Snacky goodness on the cheap

So I told you about the Amazon September Grocery Deals a couple of weeks ago, and mentioned that I was trying the Mrs. May’s Trio bars sampler pack. I’m happy to report that if you like nuts (almonds in particular), I can’t see where you could go wrong with the Trios. They are fantastic.

In fact, they’re so good, I went back to order some more, today. And I discovered that the cranberry Trio bars are (for some reason) marked way down. They’re currently at $15.22 for the 24-pack, and after Subscribe & Save and 40% off coupon MRSMTRO3, they come to just $9.13 shipped. That’s just $.38/bar! (They’re all-natural, and gluten-free, too.)

I’m stocking up.

[Edited to add: The Amazon listing says 24 bars, but then the item details and graphic say 20 bars. Now I’m not sure which it is. But even if it’s only 20 bars, it’s still $.46/bar. Just wanted to point out the discrepancy.]

Halloweenie

We’ve started thinking about Halloween. At first I was all, “It’s too early!” but then I realized that we’re halfway through September, already. And now that we have this cute little dog, my daughter wants to be Dorothy this year. (Licorice will be an excellent Toto.) Then she suggested I go as Glinda. And then my son suggested I wear a cardboard box with legs sticking out and I could be the witch that got smashed under Dorothy’s house, instead.

Anyway.

There’s a giant Halloween Hauntquarters over at Lillian Vernon, and you can use coupon code 929850100 to get 10% off $49+, 15% off $69+, or 20% off $89+. Alternatively, use code 149850900 for 10% off $45+ and free shipping on $55+; you’ll just have to figure out which one gives you the better savings.

Happy haunting!

Get your Scholastic on

I love it when you have a choice of deals that best fit your needs. So considerate of our favorite retailers, no?

Right now at Scholastic they’re still running their back-to-school special where coupon code BTS2009 gives you 15% off and free shipping on your $39+ order, which is great. But what if you don’t want to order that much?

Well, then, use coupon code SSMRDB, instead—it’ll only give you 10% off, but free shipping on $20+ (which means it’s a better deal on smaller orders).

There’s plenty of goodies in the Sales & Bargains section, too. Go ahead—be that mom who gives books as birthday presents at parties. Us word nerds have to stick together.

Oh, Kohls

I know it’s never a matter of if they’re having a sale at Kohls, but more a matter of which sale they’re having at Kohls. Still, this does not stop me from loving their pseudo-sales and eagerly checking the site several times a week. (Plus, Kohls has the greatest clearance in the history of clearance. So there’s that.)

Today (Tuesday, September 15th, 2009), your whole order ships for just $4.95. Today is also the last day for Kohls card holders to use coupon code MYMVC15 for an additional 15% off and code MVC9983 for free shipping.

Clearly, it’s a sign that you’re meant to check out Kohls today. I’m just sayin’.

A brand new (tea) bag?

Those of you who’ve been Want Notters for a long time know that I often sing the praises of PG Tips when it comes to tea. It’s cheap, it’s much fuller-bodied than Salada or other American teas, and I drink it all the time. (It helps that you can pretty much buy it in bulk from Amazon.)

But today’s Deal of the Day at Graveyard Mall may just cause me to try out something new; Oolong tea has long been touted for its incredible health benefits, and today you can get 60 bags for the cost of shipping ($5.99). Read the description on the site—they link you to information about Oolong tea, as well as assuring that the freshness dates will be over a year out.

And, uh, supposedly Oolong can help you lose weight. For $6, I think I’m in.

If you H&M

I don’t have an H&M nearby, but the one time I went to one I remember being somewhat awestruck. It’s sort of like the clothing at Target, on steroids. So many choices! So reasonably priced! And while I recall thinking some of their adult clothing made me feel kind of old and unhip (not that it takes much to make me feel old and unhip…), the children’s clothes are simply adorable.

If you have a local store and want to go shopping, don’t forget to print out this coupon before you go—through September 20th, 2009, it’ll give you 50% off a second item.

Buy something cute for me. (I mean, for you, but with me in mind because I can’t.)

You know how I like words

I’m going to be all over any toy that calls itself Word Lab, and if you throw in a great deal, well, I’m yours.

Check it out: Right now GeoSafari WordLab is just $14.99 plus shipping at drugstore.com. If you’d rather pay $50 at Amazon, I guess you could do that….

Ages 8+, and a great way to build vocabulary while playing. Word nerds, unite!

Snazzy dressing for Fall

Sure, it’s still like the surface of the sun here in the south, but theoretically cooler weather is coming, and with it comes the Fall fashions. Time for a new wardrobe?

Oh. Right. I never actually get “a new wardrobe.” But if the sale is good and the item is cute, I do sometimes get one or two new pieces to make me feel like I’ve splurged.

Right now at The Limited, pants, skirts and jackets are all 40% off! That’s the new-for-Fall stuff, of course, and then there’s other savings in the sale section, of course.

Use coupon code 646 for free shipping if you spend $100+. Some of their jackets are cute enough that I’m wishing for cold weather!

Shoes, shoes, shoes

Do you need some shoes? (Correct answer: Always.)

Check out Shoes.com and take an additional 20% off clearance items with coupon code SAVE, or pay via Paypal and use code PAYPAL09 to save $10 off $50+ or $20 off $100+ for items not on clearance.

Or if you’d rather, hop over to 6pm.com for today’s deals: Take 50% off Keen footwear, or check out a bevy of week-long deals on other brands.

Maybe I can teach the new dog to chew up some old/ugly shoes. That’d be the best party trick ever. “Oh dear, I guess I need to replace these….”

We all have happy words

Right now we’re busy trying to teach the dog her name. “Licorice!” we call, all happy and peppy, hoping she’ll respond. She doesn’t quite get it, yet. On the other hand, she has clearly already learned the word “treat.” You say that, and she gets very excited.

Similarly, all you have to say to my husband is “Dremel” to get his ears to perk up. I don’t know why; I, personally, have never needed a Dremel, but he insists it’s a terribly useful thing to have. And I guess he would know. So if you’re in the market for one, check out this refurbished Dremel Multi-Max kit at Buy.com today. It’s just $69.99 shipped, and I’m pretty sure my husband’s Dremel cost a lot more than that.

(By the way, my happy word is “chocolate.” I know, total shock.)
