Back-to-school shopping, no shipping, no waiting
Oh, I know that back-to-school seems like a faraway event for many of you… but it’ll be here sooner than you think. (In my district, we only have about three weeks to go. Yipes.) Want to get your shopping done without having to fight the crowds at the mall?
Through July 16th, 2009, shop at Old Navy or associated stores (Gap, Piperlime) and you can use coupon code BTSCHOOL for free shipping on any order that contains even a single kids’ item.
So, you can get the kids’ essentials laid in without an afternoon in dressing room purgatory. Or, um, I’m not suggesting anything, but if you didn’t really need to shop for the kids, say, but there was a cute top you wanted, you could conceivably pick up a pair of socks or whatever and get your shirt shipped for free. Just sayin’.
Saturday deals
I have some serious gardening to do today; someone snuck into my yard and planted a bunch of weeds while we were on vacation. Can you imagine? Hmph. But before I go, here’s some shopping suggestions:
I’ll be out there gardening in my Crocs. Yes, I admit to owning Crocs. And for the entire month of July, Crocs is offering free shipping on all orders. Woo!
Fashion Bug is having a Doorbusters Sale this weekend; dresses for $15, skirts and jewelry for $10, and 50% off swimwear and cover-ups! Make it better with a code: code 776282402 will give you an additional 30% off your entire purchase this weekend, while code 776200107 will give you free shipping on your $100+ order (if you order a lot, that may be the better deal).
It’s time for another Shoes.com Saturday Sale! Huge markdowns and tons of shoes, and you can use a coupon, too! FLAG15 is still working for an additional 15% off.
Amazon’s Gold Box Deal today is a fancy-schmancy Shun utility knife with great reviews marked down to $60. Where was this during the Friday Sale yesterday?? (One of the reviews claims that “tomatoes practically slice themselves!” I’d like to see that.)
One of the Daily Deals at Target is a set of four nesting storage boxes in colorful faux leather for just $25 shipped. Looks like a great way to do some organizing and some decorating at the same time, to me.
Don’t forget that Restaurant.com code SEVENTY is still good for 70% off dining certificates, netting you $25 of fine dining for just $3 out of pocket. You’ll never pay full price to dine out again!
Also don’t forget that you can continue to enter my contest for a GoodNites swag tote worth $250 every single day, too. That’s a whole lotta contest goodness going on, and tons of chances to win.
And now I’m off to battle the weeds. If you don’t hear from me in a couple of days, please send help.
Home again for the Friday Sale
I’m so happy to be back home after our couple weeks of traveling, I did all of my favorite things: Puttered in my garden, rolled around on our nice comfy bed, and—today—checked out the Amazon Friday Sale with a cup of coffee in hand. Ahhhhhh.
Okay, so, even knowing full well that the supposed original price of $130 is ridiculous, $21 for a set of six towels is a decent price, especially considering they have largely favorable reviews.
Looking to upgrade your silverware? How about this Reed and Barton service for 12 for $65? Includes serving pieces and steak knives, too.
No, I don’t really advocate buying a $400 blender (even if it is on sale for $360), but I can never resist a chance to point out the Blendtec site for folks who haven’t seen it yet. You’re welcome!
Um… wow. That was extremely unfulfilling. Perhaps the folks at Amazon are on vacation, too? I’ll see if I can find some other deals and come back with those in a bit, because there’s no way this is enough bargain goodness to last us the entire day….
Yummy charred things
Once summer hits, we grill out more nights than not. Food just seems to taste better when my husband goes outside and burns it. (Kidding! I’m kidding. He doesn’t burn it. He cooks it to perfect. Also, he’s cute.)
If you’re in the market for a new grill, the current Amazon Lightning Deal is for a nice Ducane 3-burner propane grill for $379 shipped. If you’re seeking such a thing, that’s a great price.
Do keep in mind you have to put it together yourself, but that’s nothing a few tools and maybe a beer or two can’t solve. (Handy tip: Assemble first, drink the beer after.)
If you don’t eat things that cluck or moo
You can go here to sign up for a coupon for a free vegetarian entree.
We’ve not tried this brand yet, but I like having ready-made veggie options in the freezer for nights when the non-veggies amongst us are enjoying steaks or whatever. I’m curious to see if this brand measures up to Morningstar Farms and/or Kashi.
More clothing, more savings
Tired of The Children’s Place yet? Of course you aren’t! Who tires of cute, cheap clothes for the kids? Certainly not me.
They’ve marked down the sale items another 30%, and through July 13th, 2009, you can use coupon code F4979 for an additional 10% off your $30+ purchase. Shipping is always a flat $5, no matter how much you buy.
This is the last year my daughter is going to fit into TCP clothes. (A moment of silence, please….) Thank goodness my (small-for-his-age) son will likely still be wearing TCP when he’s in high school.
Funkadelic
I know that if you’re hard-core old-school, the only sneaker that counts are Converse Chucks. But if you’re willing to mix your old-school with a bit of new-wave, go check out today’s deal on Pro-Keds at 6pm.com—they’re all just $14.95 apiece, and it’s like someone took your beloved Chucks and dipped ’em in tie-dye.
I think they’re adorable, but I guess I’ll find out when my teen-in-training finally gets up and I let her have a look….
Toast points for your caviar, no doubt
There’s a number of deals/stores I cruise through every morning as part of my routine, and this morning’s look through Buy.com turned up this crystal encrusted bling toaster.
Apparently it’s now a huge bargain at $70.
I can say only two things here:
1) That is the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen, and
2) “bling” and “toaster” are two words that don’t go together.
Carry on.
I would love to Wii Bowl on it
My television needs are pretty simple, which is to say that until my current one dies, it will continue to be my current one. Alas. Sometimes love of shiny things and frugality really don’t mix all that well.
But if I was loaded, or if my TV died tomorrow (and someone handed me $800…), I would snap up this Sony BRAVIA 40″ LCD TV, because it’s big and shiny and much nicer than my current, clunky, no-name set. And also because that’s a heck of a deal on a Sony flat screen of that size.
So. Who wants to come kick in my television screen and give me $800? Anyone?
Sigh.
We were just talking about them
Remember when we were talking about where to get stuff to school? One of the places I suggested was Discount School Supply, which is currently running a $10 off $10+ promotion! Just use coupon code SAVETEN to receive your discount. (Offer is good through July 13th, 2009.)
Shipping starts at $5. Happy shopping!
