Occasionally I succumb to junk, it’s true

So, listen, I’m big on homemade and natural and organic and all of that stuff. I am, truly. But I also grew up on Kraft macaroni and cheese, so it will always occupy a little spot in my heart. Furthermore, I don’t know if you know this, but a lot of teenagers are lazy about making their own food. (I know! What a surprise from the “well all my clothes are on the floor because that’s where I took them off” set, right??) So we always have a few blue boxes in the pantry for teenager food emergencies.

And right now I’m busy accumulating some items for my graduating senior to take with her to college in the fall. It is my hope that she will eat balanced meals from the dining halls with healthy snacks in-between, but it is also my acceptance of reality to know that, well, that’s not always going to happen. So: right now Amazon has this 10-pack of Kraft Easy Mac Triple Cheese Cups for $9.80, which is about the typical price (a little under, actually), but if you buy via Subscribe & Save and have 5+ items, that drops it to $8.33, plus there’s a clippable 25% off coupon, which means your total could be $5.88 delivered. It’s still 1) not real food and 2) a terrible waste of packing material, I know, but for that price, I call it affordable insurance for my dorm-bound picky eater.

Time to do your stock-up shopping

Whether you’re already thinking about clothes for next fall or you’ve just discovered that the kids (or maybe you; I don’t judge) don’t have anything that fits as you head into summer, the Gap family of stores is there for you… and today (Monday, April 4th), they’ve also got a somewhat-secret 40% off coupon code.

Shop at Gap, Banana Republic, or my personal favorite for “oh no the kids are growing and want trendy clothes but I still have to pay the mortgage,” Old Navy, today, and you can use coupon code SPRINGFUN for 40% off all three. Get to $50+ across that shared shopping basket and your shipping will be free, too.

Some restrictions do apply (off the top of my head: their coupons often don’t work on denim), but I tested it on some clearance items and it worked. So. Go see how much you can save!

You can’t bidet that, I guess

Those with delicate sensibilities may wish to stay away from Woot today—their April Fool’s move was to make all of their sites bidet-themed. But, hey, if you need a bidet? They’re there for you, today.

On the other hand, they have other stuff, too, and if you make any purchase today, your shipping on all orders in April will be free. No fooling!

Is there an entire shop of gaming-related shirts today? Indeed there is. Am I going shopping for my nerdling? I think you know the answer to that.

My favorite—clearanced clearance!

The only thing I like better than clearance stuff is when you can get clearance on the clearance.

Right now at Stage Stores, they’re offering free shipping on every purchase, automatically, plus their clearance prices are the lowest of the season, plus you can apply coupon code RED to take an additional 50% off items already on clearance.

Definitely worth taking a look, is all I’m saying. They’re practically paying you to shop.

It’s great… I guess…

Um, you know I love a deal like nothing else, but I’m starting to worry that maybe Children’s Place is on the brink of going out of business. I’m just saying—they’ve been doing 50% off and free shipping so often, I have concerns.

But hey, you may as well take advantage while you can. Use coupon code SPRINGTIME50 for your 50% off, and free shipping is automatic. If you still have kids small enough to wear their clothes, it really doesn’t get any cheaper than this. Also I always loved that they had slims in everything (often hard to find), and husky sizes, too.

My kids lived in these clothes for years. It’s still weird to me how small everything there looks, now. (Then again, it’s weird to me when my son rests his chin on top of my head, but that’s another conversation entirely….)

I’m dreaming of lazy summer days

Is summer here yet? I’m ready. So ready. And yet, apparently the kids still need to “finish the school year” and the husband and I have to “work for a living.” So unfair.

Anyway! Setting all of that aside, I’ve been waiting for a good deal on a hammock, because one assumes that eventually I will be able to lounge around outside for a while. Right? Right! Today at Woot they have a double hammock and stand available for just $89.99 (plus $5 shipping). A little research reveals that this hammock is around $130 at Amazon, with an average 4.5 star rating over 2,600+ reviews.

I feel like this is the sort of thing we could buy my husband for Father’s Day and then I can lounge around in it, too. I’m a giver, like that.

I will never not post this deal

Do I go and buy this 3-pack of jumbo Lysol wipes every single time it’s on sale? Why, yes. Yes I do. I use them all over the house (especially after someone’s been sick or a dog has… ummm… been dog-like), and I keep a canister in every bathroom, and I will send some off to college with my children. They’re my favorite things for easy clean-ups.

Right now they’re listed at $9.42, with an available 25% clippable coupon, and then if you have 5+ subscriptions for the month and buy via Subscribe & Save you get another 15% off, too. That’s just $5.65 for 240 disinfecting wipes, or a little over $.02/each. I’ll take it.

Woot your day away

I am having A Week; I don’t know about you. Spring has sprung here in Georgia and it’s snowing pollen. Tempers are flaring and noses are running, is all I’m saying.

Maybe I can spend part of today relaxing with a Woot-Off…? Those always cheer me up. They’re Wooting Off all day at Woot, Home.Woot, Electronics.Woot, Computers.Woot, Tools.Woot, Sport.Woot, Kids.Woot, Accessories.Woot, and Wine.Woot (motto: you totally need three gallons of fancy olives).

If you’ve just arrived here on our planet and have never experienced a Woot-Off, here’s how it works: Deals rotate through for a limited time, at a lower price than usual, and any given deal will last for 30 minutes or until it runs out (and good deals may disappear in a matter of minutes). Your $5 shipping fee will cover as many orders as you care to place today, and the only limit here is whether you have to, you know, go be a functional adult instead of sitting here refreshing Woot all day. Up to you.

Happy hunting!

Do you remember my dorm list?

Back when I answered the question of what to buy for dorm-bound college freshmen, I mentioned this Dirt Devil Simpli-Stik Lightweight Vacuum as a great choice because it’s tiny, gets decent reviews, and regularly dips below $15. Well, today’s the day if you’ve had your eye on it—it’s part of a Dirt Devil trio in the Amazon Gold Box, and you can snag it today for just $14. And if you don’t have a dorm to send it off to, well, it’s a handy spare, to have around, too. (Not gonna lie; I have a stick vac in my kitchen for quick clean-up.)

Now, just to be absolutely clear, when I told my husband I was buying it for our soon-to-be-freshman, he had a good laugh over the notion that I believed she would ever vacuum anything. And he’s probably right to be skeptical. But for $14, I’ll sleep better at night knowing that at least when she drops cookies all over the floor, she’ll have a way to clean up the crumbs.
