenetic holiday shopping with all the benefits of free shipping, ever since?
Well, that trial is going to expire on January 15th, assuming y’all signed up the same day I did. Just two weeks left to enjoy it. So sad.
Except it’s not sad, because I have great news: Traditionally, Amazon Prime trials have only been open to customers who’ve never had them before. However, right now you can sign up for another 3-month trial, even if you’ve had it before. (Thanks, Corey, for giving me the heads up!)
Now, you cannot renew an existing Prime membership, nor do I know how long this particular offer will last, so here in the age of umpteen million email addresses, I’ll just suggest you go ahead and sign up with an address other than the one that currently has 2 weeks left on its membership. (And let’s face it; most of us had to use an alternate address for the current trial, on account of we’d had free Prime last year and weren’t eligible on that address again.)
Got all that? Good. Here’s what you do:
1) Go add this book to your cart (using the account you want to sign up with). Don’t worry, you’re not buying it.
2) Go to checkout and find the big “Get it with two-day shipping and a free trial of Amazon Prime” offer, and click that.
3) Sign up for Prime as directed.
4) Don’t complete checkout, unless you really need another copy of Pride and Prejudice.
Voila, three more months of Prime for free. Don’t forget to go into “My Account” and then “Manage Prime Membership” to turn off the auto-renew so that you won’t be charged in three months, too.
Enjoy!
Do the dailies
I have to go tend to some Very Important Things today, by which I of course mean that I am going to step foot in a store (in the name of good clearance) for the first time since well before Thanksgiving. Please pray for me.
While I’m gone, here’s some daily deals for you:
The $7 Polliwalks are back at 6pm.com, not to mention that their “36 Days of Joy” deal is an adorable women’s blazer I may have to have. There’s plenty of other deals to be had there, too, of course.
The Target Daily Deals include a shoe shine kit for $10, which is the sort of thing I always wonder why we don’t have, but I never think to buy. Huh.
I always see fruit scoops at the store and think they’re adorable and then I never buy them because they seem overpriced. Well, today at Graveyard Mall you can get a set of three for $1.99 shipped—they’re offering free shipping on the fruit scoops only, so I’m guessing they have an entire warehouse of them. Whatever; it’s three fun kitchen gadgets (dare I mention, these would be good stocking stuffers for next year…?) for under $2.
And last but certainly not least, Amazon’s Gold Box Deal today is a Duracell power inverter/air compressor combo for half off. Of course the Lightning Deals in Toys are still going strong, so there’s a few things to watch over there, too.
That should keep you busy for a little while, right? Enjoy!
Use the force (of cheapness)
Been looking for a deal on the Star Wars prequel films? No problem! Right now Amazon has the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy available on DVD for just $21.49 shipped. (Ships for free with Prime, or free Super Saver Shipping on $25+.)
That’s a lot of Jedis for not too much cash. I’m pretty sure Yoda would approve.
Take down the decorations, put up new blinds
Weren’t a couple of you asking for deals on window coverings before the holidays…? I seem to remember that. Though I may have imagined it, because that happens sometimes. But one of you… a small, green person in a flying saucer… wanted new blinds, right?
(Kidding! Pretty sure it was someone purple!)
Anyway, you have through January 4th to shop at Blinds Galore and save big; use coupon code CHEERS30 to save 30% on all Comfortex products, or use coupon code CHEERS25 to save 25% on everything else! Both coupons will give you free shipping, too.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I used Blinds Galore the last time we got new blinds and their customer service was outstanding. I would use them again in a heartbeat. I like our new blinds, too.
