One quarter cheaper, one quarter more awesome
Today and tomorrow (through November 5th, 2009), you can get 25% off your entire shopPBS purchase, automatically. Just because they like you. (And possibly because there’s a recession going on and they’re freaking out. Either way.) Just use coupon code PBSFF925.
Then you’re buying something educational, and you’re getting a fantastic deal. And every purchase helps support public broadcasting without you even having to watch a telethon. So that’s good, too.
I found the cheap slims!
Okay, so, you know how I keep going on and on about there not being any slim jeans for boys on sale anywhere?
I just found ’em.
Check the Kohls clearance—Lee jeans for $10, slim sizes available. I thought some of my fellow moms to skinny boys would appreciate this one. (Of course, if you need other stuff… well, have at it.)
Shipping is a standard $.99 on every item right now, and if you have a Kohls card you can use code pick150ctfor 15% off your entire purchase.
If you need tons of toys
Oh, I know it’s only the first week of November. But holiday toy shopping can be an endurance event for some of us.
If you’ve got some patience and time, it’s worth wading through the Big Outlet Blowout Sale over at eToys; various on-sale items are marked down additional amounts, plus most items ship for free with your $49+ purchase. (Sidebar: I kind of hate the layout on eToys. Really, most items qualify for that free shipping, even though you sometimes have to click through to the detail page and then look around to find the icon. Silly.)
This is the first year I have a kid who really doesn’t want toys as much as she wants things. Sigh. Guess I’ll have to turn all of my toy-buying inclinations onto other small family members and our charitable donations. Oh well!
Limited free shipping
If you want to shop at The Limited online, you can do that any time. But today (Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009) is the only day they’re offering free shipping, site-wide, automatically.
With over 200 items in the sale section, I may not be able to resist picking up a little something….
They had me at “blasting”
Like any red-blooded American male, my husband has a thing for tools. And he has one of those Leatherman things he often straps to his belt, just in case he needs to cut a woman off the railroad tracks or duel with a bear or cut a tree down, or something.
Honestly, I’ve never much understood the difference between all of those little tools, though. I’m sure my husband could explain it, but my attitude has always been, “Uh, tools?”
Anyway, then I was looking through the specials at Buy.com today and came across this SOG Power Lock Multitool for $50, and I thought, Hmmm… originally $120? Why?? The product page there says it’s “everything the professional soldier or weekend warrior needs,” but I still wasn’t sure. So I went to the Amazon page (where it’s still $67) and it says this is “an ideal tool for crimping blasting caps and demolition cord with minimal hand pressure.”
Well, then. I feel kind of manly, just reading that. Don’t you?
Get your boots on
Among the other specials at 6pm.com today, they have Fitzwell footwear for under $10. Including boots for both men and women.
Of course, if boots aren’t your thing… I also see some giraffe-print pumps.
Uh, maybe I’ll stick with the boots….
New month, new grocery specials!
If the best part of a new month isn’t the new crop of Amazon grocery deals, I don’t know what is.
My favorite this month? Getting 40% off eligible Oskri bars, most of which are already on sale. Use coupon code OSKRI553 for 25% off, and buy via Subscribe & Save for an additional 15% off and free shipping.
You’d be hard pressed to buy something that wasn’t delicious, but I think the almond muesli cranberry ones are my favorite. They’re all organic and (yay!) gluten-free, too.
Double your pleasure, double your cash
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: For my money, a Discover Card is the credit card to have, if you only have one.
Of course I’m sure you’ve already signed up for your Get More bonus this quarter—allowing you to earn 5% on eligible grocery, movie, and restaurant purchases—but now they’re offering a second bonus for the holiday shopping season: You can go sign up to double your regular cashback from November 15th through the end of the year.
This is where I tend to thumb my nose at the cash-only way of life. I make hundreds of dollars back every year by paying for everything with my Discover Card (which I of course pay in full every month), not to mention the savings I reap when I redeem those dollars with their partners. I pink puffy heart Discover.
A brief chat with Nathan Fillion
Why hello there, Nathan Fillion. Why yes, I did happen to know that you were once in a series that enjoyed a cult following but was, nevertheless, canceled after a single season. No, I can’t believe it, either, given your rugged good looks and marvelous pecs acting ability, not to mention the geekalicious sci-fi storyline. It’s certainly a mystery.
What’s that? Now we can pick up the entire 4-DVD Firefly: The Complete Series set at Best Buy for just $13? That’s incredible! Especially seeing as how the same item is currently $40 at Amazon.
Oh, Nathan. (May I call you Nathan?) It turns out you’re yummy smart and frugal. Thanks!
Gold Box jeans (fancy!)
Have a kid who’s growing like a weed, whose jeans are all suddenly capris? Today’s Amazon Gold Box deal is bargain jeans for the kids, and real brands, too—Union Bay for the guys and Vanilla Star for the girls.
The good news is that they’re all under $15 and eligible for free shipping with Prime or Super Saver Shipping. The bad news is that they don’t have anything in Slim, so those of us with skinny kids are out of luck (darn it).
