Reminder: Smartlab contest
Have you gotten your entry in for a chance to win a cool SmartLab kit for your favorite kid (or kid-at-heart)? The contest ends just before midnight tonight, so time’s a-wasting.
And now that I’ve used the word “a-wasting” in a sentence, I’m going to go churn my own butter, darn some socks, and plow the back forty. Mercy me!
(While I’m away doing that—starting with trying to figure out if there’s another way to darn socks other than just swearing at them as they come out of the dryer sans mate—make sure you enter on the contest post, not this one. And then if anyone tries to leave an entry on this post, the rest of you can give ’em what for.) (No, I don’t really know what that means, either.)
Socks and undies, but also shirts and more
There’s a ton of great stuff in the clearance section at Hanes Online, right now, for the entire family.
I don’t know what’s happening at your house, but the sock-eating monster is alive and well at my house. As is the I-can’t-find-my-sweatshirt-Mom gremlin, and the but-I-need-soft-shorts-for-gym pixie.
(It’s busy, here at my house.)
Shipping is automatically free on orders of $75+, but if you’re buying less than that, no worries—use coupon code THANKS2U for free shipping on any size order. I just got a polarfleece zip-top for $8 shipped. Which virtually guarantees temperatures in the 80s, immediately.
Oh, Wednesday
Hey, remember the JCPenney Wednesday Deals?
Yeah, neither did I, for a while. There was a long stretch of time there when all of the deals were, like, one lamp, a dog statue, and a few banded-bottom polyester shirts. But today’s selection isn’t bad at all. In fact, I’m thinking a few of these trays might be great for the gift closet, to whip out for wedding or hostess gifts.
And maybe I want a pair of these rain boots. Maybe.
[Edited to add: Looks like you can make it even sweeter with code APRSURV9 for 15% off. Woo!]
Might as well Jump
Okay, my bad—I waited so long to post yesterday’s daily deal at 6pm.com, a bunch of stuff was already sold out. Mea culpa. And today I’m posting it first thing, so that there can be no whining. All day today, all Jump shoes are just $19.95 at 6pm.
I strongly urge you (read: beg you, fortheloveofallthat’sholy) to “just say no” to the high heeled sneakers, but there are some cute casual shoes for both men and women besides those.
Get your Jansport, girl
Got a girl who needs a bag? Today at 6pm, all Jansport bags are $9.95 or less!
Something’s wiggy with the site display, though—on the main Jansport page, the prices are higher. Clicking through to an item shows you the actual price, which is $9.95 for all of the packs, or just $4.95 for the 2-pack of lunch bags.
Not such a great deal if you have a boy (unless he’s fond of pink; not that there’s anything wrong with that), but plenty of bargains for the ladies!
Deck season is coming (really)
Here in Georgia, I’ve learned there’s a relatively slim window of time between Pollen (now) and Melt-Your-Face-Off Heat (coming!) in which to laze around on the deck. On the other hand, this is why God created pools, and also margaritas. Needless to say, we spend quite a bit of time outdoors once the chilly weather departs.
So I felt like Jean and I were totally on the same wavelength when she wrote in:
Most wise and beautiful Mir,
I love Wantnot and read it religiously each day. I’m wondering if you could help me. I am in need of patio furniture. We got some hand me down chairs and a table, but alas, they are falling apart. I’m all about hand me downs, but would like to be able to purchase a matched set. Where can I find a decent set (nothing extravagant) for a decent price (ie less than my mortgage please). Thanks!
Jean is looking very pretty today, isn’t she? I think she’s lost weight, and that color is fabulous on her. No, really.
So let’s talk outdoor furniture. read more…
You know the drill
I would jazz this up, but I just returned from letting the pediatrician stick a very long Q-tip up my kid’s nose, and frankly, I’m still recovering. Fill in your own entertaining context for this one:
It’s Restaurant.com time again! Through April 13th, 2009, use coupon code SEASON to take 60% off dining certificates—netting you $25 of dining for just $4 out-of-pocket. That’s a great deal!
(And also doesn’t involve having your sinuses probed. So, you know, that’s good, too.)
A floor wax and a dessert topping
Today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal is a 9″ Philips portable DVD player. That’s also an iPod dock. And a digital picture frame. And a Swedish masseur.
Okay, I made up the masseur part. But not the rest.
(Bonus geek points if you’re old enough to get the title of this post.)
Holiday keepsakes
There’s hundred of items on clearance at San Francisco Music Box right now, and I suppose you might want to start thinking about Mother’s Day, or something, although the clearance is (of course) filled with Christmas items. Hey, you could get ahead for next year, too.
Make it sweeter with a coupon: MOMAF10 gives you free shipping on any order, as well as 10% off orders of $60+. So if you buy Mom something Christmasy for her special day, you can tell her all about how much you saved on it.
If it’s new, it’s on sale
Had your eye on some clothes at Old Navy, but didn’t want to pay full price? Through April 9th, shop anything labeled as a “new arrival” at Old Navy and you can use coupon code NEW30 to take 30% off the purchase price.
Not bad if there’s something you’re dying to get. And if those creepy commercials with the mannequins haven’t turned you off to them forever.
