Newly replenished clearance

I know it’s going to be a good day when there’s suddenly a slew of new items in the Kohls Clearance. Ahhhhhh!

This is a particularly good time to shop for the kids, if you’re so inclined. And today is the last day for the $.99 shipping promotion (that’s $.99 per item, not total).

How about some codes to sweeten the deal? Okay! If you don’t have a Kohls card, use THANKS9710 for an additional 10% off. If you do have a Kohls card, you can use code SUMMERMVC for an additional 15% off and code MVC8186 for free shipping on any size order.

Can’t sleep, Elmo’ll eat me

Personally, the thought of having giant Elmos all over my room is unbearably creepy to me, but then, I am not an Elmo-obsessed toddler. If you have an Elmo-obsessed toddler and you’re looking to outfit his room for under $100, you might want to check out today’s featured daily deal at Target; it’s a Sesame Street room in a box for just $95 shipped! (Don’t forget that if you’re buying, you can add it to your cart and then click through this link right here to activate an additional $5 off $50 coupon!)

The deal almost overpowers my Elmo aversion. Almost.

Swedish kids are the cutest

My kids are getting bigger, now, but there was a time when I liked nothing better than dressing them in that one special outfit I’d scrimped and saved for, that one, perfect cheerful masterpiece from Hanna Andersson.

I know.. It’s a sickness, having that addiction to Swedish cotton and bright stripes and children who look like they should be building snowmen or eating pancakes.

Nevertheless, when I saw that Hanna Andersson is having a School Deals Sale, my heart may have begun to beat just a little bit faster. (And then when I saw the Sale section is also well-stocked, well, I had to sit down.) (Okay, that part is a lie. I’m in the car; I’m already sitting down.)

If you’re already a Hanna fan, you know what I’m talking about. If you’re new to Hanna, I’ll just say that yes, the prices are a bit higher, but we’ve had several Hanna pieces that have gone through three or more children and still looked brand new. I would never do an entire wardrobe at this price, but a few select pieces, well, I promise you’ll get your money’s worth.

A little Lands’ End for the drive

Nothing makes me happier than a free shipping code for Lands’ End, people. And I need some happy right now; we’ve been in the car since early this morning, and have hit the part of the trip where we’re in Virginia for approximately twelve billion hours.

Anyway. Hey, need a free shipping code for Lands’ End? Of course you do! Through July 9th, 2009, use coupon code JULY7 and PIN 5483.

It looks like their totes are on sale—check the Overstocks for huge price reductions on those. And, you know, everything else.

Who’s hungry?

Yep, it’s that time again—no, not lunchtime, silly! (Though I guess it’s nearly that, too.) Now through July 13th, 2009, you can take 70% off your purchase at Restaurant.com with coupon code SEVENTY. That means you’ll get $25 gift certificates for dining at your favorite restaurants for just $3 out of pocket. What could be better? (Well, a completely free meal and a maid would be better, I guess. But that would be getting greedy.)

Don’t forget that the eligible restaurants are constantly changing and being added, too. I check every month, and there’s usually one or two new choices each time.

I resemble that remark

Back in the day (you know, when dinosaurs roamed the earth), I enjoyed a vast variety of terrible television that fell into either of two categories. The first was the Wannabe category, and that included such cinematic masterpieces as Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place. (And before you ask, yes, I object to the remakes. Strenuously!) The second was the Close To Home category, and that included shows like My So-Called Life—which came out after I was an adult, but totally reminded me of my painful years in high school—and the short-lived but totally awesome Freaks and Geeks.

You can perhaps imagine my glee this morning to discover that the complete series of Freaks and Geeks on DVD is currently selling at Amazon for $37.49 shipped. Those of you who only know Seth Rogan via his movies, please go buy this immediately. You won’t be sorry.

Oh, my. Looks like all of My So-Called Life is available for a buck less, too. Decisions, decisions….

Shiny!

I can just see it now; Walmart’s next marketing campaign should be happy, sparkly people assuring you that Wamart makes you shimmer. Or something. You heard it here, first!

While you’re waiting for that masterpiece, why not go get a free sample of Nivea “Touch of Sparkle” body wash?

Then those of us who are easily distracted by something shiny will transfixed by… ourselves.

Get your K-cups

Do you have a Keurig or similar K-cup coffee brewer? Then you need K-cups for your coffee, and you want ’em cheap, I’m guessing.

Amazon just added a bunch of 50-pack K-cup options to their Subscribe & Save; with the already marked down price and the additional 15% off and free shipping you get with S&S, we’re taking less than $.30 a cup.

I’m pretty sure that would be a smoking deal even if I wasn’t sitting here clutching my own coffee right at the moment.

Get your dailies here

Today I’m off to tromp around Gettysburg with my family while we all soak up some learnin’ and enjoy family togetherness. Or to simply endure the whining and eventually snap, “You’re welcome for taking you on this nice vacation!” It could go either way.

Before I leave, I’m eating a nutritious breakfast, and paging through the daily deals to make sure I don’t miss anything.

Today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal is the Seagate FreeAgent 1 TB backup solution; you get an entire terabyte (I may be spelling that wrong) of storage, plus their easy-to-use file management software that makes backing up a breeze.

Summer skin care is 40% off on the Drugstore.com Daily Deal today, so it’s a good time to stock up on sunblock if you haven’t already.

Deals at 6pm.com today include half off Anne Klein shoes. (I own a single pair of Anne Kleins. I sometimes whisper sweet nothings to them.)

Target has totally spiffed up their daily deals; they all still have free shipping, of course, but there are even more awesome markdowns from which to choose. And when did Target get so swanky? The featured deal is a pair of BCBG flats (adorable!) and one of the other deals is on Lucky Jeans (my favorite brand). Since when do Lucky and BCBG sell at Target??

Today’s the last day for free shipping on your $75+ order at Kohls, plus the daily deal is a slew of Candies tops and bottoms for juniors for just $14.99 apiece.

I’ll be back later with popsicles for everyone. Or a contest. (I mean, another contest. It’s double contest Monday!) Possibly. That is, if I don’t get skewered by a Civil War reenactment bayonet, or anything.

Play house (or fort, or tent)

Look, I know how much fun I had as a kid with just a blanket and a pile of couch cushions, but if you want to outfit your kids’ imaginary digs in style, here’s a couple of options for rainy-day fun, both from Overstock.

First, check out this set of Airblox—blow ’em up, tie ’em together in the configuration of your choosing, and away they go.

Second, how about this play tent set—it reminds me of the Playhut structures my kids used to have, two tents connected by a tunnel.

Both options are under $30, with $2.99 shipping. And I’m sure Santa would find it very helpful if you thought ahead this way. While I would always rather toss children outside to play, there are some days that are simply too rainy or cold to do so. Just saying.
